Chapter 20: Visitors from the Flying Immortal Sect

Inside Xiangdao City, Ling Yun slowly opened his eyes, exhaling a mouthful of turbid air.

This time, his breakthrough into the Origin Spirit Realm was completely different from any of his previous ninety-nine reincarnations. This breakthrough wasn’t just an increase in cultivation—it was a brand-new spiritual resonance born from his complete rejection of the role of a villain, refined over countless cycles.

Even someone like Yun Xi, with her special existence, couldn’t fully comprehend the depth of his spiritual resonance. But she could be sure—across Ling Yun’s ninety-nine lifetimes, such a unique resonance had never appeared before. Clearly, there was something hidden within it that was worth exploring.

Just then, Ling Yun seemed to sense something. He suddenly turned to look outside the window. Through the window, a luxurious celestial airship could be seen streaking across the sky.

“This design… it’s unique to the Flying Immortal Sect. If the timing is right, their disciples should be arriving at the Heavenly Dao Sect about now. Seems like that Flying Immortal Physique from the Flying Immortal Sect has also come this time. Looks like things at the Heavenly Dao Sect are about to get lively.”

Onboard the Flying Immortal Sect’s airship, a young cultivator stood at the bow, wind whipping his robes. With the wind and the posture, he looked as though he might ascend to immortality in the very next moment.

“Junior Brother, why did you run off here?” a female disciple of the Flying Immortal Sect jogged over to him, curiosity in her eyes.

“Nothing. We’re almost at the Heavenly Dao Sect, right?” Qu Feixian shook his head.

“Yes. The last time I came to the Heavenly Dao Sect was three years ago. I still remember the roads,” the female disciple said.

“Tell me, who are the outstanding disciples of the Heavenly Dao Sect now?” Qu Feixian asked.

“Outstanding disciples, huh… right now, the most impressive ones should be the three disciples under Master Xueyue of Snow Moon Peak. The one called Lin Chuan from the main peak is also decent. Other spiritual peaks also have a few good ones. But in front of you, Junior Brother, they’re absolutely no match!” She counted them on her fingers, her eyes shining with admiration for Qu Feixian.

Truthfully, in the beginning, even though Qu Feixian was born with the Flying Immortal Physique, he wasn’t popular among the sect’s disciples. He had always looked down on others due to his special constitution and rarely gave anyone a second glance. Many elders of the Flying Immortal Sect had worried that his arrogance would eventually become his greatest flaw.

Fortunately, people change. After one incident where his arrogance led to cultivation deviation and he fainted from overexertion, Qu Feixian became noticeably more restrained. This shift in attitude relieved many elders of the Flying Immortal Sect.

“This time, when we return, you should be eligible to inherit the title of Holy Son, right?” the female disciple looked at Qu Feixian’s back and tried to curry favor with him, hoping to benefit from the future Holy Son.

“The Holy Son position? My cultivation is still too low. I have no intention of taking that position for now,” Qu Feixian shook his head slightly.

“Eh?” The female disciple was stunned.

She remembered clearly that Qu Feixian used to treat the Holy Son’s position like something already in his pocket. If the current Holy Son hadn’t been in secluded cultivation, he would’ve challenged him already. And now, he says he has no interest? That’s way too sudden a change.

“Feixian, didn’t you always say you wanted to become the Holy Son? Why not now?” A Flying Immortal Sect elder appeared beside Qu Feixian.

This elder was none other than Qu Feixian’s master—the one who had discovered him in a small mountain village and brought him back to the sect for training after recognizing his Flying Immortal Physique.

“Master, after the incident where I overcultivated and collapsed, I’ve realized a lot. Though the Flying Immortal Physique is strong, it’s not invincible. I haven’t fully mastered its power yet. The Holy Son’s position will surely be mine in the future, but taking it now would only divide my focus,” Qu Feixian replied calmly.

“Good, good. With that kind of thinking, I feel at ease.” The elder’s beard lifted with joy, clearly pleased.

In truth, Qu Feixian hadn’t told him everything. While unconscious from his collapse, he had seen vague and fragmented images—scenes in which he, with his Flying Immortal Physique, was being thoroughly beaten by an ordinary cultivator.

He could feel his own fury and even fear in those visions. He fought back with everything he had, but the other party’s attacks only became fiercer. If they hadn’t been on a competition platform, he might’ve been beaten to death.

Even though those scenes were fragmented and unclear, they shook him to the core, forcing him to reevaluate everything he had done in recent years and gradually rein in his arrogance.

“I heard Master Xueyue from Snow Moon Peak has four disciples. Why did you only mention three?” Qu Feixian asked with some doubt.

“Oh, you mean that eldest disciple with no talent? I heard his foundation was broken, his cultivation lost, and he gave up on training and went down the mountain,” the female disciple replied casually, clearly not paying much attention to Ling Yun.

“Broken foundation… cultivation lost… gave up on training… went down the mountain?” With each word, Qu Feixian’s tone grew more peculiar. “You’re sure that’s true?”

“Junior Brother, don’t doubt me! That rumor’s been spreading throughout the Heavenly Dao Sect for a while now.”

“I see… What a pity.” Qu Feixian let out a light sigh.

“You’re interested in that eldest disciple of Snow Moon Peak?” the elder asked, curious.

“I just figured—if the other three are that outstanding, then as the eldest disciple, he must’ve had something special too,” Qu Feixian replied.

He certainly couldn’t admit that, in his dreams, he had been beaten in all kinds of humiliating ways by that very same eldest disciple of Snow Moon Peak—not just once, but over and over.

“Anyone who can catch your curiosity must be someone extraordinary. If he were still in the Heavenly Dao Sect, maybe you’d have had a chance to spar with him. But now that he’s lost his cultivation and left the sect, finding him in this vast world won’t be easy,” the elder stroked his beard and said.

“Yes… what a shame,” Qu Feixian nodded, then turned his gaze once more toward the Heavenly Dao Sect.

He wondered just how much he would gain from this visit to the Heavenly Dao Sect. Among the so-called geniuses everyone spoke of, how many could truly force him to push the limits of his Flying Immortal Physique—and how many could actually help him improve.
