After Being Reborn a Hundred Times, I Refused to Be the Villain - Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: I’ve Been Sick of You for a Long Time
Watching the disciple leave in a hurry, Yun Xi, who had stood beside Ling Yun the whole time, had a hint of coldness in her eyes. “Heh, that outer disciple of the Heavenly Dao Sect sure thinks highly of himself.”
From that disciple’s behavior just now, she didn’t see the slightest bit of respect for Ling Yun. He didn’t come to specifically notify him, but rather acted like he was just casually passing on a message.
“Be kind to others, be kind to others… have I been kind for too long, to the point that people think kindness equals weakness?”
“Hmph, that’s what I’ve been saying all along. Your kindness should be shown selectively. Being kind to people like that is a waste, and it only makes them push their luck!” Yun Xi raised her small hand and lightly tapped Ling Yun on the forehead.
“I was kind to him because he was a disciple of the Heavenly Dao Sect. But from now on, there’s no need for that anymore, is there?”
Seeing Yun Xi looking like she was about to tap again, Ling Yun reached out and gently grabbed her fair wrist.
“What are you planning to do next?” Yun Xi asked.
“Staying at Snow Moon Peak, staying in the Heavenly Dao Sect, it’s all meaningless now, isn’t it? The world is so vast—I want to go see it!” Ling Yun shrugged.
In past reincarnations, he had poured all his effort into fighting the Child of Destiny. In this lifetime, he no longer intended to oppose the Child of Destiny. As for what would become of this world—what did that have to do with him? Right now, he wanted to explore this world. That sounded far more interesting than fighting fate.
“You want to leave the Heavenly Dao Sect?” Yun Xi widened her eyes at Ling Yun’s words.
After all, Ling Yun’s identity as the Chief Disciple of Snow Moon Peak had been the biggest factor in his early confrontations with the Child of Destiny. She never imagined he would so decisively choose to abandon that title.
“But if you want to leave Snow Moon Peak, will Master Xueyue let you go?” Yun Xi asked.
“What do you think?” Ling Yun responded.
Yun Xi froze for a moment at his reply, then fell silent.
Seeing her expression, Ling Yun smiled and changed the subject. “What do you think I would’ve done in my past reincarnations if I received that outer disciple’s message?”
“With your personality, you’d definitely force yourself through your injuries and rush back to Snow Moon Peak immediately. You’d prepare everything for your three junior brothers and sisters for the upcoming Ten Sects Grand Competition—training, pills, talismans, artifacts—everything would be ready, just so they could be in peak condition. As for all the affairs before the competition, you’d take it all on yourself to avoid disturbing their mindset. Damn, you were even more worried than a doting mother!”
As Yun Xi continued, her tone became more and more indignant. “You gave your all for them, and what did those bastards give you in return? You poured your heart out and got treated like dirt!”
“Hey, hey, hey—don’t insult dogs like that. Even they have reputations to protect!” Ling Yun interrupted.
“And now? Are you still going to rush back?” Yun Xi glanced sideways at Ling Yun.
“What’s the rush? The Ten Sects Grand Competition is still a while away. I’m injured right now—resting and recovering first sounds perfectly reasonable, don’t you think?” Ling Yun waved his hand, then lay down lazily on a flat stone platform at the mountain peak.
He had just lain down for a short while when his brows furrowed. Deep within his heart, an inexplicable urge suddenly arose—an urge to immediately return to Snow Moon Peak. It was as if a voice was pushing him, urging him to go back now, right away!
“Hmm? What is this feeling?” Ling Yun frowned and with a thought, directly erased the faint urge from his heart.
But in the next instant, the voice returned, omnipresent, trying to force its way into his mind.
Sensing something strange, Ling Yun immediately activated the powerful Dao Heart forged through a hundred lifetimes of reincarnation. An invisible force swept out and completely shattered that voice. In the faintest instant, Ling Yun even heard something break apart.
But that voice seemed to be just the beginning. After it was destroyed, an inexplicable force descended upon him, trying to pull his body away—to force him to leave this place for somewhere else.
And where else could that be, if not Snow Moon Peak?
Just as Ling Yun was about to act, a small hand gently landed on his shoulder. The hand wasn’t forceful, but it contained a never-before-seen majestic presence, pressing his half-raised body back onto the stone platform.
Yun Xi didn’t know when she appeared behind him. Her pale cyan dress quietly transformed into a golden-red palace robe. After pressing Ling Yun back down, Yun Xi looked up at the sky, her pitch-black eyes burning with a fury that had never been seen before.
“You think I’m Hello Kitty just because I don’t get angry? My partner has always been free. Whatever he wants to do is his will alone! You want to manipulate his destiny? Have you even measured your own worth?”
As soon as Yun Xi’s words fell, a thunderclap suddenly roared across the clear sky—a warning from an invisible force, reacting to her provocation.
“I’ve been sick of you for a long time!” Yun Xi raised her small hand, and the skies and winds shifted.
“Buzz—”
A low hum rang out as beams of light appeared behind Yun Xi, each one radiating unimaginable power. Ling Yun glanced over. There were ninety-nine beams, and each one’s power could rival the peak of his past reincarnations.
Ling Yun had always known that Yun Xi had somehow broken past the limits of the Villain System and gained great power. But he had never seen her make a move. Now that she revealed herself, it was earth-shattering.
Yun Xi closed her hand into a fist, and the beams of light interwove in her palm, eventually condensing into a one-meter-long azure sword. She lifted the sword and slowly pointed it toward the heavens, her eyes full of provocation.
The thunder in the sky rumbled even louder, as if the heavens themselves were enraged and ready to crush this impudent challenger.
Yun Xi sneered, raised the sword, and soared into the sky. With one slash, she cleaved toward the heavens.
In the instant the sword fell, the world turned dark and chaotic. The sound of shattering echoed alongside the crashing thunder, as if something had been torn apart by the sword’s edge in a single blow.
