Chapter 3: Then Go Die!

Thinking of how pathetic he had been in his previous life, Jiang Yubai almost wanted to throw himself into the Xuan River to sober up.

With that thought, his steps grew firmer.

Ye Yunshang watched as the once obedient chief disciple now disregarded her completely, and for the first time, an uneasy feeling surfaced in her heart.

Could it be… she had pushed him too far?

No!

Xiao Yifei was still lying in bed, his life hanging by a thread. Those severe injuries weren’t a joke.

It had to be—this chief disciple, freshly returned from the Demonic Cavern, who had struck with a vicious hand!

Her tone turned cold, “Jiang Yubai, you’ve disrespected your elders and seriously injured your fellow disciple without any remorse. From today on, you are to remain in seclusion at Blackwind Cliff—”

Before she could finish, Jiang Yubai interrupted, “Master, why go through all that trouble? Why not just expel me from the sect?”

Ye Yunshang’s face flushed with anger. Again and again, this disciple left her without any dignity.

“You refuse a toast but want to drink punishment wine—”

Jiang Yubai didn’t even bother looking at her. “Master, since that day, I’ve stopped drinking. You didn’t know?”

Her pupils contracted sharply. Of course, she knew why.

Years ago, to save her, he had been gravely injured by a dark flood serpent in the Forest of Ten Thousand Ghosts. Ever since, his body had never recovered—just a touch of alcohol would cause pain that cut to the bone.

For a moment, guilt flickered in her eyes… but it was soon drowned by resentment.

“Yubai, you were once my proudest disciple—”

“Master, must you say these meaningless things?”

“You—”

Just then, a weak voice called out, “M-Master…”

Everyone turned toward the entrance of the hall.

It was the center of all this conflict—Xiao Yifei.

His face was pale as paper, cold sweat trickling from his forehead, soaking his collar. Blood dripped from the corner of his lips, staining his robes.

Jiang Yubai raised an eyebrow.

What a performance.

Having been reborn, this was Jiang Yubai’s first time seeing this Junior Brother. A subtle, almost invisible smirk curved his lips.

So it begins again… adding fuel to the fire, huh?

He didn’t move. But others did.

Mu Xueqi rushed forward first, her face full of concern. “Junior Brother, your injuries are so serious. Why did you come here?”

Liu Liyue followed close behind, eyes full of worry and pain as though her heart might break.

Jiang Yubai rolled his eyes.

Liu Liyue said, “Junior Brother, why put yourself through this? Are you here to plead for Senior Brother?”

Her voice was filled with regret, as if she mourned his choices.

Si Chenyu and Lu Jinwei also hurried over.

Even Ye Yunshang, seated high above, came rushing down. “Yifei, with wounds like that, why aren’t you resting in bed?”

Xiao Yifei gave a weak smile. “I heard Master and Senior Sisters were questioning Senior Brother, so I came to explain… Senior Brother couldn’t have done it on purpose…”

Jiang Yubai frowned.

What an actor.

When Xiao Yifei saw him standing tall in white robes, a flicker of darkness flashed in his eyes.

Moved by his words, Ye Yunshang looked deeply touched. “Yifei, don’t worry. I will get justice for you.”

Then she turned, voice cold again. “Jiang Yubai, you—”

“Master,” Jiang Yubai interrupted with a smirk, “are you still talking about Blackwind Cliff? Then let me make it clear—Black. Wind. Cliff. I. Won’t. Go.”

“You—”

“Not only that… I’m leaving the Longevity Sect.”

His words stunned everyone.

“Senior Brother?!”

“Unfilial disciple!”

Jiang Yubai ignored them all. “Whoever wants to be the chief disciple, let them have it.”

He tore the nameplate from his waist and flung it away. The crowd watched it fly through the air and land far away.

Seeing the obedient disciple behave like this, Ye Yunshang was utterly—

Shocked. Furious.

“How dare you—”

She launched another attack.

But Jiang Yubai evaded again. “Immortal Lord Chunhua, as the sect master, can’t you maintain even a little composure?”

The words stunned not only his Junior Sisters but also Ye Yunshang.

She felt something rapidly pulling away from her. A hollow emptiness grew in her chest.

Even Xiao Yifei was shocked and confused.

Was Jiang Yubai… possessed by a demon from the cavern?

His gaze darkened, head lowered in silence.

Then Lu Jinwei snapped again, furious. “Senior Brother?! How could you talk to Master like that?!”

Jiang Yubai was sick of these women.

The pain, the humiliation, the betrayals of his past life…

Still burned clearly in his memory.

As the so-called “fairy-like” disciples glared at him…

Xiao Yifei spoke again, his voice pitiful. “Senior Brother, I don’t know what I did to offend you… why are you treating Master and the Senior Sisters this way? If it’s my existence that offends you…”

Jiang Yubai coldly cut him off, “Then go die.”

Without hesitation, he struck with his sword. A blade of sharp Qi shot forth, sending Xiao Yifei flying several meters.

He hit the ground with a heavy crash, blood gushing from his mouth, staining the floor red.

Everyone screamed.

“Junior Brother!”

“Yifei!”

They rushed over, some fumbling to feed him medicine, others anxiously trying to heal his wounds.

Xiao Yifei felt like his organs had shifted, his pain unbearable.

He cursed Jiang Yubai internally. He only meant to fake an injury, but that sword strike nearly killed him!

Still, a cold smile formed in his heart.

Jiang Yubai, you fool.

Now that I’m seriously hurt, let’s see how you explain this to Master and the others.

Outside the main hall, disciples began condemning Jiang Yubai.

“What the hell?! The chief disciple actually used such a ruthless move in front of everyone?!”

“So it’s true… the one who hurt Junior Brother must be him!”

“I never imagined the noble, graceful Senior Brother was so vicious!”

“That attack was overkill!”

“No matter how big the grudge, how could he strike his fellow disciple like that?!”

“Even if there’s a dispute, it should be resolved in other ways. Not with violence.”

“As the sect master’s disciple, Jiang Yubai should set an example. This is disgraceful.”

…

All voices were united in one thing—

Condemnation.

Jiang Yubai felt numb.

Ruthless?

Compared to the disgrace and betrayal he endured in his past life…

That sword strike was mercy.

He sneered inwardly.

These disciples who once revered him now turned against him for a newcomer like Xiao Yifei.

He never imagined…
