After Letting My Guard Down, I Got Trapped by a Yandere CEO - Chapter 25:
Chapter 25: Intern Boyfriend Jiang Zhao
After the storm, the city shimmered under the sunlight, exuding a strange glow. The air carried the earthy scent of rain-soaked soil, fresh and revitalizing.
Inside Ren’ai Hospital, the most advanced medical facility in Jiangnan Hospital, the sharp scent of disinfectant lingered in every corner. Angels in white coats hurried through the corridors, coming and going in a rush.
In a private ward in the inpatient department, the breeze gently stirred the curtains, producing a soft rustling sound.
No one knew how much time had passed when Jiang Zhao, dressed in a patient gown, slowly opened his eyes. The white ceiling came into view, and a mix of disinfectant and a familiar fragrance filled his nose.
He instinctively turned his head to the side.
There, Qin Lingxue lay with her head resting on the bedside, her slender figure looking fragile. Tears still shimmered at the corners of her eyes, making one want to pull her into an embrace and comfort her.
Seeing her asleep like that, a weak smile finally formed on Jiang Zhao’s pale face. He lifted his hand, wanting to wipe away the tear at the corner of her eye.
But just as his hand reached mid-air, a gust of cold wind blew in, startling Qin Lingxue awake. Her confused eyes opened slowly. Then, she instinctively leaned toward the bed and saw Jiang Zhao’s eyes shut tight, as if he had never woken up.
She looked at the hand that had emerged from the covers, fell silent, and finally said coldly, “Does your hand walk on its own?”
Jiang Zhao opened his eyes helplessly and gave a sheepish smile, “Good morning, wife.”
“Who’s your wife?” Qin Lingxue stared at him coldly and added with an even icier tone, “Do you think your life is made of iron?”
Jiang Zhao lowered his head guiltily, unable to meet her sharp gaze, and muttered, “If you don’t want me anymore, then being alive or dead doesn’t make a difference.”
Qin Lingxue was stunned, clearly not expecting such words. She furrowed her brows slightly and crossed her arms, saying calmly, “What’s going on with that fiancée of yours in Jinling?”
Given a chance to explain, Jiang Zhao hurriedly recounted everything, leaving nothing out—everything about the Tang family, the Ye family, all of it in full detail.
After hearing it all, Qin Lingxue narrowed her eyes. A slight smile appeared on her stunning face as she said, “Stretch out the hand you used to hold hers.”
“Huh? Oh.” Though confused, Jiang Zhao obediently raised his right hand, unsure of her intent.
The moment his hand reached mid-air, Qin Lingxue raised her own and slapped it with full force. A burning pain surged through his palm, and Jiang Zhao quickly withdrew his hand, protesting, “What was that for?!”
“When you make a mistake, you have to accept punishment. Stretch it out again!” Qin Lingxue scolded.
Seeing her fierce and stern expression, Jiang Zhao wanted to cry but had no tears. He slowly extended his hand again—his palm already red and swollen.
He hadn’t even been a match for Qin Lingxue when healthy, let alone now, bedridden and weak. Each slap felt like it pierced to the bone.
Soon, two loud yelps of pain echoed in the quiet ward.
Just from the sound alone, one would feel a chill down the spine.
Moments later, Jiang Zhao curled up on the bed in despair, his right hand swollen and red.
Qin Lingxue leaned closer to his ear and whispered with dangerous meaning, “This time it was just three slaps. If there’s a next time and I catch you being that close with another woman, I’ll chop your claws off. Understand?”
Jiang Zhao nodded obediently, “I won’t. I swear I won’t.”
Seeing how obedient he was, Qin Lingxue finally nodded in satisfaction and added, “Also, stop calling me wife. You’ve never even confessed to me. We’re not even officially boyfriend and girlfriend.”
After what had happened, Qin Lingxue realized things had progressed too quickly between them. It couldn’t stand another hit, so she decided to slow things down and let the emotions settle.
“Ah…” Jiang Zhao’s face crumpled, and he muttered, “Then what was all this before? Just a physical transaction?”
Qin Lingxue sat on the edge of the bed, lifted his chin with one finger, and said calmly, “Man, you’re still on probation. I’m waiting for you to come with flowers and a ring to confess. As for whether you pass or not, that’ll depend on my mood.”
Their eyes met.
Lying on the hospital bed, Jiang Zhao said in a daze, “Then kissing and doing those… intimate things…”
“Of course not!” Qin Lingxue cut him off without hesitation and huffed coldly, “Wait until you’re officially promoted. Until then, no kissing, no touching. Got it, stinky man? I’ll be watching your performance.”
Jiang Zhao: “…”
Damn it. Just one trip to Jinling and he went from husband to intern boyfriend? That’s way too big a drop.
“Get some rest. I’ll come see you this afternoon.” With that, Qin Lingxue stood up, opened the door, and left the ward. Before leaving, she gave Jiang Zhao a look that said, “I’m rooting for you.”
After all, she couldn’t stay by his side all the time. The company still had a pile of things waiting for her.
Once she left, Jiang Zhao sank deep into thought, slumping on the hospital bed. He hadn’t even confessed… His dating experience was pathetically limited.
And now, if he wanted to bring his soft, sweet girl home, he needed to pass the probation. This couldn’t wait.
…
Jinling. Jinhua Hospital.
Inside a well-equipped private ward, the entire Ye family had gathered, watching the doctor examine the patient, hardly daring to breathe too loud, afraid to disturb the process.
The doctor in a white coat was equally tense, putting in his full focus, not daring to overlook even the tiniest detail.
This young lady from the Ye family had been in a coma for over twenty years. If she could wake up, not to mention the massive investment from Huangcheng Group—the hospital’s reputation alone would skyrocket.
Just as the tension peaked, the doctor finally finished his examination, took off his mask, and turned around with a smile, “Old Master Ye, congratulations.”
“Though we’re not sure of the exact reason, Miss Ye’s body functions are clearly recovering. At this rate, she’ll likely wake up within two weeks at most, or as soon as one week.”
Hearing that, Old Master Ye finally felt the burden lift off his shoulders. Supported by Ye Qianyun, he smiled in relief, “Good, good… After all these years, it hasn’t been in vain.”
