Chapter 35: Chu Ning Is Beyond Cure!

When it came to serious matters, Chu Ning was quite proper. After all, this involved their future plans—how could he not treat it seriously?

The Immortal Sword! Leave it to the Supreme Profound Sect? No way! Absolutely not!

Looking at the disciple before her suddenly turn serious again, Su Wanqing truly had nothing to say. Clearly, when he acted proper, he seemed decent. The only issue was that he wasn’t proper most of the time. Somehow, their relationship had naturally developed into this kind of dynamic.

If there was any awkwardness left between them… it seemed there wasn’t much anymore. She was letting things flow as they came. Cultivation Practice, human nature, emotions—she had come to see them more clearly. Chu Ning’s sincerity was so pure, she didn’t feel shame or annoyance.

But when this disciple didn’t see her as his master but as a woman instead, an unexplainable panic would rise inside her. By all logic, her temperament should be calm and composed. Perhaps, after losing her cultivation, she had unknowingly started relying on him?

No—ever since Chu Ning refused to leave that day, ever since he stood in front of her to protect her, things had already changed.

She stopped thinking about it. There was no use anyway. Su Wanqing had already given up trying to control it. Let him do whatever he wanted. She couldn’t control this rebellious disciple anymore.

Still, since it was a serious matter, Chu Ning wouldn’t treat it lightly.

“That Immortal Sword,” Su Wanqing said, “was something I obtained back in the day by joining forces with many powerful figures across the Three Mystic Sects. That was when you were still a child.”

Hearing this, the corner of Chu Ning’s mouth twitched. He suddenly realized there was nothing wrong with her saying that—he had indeed been raised by her. Tsk, wasn’t his behavior now a little too contrary to proper morals?

But so what? Older people were more loving!

“Back then, the Human Realm was in chaos. The Demon Realm, Beast Realm, and Chaotic Realm joined forces to attack because a grand secret realm had appeared in the Human Realm.”

Chu Ning vaguely remembered something about that. About ten years ago, Su Wanqing had frequently disappeared for over ten days at a time, returning each time covered in wounds before healing and heading out again.

Su Wanqing recalled that time and continued, “Everyone wanted the priority rights to explore the secret realm, so all races fiercely fought over it. Yet none of them could suppress the others—their forces were too evenly matched.”

“At that time, the Human Realm’s Dao Leader, Heavenly Profound Daoist—Heavenly Profoundzi—suggested a joint exploration. Suitable cultivators from each realm would enter, and whatever they gained depended on their own capabilities.”

Chu Ning asked curiously, “So Master entered too? But by rights, among the six great sects—Heaven, Earth, and Human—filled with countless Saint-level cultivators, how could you be qualified to go in?”

Su Wanqing gave a bitter smile. “Exactly, I wasn’t supposed to. Initially, Heavenly Profoundzi proposed each force select ten people. Heavenly Profound Sect was the top sect in the Human Realm, and Heavenly Profoundzi was the only one at the Celestial Manifestation Realm. Their Elders had over a dozen people at the Limitless Realm. Of course, others felt this was unfair.”

“So, the Dao Leader of the Chaotic Realm opposed it. They agreed to ten participants per force, but five should be personally selected, and the remaining five would be randomly drawn from a pool of fifty nominated by other factions. No Dao Leader could participate.”

“I was nominated by someone from the Chaotic Realm. Among all the participants, I had the weakest cultivation, only at the late 6th stage.”

Chu Ning couldn’t help but smile. “So Master got in?”

“No, it was through random selection. But Heavenly Profoundzi, knowing my background, rigged the draw. Even under those conditions, they still tried to bring in powerful individuals from their factions.”

Su Wanqing, at the 6th stage, was already comparable to a Saint! The top Prodigy of the Northern Region, a Sword Cultivator envied by countless factions, with battle records of slaying Saints!

“I entered with Heavenly Profoundzi’s consideration for the bigger picture. In the end, five Saint-level Limitless experts from the Heavenly Profound Sect, two Saint-level 7th stage cultivators from the Earth Mystic Sect, and two 7th stage Saints from the Human Mystic Sect went in with me.”

“All factions split up inside the secret realm to avoid internal slaughter. We acquired countless treasures. That Immortal Sword was one of them. Due to my weaker cultivation, I didn’t take other treasures and chose only that sword, then brought it back to the Supreme Profound Sect.”

Chu Ning was getting the picture. “It has an extraordinary origin?”

Su Wanqing narrowed her eyes and smiled. “If I told you it was the greatest legacy of the secret realm, would you believe it?”

Chu Ning shook his head. “Just an Immortal Sword? That can’t be the greatest legacy. Sect Master Chen Xuantian also holds an Immortal Weapon, doesn’t he?”

“What if I told you, that sword is just a fragment—a sword tip—but it’s already at the peak of the Immortal Weapon level and even possesses sentience?”

Chu Ning lost his composure completely! No wonder Master had always been fascinated by that thing!

Just a sword tip—yet already peak Immortal Weapon level!

Su Wanqing’s own sword was only at peak Spirit level. She had even forged one for him and Jiang Qingyue before. His was broken by Jiang Qingyue, and hers was broken by Chu Ning. Even so, a peak Spirit Weapon was strong enough to boost a Sword Cultivator’s killing power by at least 50%!

“This kind of item… wouldn’t the Three Mystic Sects refuse to hand it over?”

“But I already made it recognize a master. They can’t use it anymore.”

Chu Ning took a deep breath. “It already acknowledged you? But didn’t you say it was masterless?”

Su Wanqing smiled sweetly. “None of the Human Realm’s Dao Leaders have such a sword, but I brought it back. Outwardly, the factions of the Human Realm appear united, but inside they’re full of internal struggles. If I wielded that sword, they would’ve found excuses to attack the Supreme Profound Sect.”

“So I declared it masterless. Anyone acknowledged by it could wield it. I placed it on Sword Forging Peak to make sure the Three Mystic Sects wouldn’t feel threatened.”

“They could tolerate a Prodigy Sword Cultivator not from their sect, and even tolerate them reaching Saint level. After all, we’re all human. But they couldn’t tolerate a Saint-level Sword Cultivator wielding a peak Immortal Sword. A Saint wielding that could kill a Limitless cultivator!”

Chu Ning nodded fiercely. “So the sword already acknowledged you, but for the sect’s sake, you never used it and left it on Sword Forging Peak. But why now ask me to retrieve it?”

Su Wanqing rolled her eyes. “With my current cultivation, do you think it would still follow me? Do you think it’d come with me?”

Chu Ning went silent. “Probably not. Master is already too weak—can’t even beat your disciple anymore…”

Su Wanqing chuckled and scolded, “You insolent brat, you really dare say anything! But yes, that’s the idea.”

Her disciple wouldn’t look down on her, nor would he try to hide anything. She had lost her cultivation, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t regain it.

“What are you getting at, Master?”

“I was originally planning to fake a trace of the ethereal intent within you to make the sword think you were my original self. But I have no spiritual Qi now—it’s too difficult. However, since you’ve already grasped the ethereal intent, just go. It’ll follow you.”

As soon as she finished, Su Wanqing’s gaze turned strange. She even suspected that what Chu Ning comprehended wasn’t just ethereal intent—it was something far beyond her comprehension.

Just how was this brat cultivating?

Chu Ning suddenly understood and nodded. “Tomorrow seems like a good time. I can use the excuse that my weapon isn’t suitable and go to Sword Forging Peak to pick one. Then I can go find that sword?”

Su Wanqing nodded slightly. “People in the sect are all arrogant. They think that even I couldn’t claim the sword—how could anyone else? But those fools don’t understand what that sword truly represents.”

It represented that as long as Su Wanqing didn’t use it, the Three Mystic Sects would leave the Supreme Profound Sect alone. Yet even with that being the case, those fools still thought they’d won.

They were beyond help!

Back then, the Supreme Profound Sect wasn’t even qualified to be called a sect. It was still called the Supreme Profound Hall!

It was only after Chen Xuantian reached Saint level that the sect entered the ranks of the seven great sects in the Human Realm. The Saint that Su Wanqing had once slain was Chen Xuantian’s greatest enemy on the path of the Dao!

She should never have joined the Supreme Profound Sect!

She could’ve gone to the Heavenly Profound Sect as her backing. But back then, her master had saved her life, so she promised to serve the Supreme Profound Sect for life.

But now? Not anymore.

Now it was time to leave. For herself, and for her disciple.

“I understand now. Arrogant people are easier to deal with. Leave it to me.”

After saying that, Chu Ning blinked. “Master, it’s getting late. Should we head to bed?”

Su Wanqing’s beautiful eyes turned cold as she snapped, “You dare say you don’t know what that means? You really think I can’t tell?”

“Then why don’t you just say if we’re getting into bed or not?”

Su Wanqing curled her lips and stood up, walking toward the bed. “Say that to someone else and they’ll flay you alive the next morning—1,300 cuts and you’re not allowed to die until the last one.”

Chu Ning grinned as he followed, “But Master can’t bear to let her disciple suffer like that, right?”

“I can!”

As soon as she said that, a faintly fragrant robe was tossed directly onto Chu Ning’s head.

The meaning was clear.

Su Wanqing was accusing Chu Ning of sneakily stealing her clothes again!

But Chu Ning didn’t even realize it. He took the robe off his head and, right in front of her, took a deep, dramatic breath—like he was inhaling a legendary artifact.

Su Wanqing felt like dying right then and there. She couldn’t help but shiver.

“You… are beyond cure…”
