After My Master Lost All Her Cultivation, I Awakened the Wife-Pampering System! - Chapter 6:
Chapter 6: The Disciple’s Concern, Su Wanqing’s Gratitude
Supreme Profound Sect, Little Bamboo Peak.
This place was surrounded by green mountains and boundless clouds, its scenery defined by clusters of lush bamboo groves—thus the name Little Bamboo Peak.
Before the main hall stood a handsome young man in a purple robe, smiling faintly with his hands clasped behind his back. The disciples of Little Bamboo Peak traditionally wore blue robes. Changing into purple before returning here could only mean one thing—he no longer considered himself a Disciple of Su Wanqing.
And his address had changed as well—he now called her Elder Su.
As the door opened, Chu Ning stepped out.
Wang Tianyi froze for a moment. He recognized Chu Ning, of course, but why was he emerging from Su Wanqing’s Cave Residence?
Still, he didn’t think too deeply about it.
Though Su Wanqing had lost her cultivation, she was still a woman who valued her reputation above all else—she would never commit any improper act, especially with a disciple.
Wang Tianyi was the youngest among Su Wanqing’s students. Though by rank he had to call Chu Ning senior brother, he was already twenty years old and had always been displeased with Chu Ning’s existence.
Why should someone like Chu Ning, a man born without any cultivation aptitude, have been accepted as Su Wanqing’s Disciple?
Why had all their senior brothers and sisters treated him with forced respect, not daring to criticize him openly, only mocking him behind his back?
He knew the answer—Chu Ning was an orphan, picked up and raised by Su Wanqing herself. It was only because of her care that he held such status. Over the years, he had been free to take any resources he wanted, though he rarely did, knowing his poor aptitude made refining them difficult.
That only made Wang Tianyi’s resentment grow. Envy, jealousy, and now contempt.
Su Wanqing was a cripple now—there was no one left to protect Chu Ning!
Wang Tianyi’s lips curled as he looked at the blue-robed man walking toward him. “Chu Ning, isn’t Elder Su here?”
Chu Ning approached in silence, his face expressionless.
Seeing that, Wang Tianyi dropped the pretense. “She probably doesn’t dare to face anyone now, does she? Fine, I’ll be direct. My Master, Zhao Feng, is willing to offer 30,000 Spirit Stones per year to rent Little Bamboo Peak for cultivation purposes.”
Little Bamboo Peak was the most spiritually rich area in the entire Supreme Profound Sect. Even though Su Wanqing had fallen, no one dared to seize it openly. She had contributed too much to the Sect; to rob her outright would bring ridicule from the world and disgrace the Sect’s name.
But if they framed it as a “lease,” they could preserve appearances while achieving the same end.
Wang Tianyi smiled politely. “Elder Su and I are acquainted. It’s easier if I handle this personally. I’m sure she knows that accepting Spirit Stones now would benefit her more than clinging to pride.”
He then turned to Chu Ning, his tone casual. “Did you hear that? Go tell Elder Su, and make it quick—”
“Pah!”
A sharp crack echoed as Chu Ning’s leg whipped across Wang Tianyi’s face. The strike carried the demonic energy of the Heaven-Devouring Demon Art, sending blood spraying as Wang Tianyi collapsed to his knees, howling in pain.
Chu Ning’s face was cold.
Without a word, he reached out, clawed his hand into Wang Tianyi’s hair, and slammed his head hard into the ground.
Blood splattered across the stone floor.
Though both were at the 1st Realm, Wang Tianyi had only recently reached the peak Body Tempering. Chu Ning, however, had already mastered it completely—and with his demonic cultivation, his strength was overwhelming.
Wang Tianyi’s shock turned to terror. He couldn’t even resist! “Chu Ning! What are you doing?! My Master will have you executed!”
Chu Ning sneered, pressing his foot onto Wang Tianyi’s head. “Have you forgotten? Even if you’ve taken a new Master, you still owe me respect as your senior brother. Addressing me by name—do you think you can ignore hierarchy now?”
He leaned closer, his tone icy. “What should you call me?”
Pain ripped through Wang Tianyi’s skull, but he refused to yield. “My Master is a 6th Realm cultivator! Su Wanqing has no strength left. If you kill me, you’ll both die for it!”
Chu Ning laughed darkly. “Oh? Then tell me—if your Master is so powerful, why send you instead of coming himself?”
His words sliced through the air.
Everyone coveted Little Bamboo Peak’s abundant spiritual energy, but they all wore the masks of righteous men. No one dared move too quickly, for fear of damaging the Sect’s image. So Zhao Feng had sent Wang Tianyi as a pawn—a disposable messenger.
Yet Wang Tianyi was too foolish to see it.
He spat blood and glared upward. “Fine! I underestimated you, Chu Ning. I didn’t think you’d already reached the 1st Realm. But you’ll regret this!”
He snatched out his Elder Token and shouted a voice transmission. “Master! I’m being attacked—save me!”
No reply came. Only silence.
Chu Ning smirked coldly. “Idiot. The Sect Master and all the Elders are watching. Even outsiders are watching—waiting to see how the Supreme Profound Sect treats a fallen hero like my Master. Handle it wrong, and the Sect becomes a laughingstock. Do you really think your Master dares to act openly?”
It was the truth.
Every Elder was observing, weighing Su Wanqing’s fate. None would interfere unless the Sect Master gave the signal.
Human nature at its finest.
Chu Ning pressed down harder, his voice low. “Where’s your Master now, hmm? Let me see him.”
The killing intent in his tone made Wang Tianyi’s courage crumble. He tried to move but couldn’t. Panic filled his eyes. His Master had promised to intervene—but no help was coming.
“Senior Brother Chu! Please, spare me!”
Chu Ning’s expression didn’t change. With one swift motion, he stomped on Wang Tianyi’s face, knocking him unconscious.
Su Wanqing’s youngest disciple had been the first to betray her—and the first to pay the price.
Did they really think he and his Master were that easy to bully?
As long as righteousness was on their side, none of the so-called righteous elders would dare act recklessly.
And if they did, Chu Ning was ready to fight his way out with Su Wanqing.
He raised his head and shouted into the open air, his voice echoing across the mountain.
“My Master has contributed more to the Supreme Profound Sect than any Elder here! Which of you dares claim otherwise?!”
“The Sect Master himself decreed that she retains her position as Peak Master of Little Bamboo Peak! So I advise all Elders to leash their dogs. If anyone else dares cause trouble, they’ll answer to me first!”
[Ding! Defended your fallen wife. Reward: 5,000 Contribution Points.]
[System Evaluation: Your courage knows no bounds. No one pampers his wife like you do!]
Chu Ning twitched at the System’s remark.
It wasn’t courage—it was necessity. If he stayed silent, the trouble would only grow.
Better to act boldly now. The so-called righteous wouldn’t dare stain their reputation with open violence.
Wang Tianyi’s unconscious body was soon dragged away by an unseen force.
Chu Ning turned around and saw Su Wanqing standing at the entrance of the Cave Residence, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief. He smiled softly. “Master, the trouble’s been dealt with. You endured it for me before—now it’s my turn to handle things for you.”
He clasped his hands respectfully.
He didn’t dare approach too closely. There were surely people watching through scrying techniques, and being seen too near her might damage her reputation.
“Master, I’ll return to cultivation now. Please rest well. I’ll come again later.”
Su Wanqing stood in silence for a long moment, then smiled gently. In her time of downfall, the one standing up for her was none other than Chu Ning.
Warmth filled her chest, her heart lightened.
Watching his back disappear into the bamboo forest, she whispered softly, “Thank you… Ning’er.”
