After Rebirth, I Only Wanted to Slack Off, but a Clingy Goddess CEO Started Pursuing Me - Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: The New CEO Is Actually Yu Qingge?
The event at the high-end store had come to an end. Yu Qingge looked at He Li with a face full of grievance. If anyone else had heard her say she wanted to fall in love, they’d be overjoyed and wonder if they were dreaming. But this guy, not only was he not happy, he even got more cautious? After that, he kept his distance for the rest of the event.
Had her charm faded? No way. Just look around—despite wearing a mask, plenty of guys walking past were drawn in by her long legs and elegant aura, turning their heads again and again to look at her. Clearly, her charm hadn’t diminished. It just didn’t work on this block of wood named He Li.
“I’ve had countless suitors before. I’ve never even had close contact with any guy. I haven’t even said much to any of them! And now, the first time I see someone I like, I take the initiative and try to flirt, only to fail?” Yu Qingge frowned. “Could it be because he hasn’t seen my face yet? Yeah, that’s probably it. If I just take off the mask and let him see… he’ll definitely fall for my looks. Then we can… hehe!”
Yu Qingge smiled sweetly again, quickly catching up to He Li, who seemed to be walking faster and faster as if he wanted to shake her off. She darted in front of him and blocked his path.
He Li was dumbfounded. If he’d known this little tyrant would cling to him like this, he never would’ve agreed to help her get that Limited Edition Bag. Now look what happened—he helped her, and she was stuck to him like glue.
“Hey, what exactly do you want?” He Li stopped and couldn’t help but ask. Yu Qingge naturally wrapped her arm around his and tilted her head with a smile, “Don’t be so impatient. Didn’t I say I’d treat you to food?”
“Meeting like this is fate, and you even helped me. Plus, we’ve already done what should and shouldn’t be done. With our relationship, can’t you treat me a little gentler?”
He Li rolled his eyes. “First, nothing happened between us. Stop saying misleading things, alright? Second, I suddenly don’t want you to treat me to food anymore. And third, I haven’t been gentle enough to you?”
“I’ve already been super patient and gentle!”
Yu Qingge pouted, “Come on, a gorgeous woman like me invites you to dinner, and you’re not happy about it? Do you even know how many people in Ye City want to treat me to a meal but don’t even have the qualifications?”
“Besides, the dinner isn’t the point. I want to show you what I look like under this mask. Well? Don’t you want to see?” Her sweet smile returned as she pressed him again.
He Li shook his head, “No, I want to go home.”
“No, you do want to. I’ll let you go after you see it!” Yu Qingge said overbearingly and reached to take off her mask.
“What the—what is wrong with you, woman…” Hearing her forceful words, He Li was helpless. He was about to pull his hand away and say something before running off, but before he could finish his sentence, Yu Qingge had already removed her mask…
Her brows were slender and arched, her phoenix eyes shimmered like stars, her fair face glowed like jade, and her lips were a soft red under her elegant nose. Such a stunningly delicate face, combined with her tall figure and unique aura, made people lose themselves.
Even He Li’s heart skipped a beat.
Yu Qingge was very satisfied to see him stunned, “Well? After seeing my face, don’t you feel like today was a big win?”
“Don’t you regret not agreeing to be my boyfriend?” she asked with a grin. He Li finally snapped out of it.
Yu Qingge continued, “It’s fine if you regret it. If you nod now, there’s still time! So? Want to try being my real boyfriend?”
“Can’t handle it, not doing it, goodbye!” He Li quickly spat out those words and bolted.
Sure, Yu Qingge was breathtakingly beautiful, but He Li knew better than anyone that beautiful women often brought trouble. He had just started enjoying his peaceful, idle life—there was no way he’d let her ruin it. So fleeing at lightning speed was the only way.
Yu Qingge was left speechless as she watched him run off.
That guy… after seeing her face, he ran away even faster than before?
She didn’t get it. But that didn’t matter. What mattered was that she, Yu Qingge, had taken a liking to He Li. That’s why she approached him, flirted with him, and got close. She had already set aside her embarrassment and put in so much effort. There was no way she’d give up on him so easily.
“Man, I’m very interested in you. Sooner or later, I’ll make you my boyfriend!”
With a snort, Yu Qingge turned and left.
Elsewhere, He Li used the 1,000 or so yuan Yu Qingge had handed him as a reward and treated himself to a great meal before going home. Just as he arrived, he got a call from his colleague Wei Huo asking about game story progress.
After all, He Li worked as a story designer at Wuyun Studio under Jiuli Group—one of the biggest gaming companies in the country. Jiuli Group had tons of studios, and half the games on the rankings came from them. Wei Huo was a level designer, and since their work overlapped, the two often kept in touch.
But there were no urgent deadlines right now. Why was this guy suddenly asking about plot progress?
He Li asked curiously, “Why are you asking?”
“As long as I get the work submitted, we’re good, right? You’ve worked with me long enough—don’t you know me?”
“I do know you!” Wei Huo sighed over the phone. “That’s exactly why I’m checking in with you.”
“You’d better stop slacking off these days. I heard our lead planner is getting transferred. The new one’s probably arriving in the next couple of days. Also, the new CEO’s coming tomorrow.”
“You know what they say—new boss, new rules. If you’re not careful… heh, don’t blame me if you lose your job!”
Wait, what? A new CEO? Oh yeah… that was a thing.
Still, a CEO was so far above his role as a story designer that he didn’t pay much attention. He simply nodded, “Got it. By the way, where’s our lead planner being transferred to?”
“Next door. Didn’t the company just open a new studio? They need an experienced planner there…”
Listening to Wei Huo, He Li shook his head. Getting sent next door counted as a transfer? Sure, whatever.
After chatting a bit more, He Li happily played games, ate a late-night snack, and slept in the next morning. He strolled into work humming a tune, feeling great.
Just as he was settling down to write a new plot, carefully planning to slack off without getting caught in front of the new boss…
“He Li? Who’s the story designer named He Li in this studio?”
A voice came from the doorway, and everyone looked up.
Standing there was the CEO’s secretary, Wei Wei.
What was she doing here? Everyone was puzzled. The CEO’s secretary was always busy attending to the CEO and never bothered with lowly planners like them. Yet today, she had shown up. Not only were others confused—even He Li himself was stunned.
Still, he got up and responded, “That’s me. Do you need something?”
As he spoke, he walked toward her.
Wei Wei shook her head, “Not me. The CEO wants you to attend a meeting.”
“What?” He Li froze. Wei Wei turned and said, “Stop dawdling. Come with me quickly.”
“The new CEO isn’t exactly easy to approach. Just… be careful.”
Wei Wei was kind. She’d always give a heads-up when something was serious.
He Li started to feel uneasy. He’d never even seen this new CEO before—why was he being summoned by name to a meeting? Weren’t those usually reserved for executives or the lead planner?
It was too weird. At first, He Li couldn’t figure it out.
Then he walked into the meeting room and saw the familiar figure seated in the CEO’s chair…
“Yu… Yu Qingge?!”
His pupils practically trembled.
Yu Qingge also saw the stunned He Li standing at the door. Unlike her bubbly self from yesterday, she now wore a cold and commanding expression, with a powerful aura as the corner of her lips lifted ever so slightly…
Sweating already, aren’t you? Man!
