Chapter 57: Cang Qingtian’s Letter of Challenge

The next morning, before Li Wanji had even gotten out of bed, the letter was already delivered.

“I am here under orders from Grandmaster Cang to deliver a letter to Li Wanji. Tell him to come out and receive it!” Two middle-aged men stood at the gate, shouting loudly.

“Just give me the letter. My boss is busy right now and doesn’t have time to meet you,” Hong Yue said calmly.

The two men’s faces darkened at her words. One of them snorted, “Hmph, what could he possibly be busy with this early in the morning?”

“Tell him to come out. This is a letter from a grandmaster. What kind of attitude is this!”

Hong Yue replied coldly, “Of course he’s busy with his morning training. Did you think everyone runs around like stray dogs like you two?”

“You!” The two men were instantly enraged.

“Do you even know who we are?”

Hong Yue scoffed, “Aren’t you just Cang Qingtian’s lapdogs?”

“You little tramp, you’re looking for death!”

Their anger exploded as they raised their fists to fight.

“Come on then!” Hong Yue drew her weapon and began brawling with them.

…

Second floor.

“What’s happening outside?” Chen Lanyi opened her pretty eyes and turned her head toward the window.

“Hong Yue’s fighting someone. Don’t worry about it. Let’s keep sleeping,” Li Wanji said lazily, hugging her soft body as he closed his eyes again.

“You can sleep all you want, but I’ve got class this morning!” Chen Lanyi pouted and lightly punched him with her pink fist.

“I’m used to sleeping while holding a beautiful woman. If there’s nothing in my arms, I can’t sleep properly,” Li Wanji mumbled half-asleep.

“You’re impossible,” Chen Lanyi sighed, but let him hold her anyway. She was a little sleepy too. Wrapping her white arms around his neck, she hooked a leg over his waist and nestled into his arms to continue sleeping.

“It’s too noisy outside. Tell them to quiet down,” she muttered, frowning slightly.

Li Wanji raised a hand and cast a soundproof barrier.

Instantly, the room became eerily quiet—they could even hear each other’s heartbeats and breathing.

“Quiet enough now?” Li Wanji smiled, looking at the beauty in his arms.

“Mhm… don’t talk, I’m sleepy…” Chen Lanyi mumbled as she drifted off again.

Li Wanji smirked. This girl was becoming more and more dependent on him.

Doing something consistently for three months becomes a habit. Do it for three years, and it’s hard to quit.

He was confident that before long, this stunning beauty wouldn’t be able to leave him.

“Chen Fan, weren’t you supposed to be so amazing?” Li Wanji thought excitedly. “By the time you return, your sister and your woman will be mine—mind, body, and soul. Wonder if you’ll break down when that happens.”

They slept till noon. Chen Lanyi, wanting to sleep in longer, just called in and asked for leave.

Meanwhile, Hong Yue had already beaten the two middle-aged men, tied them up, and left them sunbathing in the courtyard.

“A letter from Cang Qingtian?” Li Wanji frowned, opened the envelope, and pulled out the thick rice paper inside.

“Very formal. Rice paper and calligraphy brush… as expected of a grandmaster,” he remarked.

He skimmed the contents. It basically said that Cang Qingtian was aware of everything that had happened recently in Mingyun.

He warned Li Wanji to release Chen Fan’s women and sister and to return their assets. Finally, he demanded Li Wanji leave Yanhuang, or else he would take matters into his own hands.

As for what would happen next… that was obvious.

If a grandmaster acted personally, ordinary martial artists wouldn’t even have the chance to escape.

Li Wanji sneered in disdain. “A mere grandmaster, and he dares threaten me?”

He tossed the letter casually into the trash bin.

The two bound middle-aged men turned pale when they saw this.

“How dare you disrespect Grandmaster Cang!”

“Release us now! Otherwise, the Cang Dragon won’t spare you!”

Li Wanji’s face turned cold. “Annoying.”

He pointed his fingers, releasing a golden laser-like beam that pierced one of the men right through the forehead.

“Let the other one go. Tell him to return and deliver the message—if Cang Qingtian wants to kill me, let him come. Just because he guarded the border for a few years doesn’t mean he’s invincible!”

“Yes.” Hong Yue untied the remaining man.

Li Wanji flicked his finger. The dead body instantly ignited and burned to ash.

The remaining man was terrified and fled in a panic.

“Boss, Cang Qingtian broke through to grandmaster ten years ago and has been stationed at the border ever since. He’s fought numerous powerful foreign ability users without a single defeat,” Hong Yue said thoughtfully. “His strength may have already reached the level of a great grandmaster!”

“So what if he’s a great grandmaster? I can crush him with a single finger.”

“Alright, let’s go have some fun. Staying home is getting boring.”

Li Wanji shouted, “Guoguo, Yiyi, let’s go shopping!”

“Hong Yue, stay home and protect Bai Ya. If anything happens, call me.”

After giving his instructions, he left with the two beautiful girls for a stroll.

…

A few hours later, the surviving middle-aged man boarded a plane and returned to the Cang Dragon stronghold.

“Grandmaster Cang!”

He bowed respectfully upon meeting Cang Qingtian.

“Hmm, the letter’s been delivered, right? Was he frightened upon reading it?” Cang Qingtian asked, holding an elegant celadon teacup and gently scraping the rim.

“Uhm…” The man’s expression turned awkward. “Not only was he not afraid, but…”

“Speak freely,” Cang Qingtian said calmly.

“Not only did he kill Silver Spear, but he also mocked you. He said you’re just a mere grandmaster and dreaming if you think you can kill him. He said he could crush you with one hand.”

“Forgive me, Grandmaster. I’ve shown great disrespect,” the man knelt and begged.

“He really said that?” Cang Qingtian frowned, his elderly face full of displeasure.

“Yes. That man was extremely arrogant. I even told him the letter was from you, but he didn’t come out to receive it and tied me up instead!”

“I later learned that in the early morning, he was upstairs hugging a beautiful woman while sleeping. In his eyes, that woman was more important than a letter from you, Grandmaster!”

The man spoke rapidly.

“Hmph. A young man who’s already broken through to grandmaster… it’s no wonder he’s arrogant. I could overlook his indulgence in beauty, but to ignore me? Does he have no respect for the martial world’s elders?”

“If I don’t teach him a lesson, who knows what he’ll dare do next!”

Cang Qingtian clenched his large hand. Crack crack—the fine teacup shattered into dust between his fingers.

“Enough. You may leave. Xiao Wu, come out and assist me in writing something.”

“Yes, Grandmaster.” The man left.

A young woman stepped out from behind the house.

“Grandfather, are you sending another message to those Western freaks with transformation abilities? Is it the Blood Temple this time? Or the Church of Light? Maybe Dragon Island? Or X Corporation?”

The girl walked to the table and picked up a brush.

Blood Temple, Church of Light, Dragon Island, X Corporation—these were major powers in the Western underground world. Among them, X Corporation was the most mysterious. The ability-sealing locks originated from them.

“This time it’s not someone from overseas. It’s a young man from Yanhuang.”

“What kind of person would make a grandmaster like you personally write a letter?” the girl asked in surprise.

“He’s a newly advanced grandmaster… a little too arrogant. I must take action. Help me draft a formal letter of challenge.”

“This time, I will issue a public duel—so the world can witness his defeat and crush his arrogance,” Cang Qingtian said slowly.
