Chapter 7: An Opportunity That Cannot Be Erased

After Uncle Meng left, Su Ming began refining the Sunfire Spirit Herb. If he didn’t absorb it soon, there was no guarantee that fate wouldn’t redirect it into Chu Fan’s hands. Besides, this herb could help him break through to the Longevity Realm—there was no reason not to use it. Keeping resources without using them? What was he, some kind of villain who drops equipment after getting eliminated?

Meanwhile, Ye Nantian had already returned to Li Jianping’s side.

“You returned just in time. Chu Fan is only a step away from refining his special constitution. If he takes the Sunfire Spirit Herb now, he’ll surely form the Sunfire Spiritual Body.”

However, upon hearing this, Ye Nantian wished he could tear Su Ming apart. He furiously released his spiritual Qi in a fit of helpless rage and then shouted angrily, “Sect Master! That little bastard Su Ming got to the Sunfire Spirit Herb first!”

“He claimed he needed it to break through and sent his Dao Guardian to take it!”

Li Jianping was stunned. He had previously confirmed Su Ming’s realm, and if he was going to attempt a breakthrough to the Longevity Realm, requesting some resources was acceptable.

But why ask the Dao Guardian? Why specifically the Sunfire Spirit Herb?

The first point was still understandable—Su Ming might just want to use the Trinity Saint Sect’s cultivation resources. But the second part? Completely inexplicable. A coincidence? Could that even be possible? Was there really such a thing as so many coincidences in this world?

Li Jianping instinctively began scanning the surroundings. He suspected now that their every move had been monitored by Su Ming’s Dao Guardian.

Yet after triple-checking the formation, Li Jianping remained certain that no one had discovered its breach.

“Then how did Su Ming know?”

Just as he was wondering, a mocking voice echoed from above. It was Uncle Meng.

“You people from the Trinity Saint Sect really love your disciples, huh? It hasn’t even been three incense sticks’ time since you threw them in here, and you’ve already come in to keep them company?”

“Or is this the kind of punishment your sect gives—having the sect master and master accompany the disciples to ensure their safety?”

Uncle Meng’s sarcastic words threw Li Jianping into self-doubt once more.

For him to say that meant the Dao Guardian assumed they were simply treating Chu Fan’s injuries—he hadn’t realized they were helping him refine his special constitution.

“Could it really have been a coincidence?”

But Uncle Meng clearly wasn’t going to let them think it over quietly.

“Are you leaving Flame Prison Cliff on your own, or do I have to beat you out of here?”

“The punishment area is indeed Flame Prison Cliff, but not the core region. I’ll be reporting this incident.”

Li Jianping knew well that now wasn’t the time to clash with Uncle Meng. The priority was to make sure Chu Fan successfully obtained his special constitution—even if it wasn’t a perfect Sunfire Spiritual Body.

“You didn’t hear me?” Uncle Meng growled. “I said leave, now!”

With no more patience, he unleashed an attack using the surrounding spiritual Qi of heaven and earth.

His assault targeted only Li Jianping and Ye Nantian—it was clear he just wanted to drive them away.

Li Jianping had to stabilize Chu Fan’s condition, so he couldn’t fight back with full strength.

“Damn it! Do they think I won’t fight back?!” he cursed under his breath and stopped the refinement process for Chu Fan.

Faced with a choice between preserving Chu Fan’s physique or protecting himself, he chose survival.

Now, only one option remained to save Chu Fan’s special constitution.

Li Jianping moved to hold off Uncle Meng, then shouted at Ye Nantian,

“Take your disciple to the Trinity Saint Pool!”

Without hesitation, Ye Nantian carried Chu Fan and Chu Yiyi away.

Uncle Meng wanted to stop them but, delayed by Li Jianping, could only watch helplessly as they escaped.

“Have you thought about how to explain this to the Young Master?”

“I’ll explain to Su Ming myself! A servant like you doesn’t need to worry!”

…

[Host has interfered with the Child of Destiny’s opportunity. Gained 500 Destiny Points.]

Su Ming frowned when he heard the system prompt.

Interference wasn’t severance—not the result he wanted.

So this Child of Destiny’s opportunities were that unshakable?

“System, if I spend Destiny Points to sever Chu Fan’s opportunity, will he still get more chances afterward?”

[When the system intervenes, the host can rest assured.]

That reply instantly revealed the system’s uniqueness.

Unlike Su Ming, who interfered manually, the system intervened directly by consuming Destiny Points—this seemed to be the crucial difference.

And most of the Destiny Points Su Ming had collected came from Chu Fan.

In other words, these Destiny Points originated from the Child of Destiny himself.

“So essentially, the system is using fate to fight fate. No wonder it doesn’t cause any chain reaction afterward…”

“System, what exactly can Destiny Points be used for?”

[They can help the host open the Destiny Vision, interfere with, suppress, sever, or seize the Child of Destiny’s opportunities.]

Su Ming understood most of that—but what was the Destiny Vision?

“System, can I activate the Destiny Vision now?”

[Each use of Destiny Vision lasts 10 seconds and consumes 1,000 Destiny Points.]

With 5,500 Destiny Points on hand, opening it for ten seconds wasn’t a problem.

But then the system prompt interrupted his thought.

[Detected: Child of Destiny is acquiring an enormous opportunity. Consume Destiny Points to interfere?]

“Damn it! Again?!”

Even Su Ming couldn’t help but curse.

He had just severed one of Chu Fan’s major opportunities, interfered with another, and now a new enormous one appeared out of nowhere.

Oh? So being the Child of Destiny meant you could just keep chaining cheats like this?

Fine. Let’s see how long you can keep this up.

“System, give me the most direct option—I want to destroy this Child of Destiny’s opportunity!”

[Consume 5,000 Destiny Points to alter the quality of the Three Saints Golden Lotus Chu Fan consumed. He will end up with a crippled bloodline power and an incomplete special constitution.]

After reading the prompt, Su Ming instantly understood what had happened.

Clearly, Li Jianping had stalled Uncle Meng, allowing Ye Nantian to take Chu Fan to the Trinity Saint Pool.

Out of love for his disciple, Ye Nantian had ignored sect rules and helped Chu Fan refine multiple Three Saints Golden Lotuses.

As a result, not only did Chu Fan gain a special constitution, he also activated a hidden bloodline power—just like in the original novel.

This cheat was going too far.

Su Ming didn’t dare delay any longer—if he did, Chu Fan would probably gain another opportunity thanks to his fate.

“System, deduct the Destiny Points and destroy Chu Fan’s opportunity!”

[Destiny Points deducted. This enormous opportunity will now result in Chu Fan obtaining a crippled bloodline power and an incomplete special constitution.]

“A crippled bloodline and a flawed special constitution… this is the best outcome for now. If Chu Fan can’t repair them in the future, they’ll become burdens after the Nirvana Realm!”

But Su Ming knew even without thinking—if he didn’t interfere, fate would surely help Chu Fan perfect both.

“Damned fate! I’ll crush you one day!”

“Exactly—fate is garbage. It deserves a beating!”
