Chapter 6:

On this continent, alchemists were the most respected professionals, and pill formulas were the very foundation of their craft.

If an alchemist obtained a valuable formula, it meant they possessed both wealth and influence, earning admiration from all. Without a formula, even the most skilled alchemist was like a clever woman with no rice to cook.

The two bottles of pills Qin Chuan had taken from Qin Xuan weren’t particularly powerful, yet they could still fetch a high price in Guiyun City—this was precisely the reason.

Soon, Qin Chuan arrived at the alchemy market in Guiyun City.

He spent all 1,500 spirit crystals to purchase two bottles of Spirit Origin Pills, one bottle of Essence Recovery Pills, and a beginner’s guide to pill refinement.

With that done, he immediately set off toward the Guiyun Mountain Range.

The Guiyun Mountains were home to many Profound Beasts. The spiritual energy there was rich, but danger was everywhere. However, it also contained many rare natural treasures.

Qin Xuan’s earlier intrusion had given him an idea: if he remained at the Qin family estate, there was no telling how many more people might disturb his cultivation during the next seven days.

Rather than deal with that, he decided to find a quiet place to train.

On one hand, the spiritual energy in the Guiyun Mountains was abundant, and strong Profound Beasts roamed freely—he needed real combat experience, something he couldn’t gain inside the Spirit Furnace space.

On the other hand, he could also look for medicinal herbs needed for refining pills.

Having made up his mind, Qin Chuan set off for the Guiyun Mountains.

…

At the Qin family estate—

Inside Qin Xuan’s courtyard, the Fifth Elder stood by the bed, his face cold as frost. He stared at the nearly crippled Qin Xuan with eyes full of murderous intent.

At that moment, the Great Elder entered the courtyard, glanced at Qin Xuan, and said bitterly, “Old He, your grandson Xuan’er is a once-in-a-generation talent. His future was boundless. Yet that Qin Chuan—killing my grandson wasn’t enough, he even crippled yours!”

Originally, Qin Xuan had been afraid his grandfather would scold him for provoking Qin Chuan without reason. But hearing the Great Elder’s words, his eyes lit up as he wailed, “Grandfather! You must avenge me!”

“This Qin Chuan has gone too far!” Seeing his precious grandson in such a state, and with the Great Elder fanning the flames beside him, Qin He slammed a nearby stone table into pieces with a palm strike.

The Great Elder’s eyes narrowed, a subtle smile flashing across his lips.

Qin He turned to a servant and demanded coldly, “Where is Qin Chuan right now?”

“T-The Young Master… Qin Chuan left Guiyun City. He seems to have gone into the Guiyun Mountain Range,” the servant stammered.

“He ran?” Qin He’s face darkened instantly. He assumed Qin Chuan had fled to the mountains in fear.

The Great Elder patted Qin He’s shoulder and said in a low voice, “That place is full of Profound Beasts. It’s not unusual for someone to die in there…”

Qin He froze, then hesitated. Killing the Qin family’s young master outright gave him pause.

Sensing his hesitation, the Great Elder added temptingly, “Feng’er is already dead. If you get rid of Qin Chuan, I will make sure your grandson Xuan’er becomes the next young master.”

“Really?” Qin He’s eyes lit up, and desire flickered across his face.

The Great Elder didn’t say a word—he just nodded firmly.

Seeing this, Qin He hesitated for a moment, then his eyes turned cold. “Fine. I’ll go!”

With that, he left with murderous intent.

As Qin He’s figure disappeared, the Great Elder sneered to himself. “That idiot wants his pig of a grandson to be the young master? He should look in the mirror before dreaming so big.”

Then his expression darkened further. “Qin Chuan… you’re as good as dead.”

Although Qin He was the weakest Elder in the Qin family, he was still at the 1st stage of the Profound Master Realm. Against someone like Qin Chuan, who was only at the 6th stage of the Profound Realm, he was more than enough.

…

At that moment, Qin Chuan had already gone five miles deep into the Guiyun Mountains and arrived at a quiet valley.

After walking for a while, he suddenly stopped. On a tree not far ahead, he spotted several bright red fruits.

“2nd-grade spirit herb—Scarlet Fruit!”

Qin Chuan’s eyes lit up as he immediately recognized the plant.

It was the primary ingredient in the 2nd-grade Spirit Origin Pill described in the Origin Core Scripture. Even when consumed directly, it could improve one’s cultivation speed. Its value was substantial.

ROAR!

Just as Qin Chuan was about to pick the fruit, a deafening roar exploded in his ears.

He turned and saw a massive gray wolf with glowing red eyes, glaring at him like prey.

“Steeltooth Wolf. 2nd-rank, 4th-grade demon beast!”

Qin Chuan narrowed his eyes, instantly identifying it.

On the Tianyuan Continent, Profound Beasts were ranked from 1st to 10th tier, mirroring human cultivators’ realms.

A 1st-rank beast was equivalent to the Body Refinement Realm, 2nd-rank to the Profound Realm… and a 10th-rank beast was equal to a Profound Emperor!

Qin Chuan silently scolded himself. He’d been careless, letting excitement over the herb distract him. Powerful spirit herbs often had guardian beasts nearby.

ROAR!

The Steeltooth Wolf roared again, its blood-red eyes locked on Qin Chuan. It clearly viewed him as prey.

The next moment, it lunged straight at him. Its claws gleamed coldly under the sunlight.

“Perfect. I needed something to warm up with.”

Qin Chuan smirked. Ever since his dantian was destroyed, then later entering the Abyss of Buried Heavens, he hadn’t fought in a long time. His hands were already itching for battle.

With a flicker, Qin Chuan vanished from his spot, using his family’s movement technique—Shadowless Step—to dodge the fierce strike.

As he slipped past the beast’s attack, he let out a low cry and punched hard at its abdomen.

AWOO!

The Steeltooth Wolf was sent flying by the blow, tumbling across the ground before quickly scrambling back to its feet.

“Incredible defense…” Qin Chuan’s eyes flashed with surprise.

That punch would’ve severely injured any ordinary 4th-stage Profound Practitioner, yet the beast recovered as if nothing had happened.

ROAR!

Furious, the Steeltooth Wolf bellowed again. Though Qin Chuan’s punch hadn’t seriously harmed it, it had been thoroughly enraged.

The wolf opened its massive jaws, blue light flashing within. It suddenly fired multiple wind blades directly at Qin Chuan.

“Innate skill—Wind Blade!”

Qin Chuan’s brows twitched slightly.

Every demon beast was born with innate techniques. Stronger-blooded beasts could even possess multiple.

These wind blades, if they hit an ordinary 3rd-stage Profound Practitioner, would cause serious injury—or outright death.

But Qin Chuan wasn’t ordinary. His countless life-or-death battles had forged his battle instincts to perfection.

“Flame Palm!”

He shouted, and a surge of intense Profound Energy erupted from his right hand. He struck forward with a burning palm print that collided head-on with the wind blades.

BOOM!

The explosion from the energy clash sent a shockwave blasting outwards, tearing through the valley. Trees bent and snapped under the pressure.

At that moment, Qin Chuan tapped his foot, used Shadowless Step again, and darted like a dragon to the side of the Steeltooth Wolf. He struck hard at its waist.

The wolf had just used its Wind Blade and didn’t expect Qin Chuan to close the distance so fast. It tried to dodge, but it was too late.

BOOM!

With a heavy thud, Qin Chuan’s strike crushed the wolf’s side. Its body collapsed inwards, and all of its internal organs were destroyed.
