Chapter 62: Luo Lin:

A few more days passed, and now there was only one day left until the grand competition. Tomorrow was a big day!

At this moment, in Xia Yuran’s room, she sat with her eyes closed, spiritual energy flowing around her as she made her final efforts to improve and break through. After a long while, she opened her eyes, a hint of frustration flashing in them.

“Damn it! Just a little more!”

She was so close—just a bit more, and she could have made a breakthrough into the Spirit Martial Realm.

Over the past month, she had been training tirelessly.

Bai Feng and the others had given her all the resources they could, helping her with everything they had. Her strength had reached the peak 9th stage Spirit Refinement Realm, but she still wanted to make breakthrough into the Spirit Martial Realm. If she could achieve that, she could dominate Jiang Ruoxi in front of everyone at the grand competition, finally settling the score.

Unfortunately, her talent and the limitations of her resources meant she couldn’t overcome that final barrier in such a short time.

“Reaching the peak 9th stage Spirit Refinement Realm is still pretty good! No matter how strong Jiang Ruoxi is, she should only be at the 9th stage Spirit Refinement Realm, right?” Xia Yuran stood up, trying to reassure herself.

A month ago, Jiang Ruoxi had only just brokethrough into the 9th stage Spirit Refinement Realm. In a month’s time, she should only be at the late stage of the ninth level, just like Xia Yuran herself. In other words, she still had a chance to defeat Jiang Ruoxi!

“Jiang Ruoxi, this time, I absolutely won’t lose to you!” Xia Yuran said firmly. “And Ling Kong, I’ll make you realize what a huge mistake you’ve made!”

“Hmm? Young lady, you look very upset,” a voice suddenly whispered in her ear.

Xia Yuran quickly looked up, scanning her surroundings. “Who’s there?”

The voice felt like it was right beside her ear, even resonating directly in her mind. But there was no one around.

“I’m outside. Come on out.” The voice continued.

Xia Yuran immediately opened the door and stepped outside. She saw a woman sitting at a stone table in the courtyard. The woman was dressed in a form-fitting black outfit, her face delicate and stunningly beautiful. There was an indescribable heroic spirit between her brows. She was not only beautiful but also exuded a cool and confident aura.

The woman sat there, her chin resting on her palm, looking at Xia Yuran as if she could see right through her, piercing every part of her being.

“Who are you…” Xia Yuran asked, her eyes filled with curiosity as she stared at the woman in front of her.

Such a powerful presence—she had only felt this kind of aura from the senior members of the Sword Cloud Sect. This person must be a powerhouse on the same level as the sect master or the elders. Yet, she had never seen her before.

“Me? I’m just a passerby…” The woman stood up, walking toward Xia Yuran with a smile. “What do you think I look like?”

Xia Yuran looked at the woman in front of her and instinctively replied, “Like… a fairy?”

Indeed, this person was so beautiful that she gave off a fairy-like vibe.

“Hmm… a fairy? Well said!” The woman smiled warmly. “I like you.”

“Uh…” Xia Yuran was a bit speechless.

Why would she like her? And what kind of ‘like’ was she talking about?

“I’m just a fairy passing by! I noticed you seemed unhappy, so I came to chat with you!” the woman continued, smiling.

“Then… may I ask, fairy sister, what’s your name?” Xia Yuran asked curiously. “Are you from the Sword Cloud Sect?”

“Me? I’m called… Luo Lin! And no, I’m not from the Sword Cloud Sect,” Luo Lin replied with a smile. “But I can come and go as I please here, and no one minds.”

Xia Yuran understood. “So… you must be an honored guest of the Sword Cloud Sect?”

“Hmm, you could say that.” Luo Lin smiled before asking, “Earlier, I sensed you were very upset. Why? Tell me about it.”

“I… it’s nothing, just a personal matter.” Xia Yuran lowered her head slightly.

“A personal matter? Is it a love issue?” Luo Lin asked with a grin.

Xia Yuran didn’t respond, but her silence was confirmation enough.

“It’s okay, you can tell me. I’ve been through it all before; I can give you some advice!” Luo Lin encouraged.

Xia Yuran looked up at Luo Lin’s face and saw her warm smile. Suddenly, she felt a sense of closeness.

Who was this person?

Why did she appear here so suddenly?

A passerby?

Did she just happen to notice Xia Yuran was feeling down and decided to chat?

Was this… fate?

Feeling that sense of familiarity, Xia Yuran immediately decided—yes, this must be fate!

“Well… it’s nothing much. It’s just that… there’s this really annoying guy who did something very upsetting,” Xia Yuran admitted, feeling comfortable enough to open up to Luo Lin. Who knows, maybe this person could actually offer some useful advice.

“A man, huh?” Luo Lin smiled.

“Mm!” Xia Yuran nodded.

“I absolutely hate men who upset women! Tell me, what kind of guy is he?” Luo Lin asked with a smile.

Of course, she already knew that the man Xia Yuran was talking about was Ling Kong. She had heard that Ling Kong seemed to have a crush on a girl in the Sword Cloud Sect named Xia Yuran. So, when she arrived at the sect today, the first thing she did was come to find Xia Yuran.
