Chapter 64: Taught a Lesson by a Junior?:

But wasn’t she still the third party?

As an elder, it was her responsibility to address this sort of situation.

“What’s going on?” Jiang Ruoxi looked directly at Luo Lin.

“It’s nothing, really. I just heard that you’re called a witch?” Luo Lin said, observing her closely.

“By whom? Xia Yuran?” Jiang Ruoxi sneered.

Bingo.

“Then why do you care? And… doesn’t it bother you being called a witch?” Luo Lin asked curiously.

“I don’t mind.” Jiang Ruoxi responded flatly.

After all, she was the Young Mistress of the Demon Sect. Whether people called her a witch or a demon, she didn’t care. Eventually, the world would label her that way anyway.

“Well, you have a calm mind. I like that,” Luo Lin nodded, then added, “But I don’t appreciate you stealing someone else’s man.”

“What did you say?” Jiang Ruoxi’s eyes narrowed.

Stealing someone’s man? Was that something Xia Yuran told her?

“Seems like you’re bothered by this, huh? It looks like you care about him a lot too.” Luo Lin smirked.

So, both girls were in love with Ling Kong.

What to do?

In such cases, wasn’t it about who came first?

Jiang Ruoxi, after all, inserted herself into the picture.

Even though she seemed like a great match for Ling Kong.

“I didn’t steal anyone’s man! I’m just with the person I like!” Jiang Ruoxi retorted firmly.

“But he didn’t like you at first!” Luo Lin replied.

As soon as she said that, Jiang Ruoxi’s expression darkened. She remembered everything that had happened, but she also recalled Ling Kong’s words.

“He said he never liked anyone else—only me!” Jiang Ruoxi declared.

Ling Kong had said so, and she chose to believe him over anyone else.

Ling Kong had only associated with Xia Yuran to steal her luck, not because he had any feelings for her.

“Ah, you’re so confident!” Luo Lin chuckled. “But listen to me—leave Ling Kong.”

“Impossible!” Jiang Ruoxi replied immediately.

Leave Ling Kong?

How could she, having just gotten together with him? It wasn’t going to happen. She had long decided that Ling Kong was the only one for her—forever and always!

“Your determination is impressive.” Luo Lin’s smile faded, and a powerful aura began to emanate from her. “I’m telling you to leave him.”

Boom!

A tremendous pressure enveloped Jiang Ruoxi. The force made it hard for her to breathe. This woman in front of her had power that was likely on par with the Honor Realm. Where did she come from?

Did Xia Yuran find her as a backup?

“You shouldn’t try to steal someone else’s boyfriend. You’re the third party here!” Luo Lin continued. “So, you should let him go and let things return to how they were.”

“I didn’t steal anyone, and I am not a third party!” Jiang Ruoxi pushed back against the overwhelming pressure. “I won’t leave him!”

“Are you certain? You’ll regret it,” Luo Lin warned, frowning slightly.

“As long as I’m with him, I’ll never regret it!” Jiang Ruoxi’s voice was firm.

“Very well then.” Luo Lin’s aura intensified, but Jiang Ruoxi remained resolute, refusing to back down.

“Fine, I was just teasing.” Luo Lin finally withdrew her oppressive aura.

She had no intention of truly bullying a young girl.

With her strength, she could have easily eliminated Jiang Ruoxi with a single move.

In reality, she only wanted to test Jiang Ruoxi, to see if she was truly the witch who had stolen Ling Kong. But now it was clear—Jiang Ruoxi was genuinely in love with Ling Kong. Even under immense pressure, she didn’t waver. This didn’t seem like the behavior of a seductress or a witch.

When the pressure dissipated, Jiang Ruoxi took a relieved breath. “Hmph!”

Xue’er, the Ice Phantom Wolf cub in her arms, also let out a little growl at Luo Lin.

“Hm… I heard this Ice Phantom Wolf cub isn’t originally yours?” Luo Lin asked.

“Whatever he gave me is mine!” Jiang Ruoxi replied, her face tense. “Who are you?”

Why would this person even bring up such things? And why try to make her leave Ling Kong in such a manner?

“You’ll know soon enough.” Luo Lin’s smile returned as she asked, “Do you really like him?”

Jiang Ruoxi averted her gaze and responded calmly, “It’s not for you to say.”

She knew her relationship with Ling Kong. It was enough for her and Ling Kong to understand. She didn’t care what anyone else thought. There was no need for anyone else’s opinion.

“Well, that’s fair. It’s not for me to say.” Luo Lin nodded slightly.

Even though this girl had a cold demeanor, unlike Xia Yuran’s lively enthusiasm, she was sincere in her feelings for Ling Kong. Moreover, her temperament matched his quite well. For now, she decided not to trouble her.

Since both these girls liked Ling Kong, she would observe them closely to see what kind of people they were. Then, she’d leave the choice to Ling Kong. As an elder, she felt responsible for guiding them, but ultimately, the decision would be Ling Kong’s.

“I’ll be off then! I was just teasing, so don’t be upset!” Luo Lin waved her hand as she prepared to leave.

“Did Xia Yuran ask you to pull this prank on me?” Jiang Ruoxi suddenly asked.

“Uh…” Luo Lin laughed awkwardly. “Of course not. Do you think she could influence me?”

“But you’ve met her before, haven’t you?” Jiang Ruoxi pressed.

“Well… yes, I have.” Luo Lin admitted.

This girl was sharp—she had guessed everything!

“Let me remind you. You met her first, so you might have been influenced by what she said. You should understand the situation clearly and judge for yourself!” Jiang Ruoxi advised firmly.

She could guess what had happened.

No matter who this Luo Lin was, she must have met Xia Yuran first before coming to her.

Because she met Xia Yuran first, Luo Lin was likely biased in Xia Yuran’s favor. That was why she had come with preconceived notions and acted this way toward her.

“Hm… well… you might be right.” Luo Lin scratched her head, her authoritative image crumbling.

Perhaps she had indeed been a bit biased?

Did she unconsciously assume Xia Yuran was in the right?

Darn it! Was she just taught a lesson by a junior?

“Go ahead! I don’t care who you are, but as long as he and I understand each other, that’s all that matters!” Jiang Ruoxi said calmly. “And don’t think anyone can separate us!”

“Noted.” Luo Lin nodded but then frowned.

Wait a minute!

She was the elder here! Why did it feel like this girl’s presence is stronger than her?

She came to teach her a lesson, but it seems like she ended up being the one taught!

“Hey! Where’s my dignity as an elder?”

Cough, cough!

Luo Lin quickly composed herself, trying to regain her authoritative expression. She resumed her elder-like demeanor and said calmly, “Well, I’m quite optimistic about you. If you truly like him, then go for it!”

With that, she turned and flew away.

Jiang Ruoxi watched her leave, deep in thought.

Who exactly was this person? It didn’t seem like she was on Xia Yuran’s side, so why was she meddling in other people’s affairs? Strange!

Shrugging it off, Jiang Ruoxi carried Xue’er inside and prepared to sleep.

…

The next day.

As the first rays of the morning sun emerged from the east, the entire Sword Cloud Sect buzzed with excitement, reaching the most lively moment of the year.

Compared to the previous hunting competition, the grand competition was even livelier! The hunting competition had only been for the Sword Cloud Sect’s disciples, but today’s event involved everyone within the sect. All the high-ranking officials, including the sect master, would be present to observe their disciples.

If a disciple were to gain a direct master, their cultivation journey would be smooth sailing from then on! After all, having a mentor was far better than traveling thousands of miles alone. With the right guidance, one could avoid many detours.

At the summit of Sword Cloud Sect, in the massive square, countless disciples had gathered, filling the area with a deafening hum. The square was lined with numerous fighting platforms, both large and small, set up for the competition.

The rules for today’s competition were straightforward—one-on-one duels! You could challenge whoever you wished. If you won, you could take your opponent’s rank. One person could also challenge multiple people and be challenged by multiple opponents.

To ensure fairness, the sect had prepared potions to restore physical strength. In short, the disciples were encouraged to challenge their rivals freely.

The Sword Cloud Sect would take care of everything else.

At the center of the expansive square, a high platform was erected. Soon, the high-ranking officials of the Sword Cloud Sect would gather there to oversee the competition. They would select disciples if they saw fit. Naturally, all disciples aimed to perform their best today, as the results would determine whether they were chosen by one of the sect’s masters.

This was the culmination of all their hard work over the past year. Whether they succeeded or failed depended on today.

On the high platform, the ninth elder stood, her jade-like hand forming a seal as she waved gracefully.

Hum!

An enormous ice-blue crystal canopy formed, providing shade over the entire platform. The elders would enjoy the shade while watching the disciples compete. Meanwhile, the disciples below had to endure the scorching sun.

“Elder goddess, can you expand it a bit to cover the entire square?” some disciples pleaded from below.

“Yeah, yeah! It’ll get really hot by noon!”

“Please, elder! It’s just a small effort for someone as powerful as you!”

Several disciples looked up, admiring the ninth elder and pleading with her.

However, she shot them a stern look. “Get lost! If you have the skill, create it yourself! If not, endure the heat!”

“Uh…”

Many disciples were left speechless. The ninth elder was indeed beautiful, but she had a harsh temperament. Her words, while sharp, still made sense.

Despite her strictness, she somehow didn’t come off as unlikeable. Many disciples even enjoyed interacting with her, even if it meant receiving a cold lecture.

After all, who wouldn’t like a beautiful elder like her?

As time passed, more and more people gathered in the square.

Perched on top of a tall, ancient tree at the edge of the square, Ling Kong sat quietly. Just then, a familiar fragrance wafted by as Jiang Ruoxi leaped up, holding Xue’er, and sat beside him. In the past, she wouldn’t have dared to sit so close to Ling Kong, but now, she felt comfortable being near him.

“I met someone strange last night. She told me to leave you,” Jiang Ruoxi said with a frown.

Ling Kong, already suspecting something, asked, “Who?”

“She said her name is Luo Lin. She seems very powerful, but I don’t know where she came from.” Jiang Ruoxi explained.

Ling Kong immediately understood. It had to be her. She was really here yesterday?

“What did she say to you?” Ling Kong asked.

“At first, she told me to leave you. But later, she said she supported me…” Jiang Ruoxi proceeded to recount her encounter with Luo Lin from the previous night.

After listening, Ling Kong’s eyes narrowed slightly. “So, she’s already approached Xia Yuran?”

It was just as he thought—Xia Yuran was blessed with luck. He had intended to keep his aunt and Xia Yuran apart, but his aunt had sought her out as soon as she arrived yesterday. Xia Yuran must have received some help from her.

“Well, that explains it. She misunderstood, but I don’t blame her,” Jiang Ruoxi nodded. “I’m just curious—what does our relationship have to do with her? Why is she getting involved?”

“She’s probably just too nosy.” Ling Kong sighed.

Luo Lin was still single and overly concerned with his affairs, always acting like an elder.

“I think so too.” Jiang Ruoxi agreed.

“Huh? Xia Yuran… has she broken through to the Spirit Martial Realm?” Jiang Ruoxi suddenly frowned, looking toward the square.

Amid the crowd, a group of youths surrounded a young girl—it was Xia Yuran. Bai Feng and the others were naturally among them. Jiang Ruoxi could immediately tell that Xia Yuran had reached the 1st stage Spirit Martial Realm.

Ling Kong also looked over.

Indeed, Xia Yuran, the daughter of luck, still had her fortune on her side. Even if he had taken some of her opportunities, she was still able to find others. Reality sometimes deviates from the original plan. She must have received help from his aunt; otherwise, it would have been nearly impossible for her to break through to the Spirit Martial Realm so quickly.
