Chapter 2: Flipping the Table!

“You still think you’re tough, huh? Shut your mouth! A live-in son-in-law has no right to eat at the table. The Su Family’s rules have always been strict. Why can’t you accept that? You’re spending our money, living in our house, driving the car we bought for you—what right do you have to get angry? What qualifications do you have to lose your temper!?”

Zhang Xiaofeng let out a furious laugh, turned his head to look around the grand villa living room, then glanced at the luxurious staircase and the chandelier above. After a long moment, he gave a cold laugh and nodded, “Fine. Fine. You’re absolutely right. Let’s just say I’m the one at fault! I shouldn’t have come to the Su Family. I shouldn’t have fallen in love with your daughter. It’s all my fault! I’m done with this meal! The wedding? Cancel it!”

BANG!!

Zhang Xiaofeng kicked the table again, then reached under it, grabbed the edge, and with a forceful twist of his wrist—flipped the whole thing over!

With a loud crash, the lavish feast on the table spilled onto the floor—soups, sauces, and dishes all splattered across the ground.

The guests were stunned. One of them quickly stood up, trying to ease the tension, and said, “Brother, calm down. It’s just their family rule. Rich families tend to have rules, it’s normal…”

“Shut up! They have rules, so I’m not even human anymore? Let me ask you—is Zhang Xiaofeng a human or not!?”

The guest went silent, dumbfounded by the question. Zhang Xiaofeng turned again and stared straight at Su Qianghai, shouting, “Su Qianghai, I’m not asking for anything else today. I just want to know—do you see me as a human being or not!? Am I a human being!?”

Before Su Qianghai could speak, Wang Dajuan stood up, grabbed her handbag, and threw it at Zhang Xiaofeng’s head.

BANG! The metal clasp on the bag struck his forehead, leaving a bloody cut.

“You eat our food, live in our house, drive our car—what right do you have to be angry? I don’t care if you’re a person or not. As long as you live in this house, you follow our rules! Don’t think graduating from Qingbei makes you special. You can work your whole life and still never earn a fraction of our wealth!”

Zhang Xiaofeng looked around the room, burning with rage. “Fine. Fine. So you’ve raised your hand? I won’t fight back because I don’t want to end up in jail. Consider it my loss today. I get it. In your eyes, I’m just a mangy dog from some backwater dump! Well, listen closely—all of you—from this moment on…”

Before he could finish, Su Qianghai cut in coldly, “From this moment on what? If it weren’t for your skills, you think we’d let you step foot in this house? Now that you’re the fiancé of a woman from a multimillion-yuan family, you think you’re someone special? I’m not dead yet!”

“To hell with your money! I never gave a damn about your wealth!”

Su Yuebai suddenly screamed, “How dare you yell at my dad!? Who do you think you are!?”

Zhang Xiaofeng turned to her, his eyes icy, and roared, “Fine! I won’t ask them. I’ll ask you. Am I, Zhang Xiaofeng, not even a goddamn human being!?”

“You’re yelling at me now?! Fine! If you don’t want to be our son-in-law, then leave! My family doesn’t need someone like you. No more wedding—get lost!”

“I’ll leave right now! Who wants to stay!?”

Zhang Xiaofeng stormed up to the second floor. Soon, the sound of smashing objects rang out. Su Qianghai rushed up, followed by the others, only to find the bedroom in chaos. Zhang Xiaofeng was using a hammer to destroy every wedding photo—photos taken when he and Su Yuebai got engaged. Since there would be no wedding now, there was no point in keeping any of it. Destroy it all. Cut ties completely.

If this was how they treated him before the wedding, it would only get worse afterward!

Su Qianghai and Wang Dajuan stood there, furious but not stopping him. Su Qianghai roared, “Smash it all! Go ahead! I want to see how much you regret giving up the chance to marry into a multimillion-yuan family!”

They believed Zhang Xiaofeng would definitely regret this. They were sure he’d never have another chance like this in his life. He had just missed his shortcut to success!

Su Yuebai grew angrier the more she watched. The six years of memories from college until now were being turned into rubble. She was livid, her face flushed green with rage.

As for the guests, none of them spoke. They all understood—it was the Su Family who had crossed the line. How could they treat someone like this? He was a human, not a dog. What kind of people were they?

Su Yuebai screamed, “What are you doing!? Zhang Xiaofeng, are you insane today!? You want to smash things? Fine! I’ll smash them with you! Even if you regret this later, don’t you dare come looking for me! I’ll never forgive you!”

“Who the hell wants your forgiveness? I’ll live better without you people!”

Without lifting his head, Zhang Xiaofeng kept smashing until all the wedding photos were destroyed, reducing every trace of the past to rubble.

From the moment Su Yuebai told him to move in, he had felt uneasy. Even putting aside everything else, just dealing with her parents daily was already awkward. But she insisted, so he came. He believed his gentle nature would help him blend in. He thought that someday, when her parents got old, he’d take care of them. As for their family fortune, he was fine with everything under Su Yuebai’s name. He never wanted a single yuan.

But now? Wife? In-laws? To hell with it all. He was done!

Su Yuebai picked up a hammer herself and smashed the already broken pieces even further until everything was beyond recognition. When it ended, she was dripping with sweat.

As for Zhang Xiaofeng, he looked fine. He had grown up poor and was physically strong. That was part of why Su Qianghai valued him. He could do the work of three men, and more importantly, his work ability was excellent. Su Qianghai had even told him before that when he could no longer manage the company, he’d pass it on to Zhang Xiaofeng. But now, all Zhang Xiaofeng could think was, “Screw your damn company. I’m done with all of you!”

Zhang Xiaofeng glared at Su Qianghai, his voice cold and low, “Everything’s smashed. From today on, I have nothing to do with your family. We’re done. Completely.”

Su Qianghai burst into laughter, “Then get out! Let’s see just how much you regret this!”

“Yeah! Let’s see if you can eat your ambition!” Wang Dajuan shouted angrily.

“It’s just your multimillion-yuan assets. I don’t care! I’ve got hands and feet. I’ll earn my own!”

Zhang Xiaofeng then turned and fixed a cold stare on Su Yuebai. He said in a frosty voice, “Delete every post we’ve made on social media—Moments, QQ Space, all the lovey-dovey crap. From today, everything between us is over. Erased. No more contact.” As he spoke, he took out his phone and began deleting.

Su Yuebai gritted her teeth and snapped, “Fine! You said it. Don’t regret this!”

“I never regret anything! Hurry up and delete. Once it’s done, I’m out of here!”

“Xiaoyue, delete it all! Even his number, his WeChat—cut off every connection! Let’s see if his so-called ambition can feed him!” Su Qianghai shouted.

Out of spite, Su Yuebai began deleting. Ten minutes later, she had erased everything. Zhang Xiaofeng, however, had finished eight minutes earlier. He looked at her coldly and said, “The engagement is off. Everything’s deleted. Goodbye.”

With that, he turned and headed downstairs.

Su Yuebai gritted her teeth and yelled, “Don’t come crawling back! You’re no longer welcome in this house!”

“You’ve got issues! Who the hell was it who begged me to move in in the first place?!”

Su Qianghai was furious. He shoved Zhang Xiaofeng and cursed, “Who the hell are you yelling at?!”

Zhang Xiaofeng hit the wall, knocking his head. He growled, “I’m yelling at all of you! If I’d known how inhuman you people were, I’d never have joined your company or become your son-in-law. Get out of my way! I’m leaving!”

Su Qianghai lunged, trying to slap him, but a guest rushed over to stop him, saying, “Brother Qiang, calm down. You’re both too worked up. Don’t escalate this. If it turns physical, it could become serious…”

They feared the situation might turn violent. Both men were fuming. If Zhang Xiaofeng really snapped and went to buy a knife from the supermarket… who knew what could happen? Even the most honest people could be driven to the edge.

Su Qianghai seemed to realize this too. He took a deep breath and tried to regain control. “Go! Leave! And never come back!” He turned to Wang Dajuan and Su Yuebai and said, “Say something. See him off.”

“Get out! Never show your face here again!” Wang Dajuan yelled, stomping her feet in anger.

Su Yuebai gritted her teeth and shouted, her nose held high, “Leave now! Stop being an eyesore!”

Zhang Xiaofeng didn’t even look back as he strode out the door.
