I Am the Villain Who Plunders Everything From the Protagonist - Chapter 9:
Chapter 9: Throw the Jacket Away
Huo Yunzhi looked at the incredibly handsome man standing nearby. His face hadn’t changed at all from before, but his presence had undergone a complete transformation.
At that moment, Shen Yan stood there looking at her with a faint smile on his face.
She snapped back to her senses and thought calmly to herself, I will never regret this!
Huo Yunzhi tried her best to smooth over the strange ripple in her heart, warning herself that regret would never be an option.
Just then, Huo Shenghan let out a sigh and slowly said, “You can break off the engagement. But everyone in the circle of celebrities knows our two families were to be joined by this marriage. If we suddenly call it off, there will be endless gossip.”
Shen Huaishan nodded in agreement. Old Master Huo was his father’s sworn brother, and he still had to give him some face. “If we rashly announce the cancellation of the engagement, it will indeed damage both families’ reputations.”
After a long silence, Huo Shenghan sighed again and said, “How about this? There’s still some time before the engagement ceremony. I’ll give you one month to reconsider. If you both still want to break off the engagement after one month, then I’ll agree to it.”
Shen Huaishan nodded as well. “That’s a fair compromise.”
What the hell? A whole month?
Upon hearing this, Shen Yan felt completely exasperated. Who knew what might happen in a month?
“No need to think about it. I’ve made up my mind, Old Master Huo,” he quickly said.
“This matter is settled!” Huo Shenghan’s face darkened.
In the end, Huo Shenghan said, “I’ll give you one month to cool off. If you still want to break up by then, I’ll support your decision.”
Huo Yunzhi opened her mouth, her face visibly filled with disappointment, but she still accepted it. Her grandfather agreeing to the breakup was already the best outcome. She only needed to endure one more month.
However, Shen Yan looked extremely unwilling. Unfortunately, Old Master Huo had already pulled Shen Huaishan aside, and both elders were ignoring him.
Huo Yunzhi looked at Shen Yan, gently biting her lip, her eyes filled with confusion.
Shen Yan… has he really let go? Or is he sacrificing himself for my sake?
“This matter is settled,” Shen Huaishan said as he walked up to Shen Yan. “Come with me. I have something to ask you.”
Right then, Shen Yan’s temper flared. This old man from the Huo Family was trying to suppress him, not even giving him a chance to speak?
That old bastard and his damned nonsense! Who gave him the right to control my life?!
Thinking this, Shen Yan suddenly roared, “I said no!!!”
Everyone was startled by Shen Yan’s outburst, turning their eyes toward him.
Shen Yan let out a cold laugh. “Old Master Huo, look at the disappointment all over your granddaughter’s face. Don’t you see what she really wants?”
“Miss Huo clearly can’t wait another month.”
Of course Huo Shenghan could see the disappointment on Huo Yunzhi’s face. He had just been about to scold her for it.
Shen Yan said lightly, “Just as well. I don’t want to wait either. Even if she could, I couldn’t!”
“Let’s end this now!”
Huo Shenghan had been planning to talk them down, but Shen Yan’s next sentence made his expression change drastically.
“Don’t interfere with me finding a girlfriend!”
He even said something like that now—clearly showing how determined he was.
On the side, Shen Huaishan had seen enough to realize his son really didn’t like her anymore. And he wouldn’t let anyone force his son into something he didn’t want, much less let others bully him.
So he spoke coldly, “Then let’s do it now! Immediately! Cancel the engagement!”
Huo Shenghan was about to say something more, but when he met Shen Huaishan’s cold gaze—the kind that carried an unmistakable hint of menace and warning—he fell silent.
There was no turning back now. Three against one. With three people opposing, Old Master Huo couldn’t make the decision alone.
“This matter is settled!” Shen Huaishan said coldly, putting the final nail in the coffin.
Huo Shenghan truly had no other choice at this point.
In the end, he closed his eyes in defeat and nodded. The engagement was officially void. From now on, neither family would mention a marriage alliance ever again.
Huo Shenghan personally escorted Shen Yan to the door, sighed, and said, “We’ve wronged you.”
“Whether our families are connected by marriage or not, Grandpa will always be your supporter. If you need anything, come to me.”
“All these years, I’ve treated you like my own grandson.”
Shen Yan only nodded on the surface. In his heart, he felt utterly disgusted. Oh please. In the original novel, you helped Lin Yu scheme against the Shen Family. How dark your heart was, how ruthless your hand!
Treat me like your own grandson? Is there a grandpa who tries to destroy his grandson’s entire family and drive them to ruin?
Besides, Shen Yan had no interest in calling someone else grandpa. He wasn’t in the habit of being someone else’s grandson.
Still, he offered a few polite words, thanking Huo Shenghan for the gesture.

After walking out of the Huo Family’s gates, Shen Yan finally let out a long sigh.
It felt like half the crushing weight on his shoulders had been lifted.
But… still only half.
He thoughtfully recalled the original plot.
In the original novel, the hidden crisis within the Shen Corporation seemed to start around this very point…
“Looks like I’ve still got a lot to do—like taking control of the company. That alone will keep me busy.”
Huo Yunzhi followed behind Shen Yan, holding his suit jacket in her hands.
It was the same jacket Shen Yan had draped over her earlier. Her clothes had gotten a bit torn during the earlier struggle, and Shen Yan had kindly covered her with his jacket.
Now, Huo Yunzhi was preparing to return it.
Seeing Shen Yan looking so relaxed, she felt a strange, indescribable emotion in her heart—like something was stuck, and she couldn’t shake it.
Wasn’t she supposed to be the one who felt relieved right now?
Huo Yunzhi called out, “Hey, here’s your jacket.”
Shen Yan waved his hand and said with a smile, “Throw it out for me. I have a bit of a cleanliness issue—I don’t like touching things that others have used.”
After that, Shen Yan added, “I’ve got a car now. No need for you to see me off.”
He completely ignored Huo Yunzhi’s stunned face, climbed into the Bentley, and drove away, leaving behind a trail of exhaust.
Cleanliness issue? Throw the jacket out? Huo Yunzhi muttered, repeating those two phrases to herself.
Then it hit her. A wave of suffocating frustration surged in her chest. She almost collapsed on the spot.
She stared at the jacket in her hand. Her fair cheeks flushed red with rage, and she gritted her teeth. “Shen Yan, just you wait!”
That man had basically called her dirty!
Inside the black Bentley, Shen Huaishan and Shen Yan sat together.
“Shen Yan, what exactly is going on here?” Shen Huaishan asked coldly as soon as they got into the car, clearly still upset about what had just happened.
