Chapter 52: Long Tian’s Confidence—The World’s No. 1 Mercenary Team:

Taking advantage of the moment, Ye Liuyun lifted Qu Yingmeng into his arms with a smile.

“Madam, you’re incredible, and it’s not just your acting skills!” He teased.

“You’re such a bad guy!” She replied playfully, but still leaned against him, not wanting to move away.

“Let’s go! Today, you’re all mine!” Qu Yingmeng said firmly, wanting to avoid any interruptions.

Ye Liuyun just smiled, not refusing her company.

But just as he was about to start driving around—

Ye Liuyun noticed something and raised an eyebrow. Qu Yingmeng, noticing his reaction, became curious.

“Are they from Zhao Shen?” She asked as they noticed a car following them closely.

Ye Liuyun was surprised by Qu Yingmeng’s keen observation. He had only detected the tail thanks to his full-level anti-surveillance ability.

“Whether they’re Zhao Shen’s people or not, we’ll find out soon enough.” Ye Liuyun said with a sly smile. The road ahead led to a suburban area with less traffic.

[Full-level driving ability! Let’s see if they can keep up!] He thought.

Qu Yingmeng understood what he was planning and fastened her seatbelt, ready for what was to come. In the next instant—

Vroom!

Although the car wasn’t a supercar, Ye Liuyun’s full driving ability made it move like one. In a flash, they sped away.

“Have we been spotted?”

The driver of the following car noticed the sudden acceleration.

“Don’t worry, no one can outdrive me!” The white man at the wheel said confidently. With a smirk, he pressed the accelerator, determined to catch up with Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun quickly figured out.

Despite the reputation of this mercenary team in the novel as an almighty force, Ye Liuyun remained calm.

As the car’s speed continued to climb, Ye Liuyun expertly made his way through traffic, dodging cars as if he could predict their movements. Perfect turns, seamless drifts—he executed them all effortlessly. 

Although the cars weren’t far apart in terms of performance, they quickly became separated. Before long, the other car was nowhere in sight.

“Damn it!”

The confident white driver was now slamming his steering wheel in frustration.

“Who is this guy? Does he not slow down at all when taking corners?” He fumed, realizing his once-proud driving skills had been thoroughly outclassed.

“Relax!”

His companion in the passenger seat waved off his frustration.

“We were only here to take photos and gather information anyway. Let’s just head back and report to the boss” He said, showing the phone in his hand.

Meanwhile, unable to see the tailing car anymore, Ye Liuyun began to slow down.

“Liu… Liuyun…”

Qu Yingmeng’s voice reached his ears, breathy and filled with excitement. Her eyes were glazed over, the thrill of the high-speed chase still coursing through her.

“You’re amazing!” She exclaimed, still reeling from the adrenaline rush.

“What I’m really good at isn’t just driving this car. I’m also skilled at driving other ‘cars’.” Ye Liuyun hinted suggestively. 

Qu Yingmeng instantly understood his meaning. Without another word, she unbuckled her seatbelt.

“I want it now!” She demanded, her desire overtaking her.

It wasn’t until nightfall that Long Tian’s two team members returned.

“Why so late?” Long Tian asked, frowning as he looked at them.

It shouldn’t take all day just to gather some information.

The two mercenaries exchanged uneasy glances, unsure of how to explain. They couldn’t exactly tell their boss they’d been pulled over by traffic police for speeding.

“Ahem! Boss, we got the information!” One of them finally said, handing over his phone filled with the photos they’d taken earlier.

Long Tian, not concerned with the time anymore, took the phone and began looking through the photos.

“Boss, do we really have to stay in a place like this forever?” One of the mercenaries asked, looking at the old building they were currently using as a hideout.

The entire team, consisting of seventeen members of various backgrounds, was crammed into this unfinished structure, hidden away from prying eyes.

“Don’t worry! I’ll have us living in a mansion soon enough!” Long Tian said confidently as he scrolled through the photos.

“We’re the number one mercenary team in the world. This place doesn’t suit us!” He added dismissively. Though the conditions they were living in were harsh, Long Tian saw it as a temporary setback. He was determined to reclaim everything he had lost.

“Is this all the information?” Long Tian asked after viewing all the photos.

“Yes, Boss!” the intelligence officer confirmed with a nod.

“Zhao Shen is Zhao Hao’s only son, but you’ve already dealt with him. He’s barely hanging on to life now. Other than that, the Zhao family has no significant members left. Oh, and Zhao Shen also has a very young wife.” The mercenary added.

Long Tian paused as he recognized Qu Yingmeng in the photos.

He hadn’t known her identity before, but now he did.

“Once Zhao Shen is taken care of, I’ll have Qu Yingmeng to ease my stress!” Long Tian thought, recalling how he hadn’t had the opportunity to be with a woman since returning to the nation.

And Qu Yingmeng, with her beauty that could captivate an entire city, wasn’t someone he intended to let slip away.

The mercenaries exchanged knowing smiles, familiar with Long Tian’s tendencies.

“Boss!”

Suddenly, a team member working on a computer spoke up.

“Someone’s coming—it looks like Zhao Shen!” He said, watching the movement on the screen.

Long Tian’s confident smile widened as he stood up.

“Let’s deal with these intruders and then go straight to Zhao Shen!” He ordered, ready to confront whatever challenge awaited him.
