I Am The Villain's Lackey With Sign-in System - Chapter 63:
Chapter 63: I Was Completely Deceived. I Am Not Rebelling, But Just for the Future of Dragon King Palace:
“If you don’t believe me, just ask Yang Shen!” Yan Man had long known that Zhang Ning had no understanding of such things, so she seemed entirely unconcerned.
“Well!” Yang Shen, in fact, had been just as surprised when he saw that the gift Yan Man prepared was a bell. Now, as he caught Zhang Ning’s curious gaze, he hesitated momentarily. But after regaining his composure, he nodded, though he felt conflicted inside.
“In terms of value, that’s true!” He admitted. It was indeed worth that much! However, it didn’t change the fact that this gift was, essentially, just a clock. He couldn’t understand why Yan Man was clearly trying to trick Zhang Ning.
“Hiss!” Zhang Ning’s eyes lit up with excitement upon hearing Yang Shen’s confirmation.
‘Hundreds of millions yuan!’ He thought to himself, thrilled at the idea.
When he presented this extravagant gift, surely no one else could match its worth! Zhang Ning was more eager than ever.
Yan Man, observing him, smiled slightly.
“The Warring States bell is actually a musical instrument,” she explained. “In ancient times, people used to invite musicians to play it at banquets. That’s why it’s so special! If you don’t believe me, you can ask Yang Shen again.”
“Well! If you keep testing me like this, I might actually lose patience.” Yang Shen thought.
Yet, seeing the expectation in Zhang Ning’s eyes, he nodded honestly once more.
“Yan Man’s explanation is correct.”
“Perfect!” Upon confirmation, Zhang Ning lowered his guard entirely. Without hesitation, he carefully placed the Warring States bell back into its gift box and packaged it nicely.
“Thank you, Yan Man!”
“You’re welcome,” Yan Man replied with a smile, satisfied with how things were unfolding. Her smile deepened as she watched Zhang Ning cradling the box, looking like a landlord’s naive son.
Meanwhile, Yang Shen couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Young Miss!” he began, but before he could continue, Long Tian entered the room.
“Master!”
It was just the timing for Zhang Ning, who was about to leave, to bump into Long Tian head-on.
“Hmm?” Zhang Ning and Long Tian stared at each other, momentarily stunned. The encounter of two “children of destiny” was rarely peaceful.
Zhang Ning felt a strange unease toward this man he’d never seen before, a sense that this person was destined to be a barrier in his path.
“Who are you?” Zhang Ning demanded, but Yang Shen quickly stepped in, sensing the tense atmosphere.
“Ahem! Long Tian, we have important matters to handle right now. Let’s discuss your concerns later.”
“I understand, Master,” Long Tian replied, realizing that Yang Shen was subtly protecting him. He narrowed his eyes, studying Zhang Ning.
;So, this is the young master of Dragon King Palace? One day, all of this will be mine.’ He thought to himself, determined.
With a respectful nod to Yang Shen, Long Tian left, while Zhang Ning continued to glare at his back, irritated.
“Who is he?” he demanded.
“Young Master!” Yang Shen began, slightly taken aback by Zhang Ning’s curiosity, but he answered nonetheless.
“Long Tian is a disciple I recently accepted.”
“A disciple?” Zhang Ning nodded, appearing thoughtful. Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he declared, “Expel him from the Dragon King Palace!”
This wasn’t a suggestion; it was an order, spoken as though Zhang Ning believed anything he desired could be done without question.
“Expel him?” Yang Shen was stunned. They had just met, so where was this intense dislike coming from? Furthermore, Yang Shen valued Long Tian and had no intention of letting him be cast out so easily.
“Young Master, perhaps…” Yang Shen started to speak, but Zhang Ning raised his hand, cutting him off.
“I’m the young master of the Dragon King Palace and the next Dragon King. I can do whatever I want!”
Yang Shen fell silent.
Given Zhang Ning’s position, he had no grounds to argue.
Zhang Ning, sensing no resistance, continued, “Oh, right, what were you trying to tell me earlier?” he asked, remembering that Yang Shen had seemed to want to say something when he was about to leave.
“It’s nothing,” Yang Shen replied with a smile. He had been intending to warn Zhang Ning about the gift, but now, with Zhang Ning so sure of himself, he merely said, “I was just going to say that this gift is quite impressive. You’ll definitely be the center of attention at the birthday party.”
“Hahaha! I thought so!” Zhang Ning laughed, beaming with pride. He picked up his gift box and left confidently.
The room fell into silence. Yang Shen, looking down thoughtfully, was interrupted by Yan Man.
“It seems you’re quite invested in Long Tian.” She said.
Even if Yang Shen hadn’t fully cooperated with her earlier, she had other ways to achieve her goal. Still, she hadn’t expected him to help her in the end—was it because of Long Tian?
After a long pause, Yang Shen finally replied, “I just think it’d be a shame if Long Tian’s potential remained wasted.”
“It’s up to you,” Yan Man replied indifferently. She had no interest in getting involved further. Giving Yang Shen a cool look, she continued, “Whatever you decide to do is your own business. I won’t interfere.”
With that, she turned and left.
Yan Man knew Ye Liuyun would be attending the birthday banquet, so she had already made plans to go as well.
Yang Shen watched her leave, puzzled by how much she’d changed from the loyal and devoted follower of the old Dragon King he once knew. But he had more pressing matters to attend to. Yang Shen informed Long Tian of everything that had just transpired.
“Expel me from the Dragon King’s Palace?”
Long Tian was genuinely surprised when he heard the news. However, recalling the tension he felt with Zhang Ning just moments ago, he realized it made sense. It was a classic case of “either you or me.”
“Don’t worry,” Yang Shen reassured him. “In secret, you’re still my disciple.” He didn’t want Long Tian to read too much into the situation. But Long Tian wasn’t concerned about being officially cast out; he had his own plans. He had already started cultivating Hundred Evil True Form, and the effects were impressive. His power was advancing faster than ever before.
After a moment of thought, he looked directly at Yang Shen.
“Master, do we really want to live under others our whole lives?”
In the past, Yang Shen would have immediately nodded, loyal to the Dragon King Palace without question. But now, influenced by Long Tian’s protagonist aura, he felt doubts setting in.
“Master!” Long Tian said with a slight smile. He sensed his silence was already an answer.
“The old Dragon King isn’t as strong as he once was,” Long Tian continued. “And is this young master even capable of leading the Dragon King Palace now?”
Yang Shen didn’t respond, lowering his head as Long Tian’s aura influenced him further. Slowly, he began to question his loyalty.
Was it really wrong to seek a better future for the palace?
“We’re not rebelling,” Long Tian added, patting Yang Shen’s shoulder, “we’re just trying to guide the Dragon King Palace to a brighter future!”
When Yang Shen lifted his head, his eyes were filled with a new resolve.
“That’s right! We’re not villains; we’re simply looking out for the future of the Dragon King Palace!” His tone grew firmer as he spoke, while Long Tian watched with satisfaction. His plan had worked perfectly.
“Master, with all the techniques you’ve collected, you could reach great heights. I’ll help you secure the Dragon King position!”
Yang Shen’s strength was lacking, but with the various forbidden techniques he had collected, rapid improvement was possible. He had always avoided these darker paths, but now he saw them as tools for a greater purpose.
“…Yes.” Yang Shen agreed.
Long Tian’s smile grew wider.
‘Helping you take the Dragon King’s position? Of course, I’ll help you… until I can take it for myself.’ He thought.
Despite Yang Shen’s kindness, Long Tian saw it as only natural to look out for himself. After all, it was his destiny to claim everything.
Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun knew nothing of this power struggle. He had deliberately let Long Tian learn about the Dragon King Palace to accelerate the plot. However, even he hadn’t anticipated how “successful” Long Tian would be. Nevertheless, this was precisely the kind of drama Ye Liuyun wanted to see unfold.
Soon, the day of the Yin family matriarch’s birthday arrived. Ye Liuyun had planned to attend alone, but then—
“Ye Liuyun!”
Startled, he turned to see Yao Huaimeng, who looked slightly embarrassed. For some reason, even in front of him, she found it hard to be as bold as she wanted to be.
“We’re going the same way. Why don’t we go together?”
[The same way?]
Ye Liuyun thought, a little amused.
Yao Huaimeng lowered her head, clearly uncomfortable. To reach the Yin family estate, she’d made her way to Ye Liuyun first. There was no other route to take.
“Well, alright then,” he said, laughing a little. He didn’t mind; it was more entertaining to have someone along. He climbed into the passenger seat of her car, letting her take the wheel.
“If a woman’s driving, I’d better be on alert!” He teased with a grin.
“What are you talking about!” Yao Huaimeng huffed, though she seemed pleased. She rolled her eyes at him but then said confidently, “I’m a great driver!”
The joke helped her relax, and with a proud smile, she started the car. When they arrived, the Yin family estate was already bustling with activity. As one of the wealthiest families in Hai city, they naturally attracted many guests, despite the controversy surrounding their decision to bring in a son-in-law.
“Brother Ye!”
A familiar voice called out, and Ye Liuyun turned to see Zhou Kaifeng approaching.
Of course, it was no surprise to see him here. Zhou Kaifeng’s face lit up upon seeing Ye Liuyun, whom he greatly admired.
“Brother Ye, you haven’t visited in ages! I thought you’d forgotten about me!”
“Hahaha! Just too busy! Too busy!” Ye Liuyun chuckled.
[Tsk! That part of the plot is over, so why would I visit you?]
