Chapter 1: Transmigrating into a Book as the Villain

Li Corporation!

Li Qingxue said, “Su Bai, you’re fired. Leave the company immediately. From now on, you’re no longer part of this company. Also, I demand you break off our engagement right away! I, Li Qingxue, will never marry you. Don’t even dream about it in this lifetime. You toad, stop thinking you can eat swan meat. Our Li family is no longer what it used to be—you’re unworthy of us! After we annul this engagement, we’ll go our separate ways. Don’t bother pestering me, and I absolutely won’t bother with you.”

Inside the luxurious hall, she spoke those ruthless words in front of all the company employees, clearly drawing a line between them.

She was the only daughter of CEO Li Liming, the eldest young lady of the Li family. A year ago, the Li family had still been a fallen household, but in just a year, they had suddenly risen, becoming Jiang City’s new nobility. Not only had they established Li Corporation, but their assets had also soared to 1 billion yuan, leaving many envious to the point of turning pale with jealousy.

The employees could only look at her with admiration, not daring to meet her eyes. Li Qingxue, dressed in a black professional suit with a tight short skirt, revealed her long legs. She stood at 1.7 meters, her figure slender and elegant. Her pretty face, however, carried disdain and coldness as she looked at the person before her.

Opposite her stood a handsome young man, about 1.8 meters tall, around twenty-four or twenty-five years old. This was Su Bai, the man she had just fired—and also her fiancé.

Su Bai stood there with a slightly dazed expression. In front of everyone, Li Qingxue not only dismissed him from the company but also insisted on breaking off the engagement.

The staff gathered in the corner, all glancing toward him. Seeing his blank look, Li Qingxue frowned even deeper. The more she looked at him, the more disgusted she felt. She didn’t even want to endure being engaged to him for a single day longer.

But what she didn’t know was that Su Bai’s daze wasn’t because of her words, nor because of the annulment itself. It was because… he still hadn’t processed what was happening.

Where was he? He clearly remembered reading a modern urban novel, and then, in the blink of an eye, he appeared here, with this woman standing before him talking about breaking off their engagement. Fired and dumped on the spot—yet he had never even seen this woman before.

Wait! Breaking off an engagement? Wasn’t this the plotline from the novel he had just been reading?

He suddenly realized—the woman in front of him was Li Qingxue, the second female lead of the book! Looking closely, her beauty perfectly matched the description. And now, she was breaking off their engagement?

So this was the beginning of the novel’s plotline? Had he actually transmigrated into the story… and even become the villain Su Bai?

This was too sudden. Just moments ago, while reading the novel, he had been mocking the villain’s name for being the same as his. Now he had actually become that villain?

This novel was poisonous! You want me to die? Why don’t you just say so directly?

Su Bai’s memory was sharp. He recalled everything about this novel, which he had nearly finished reading. The villain Su Bai, though heir to a top family, had hidden his identity, lowering himself to Jiang City, willing to be a pitiful lapdog for this woman.

A lapdog! A lapdog! And in the end, he was left with nothing!

That phrase perfectly summed up the villain’s life. In the final outcome, not only did he destroy himself, but he also ruined the entire Su family, paving the way for the protagonist and this woman to thrive.

Su Bai looked at Li Qingxue. How could he ever degrade himself to be her lapdog? Her beauty was decent, sure, but hardly unique. On the streets, there were plenty of women just as attractive. Why would he grovel for her?

Am I insane? No—it was the novel’s Su Bai who was insane. Now that I’ve taken his place, am I supposed to follow his path and keep licking her boots? And yet, I can’t even if I wanted to, because she’s already firing me and breaking off the engagement.

He knew why. The protagonist had descended the mountain and arrived at the Li family. Patriarch Li Liming immediately saw potential in him, believing the protagonist would lead their family to greater heights, perhaps even make them a top family. Naturally, he chose to support him wholeheartedly.

Li Qingxue also fell for the protagonist, so she wanted to sever ties with her so-called lapdog Su Bai.

Originally, she had agreed to the marriage because Su Bai had helped the Li family immensely. In fact, their rise over the past year was thanks to him. But now, they wanted to kick him aside after crossing the bridge, aiming for someone with greater potential.

Li Liming let his daughter handle it since she despised Su Bai anyway. Once Su Bai was dismissed, the protagonist could take his place. The Li family’s future would only grow brighter, soaring alongside him.

Indeed, in the novel, the Li family rose to a top-tier household with the protagonist’s backing, while the Su family was crushed, falling into ruin. Su Bai’s grandfather, parents, and aunts all fell into despair. And Su Bai himself—his hands and feet were cut off by the protagonist, leaving him crippled for life.

Now, seeing Su Bai expressionless and unresponsive, Li Qingxue grew more irritated. She said, “Su Bai, what are you thinking? I’m talking to you, are you even listening?”

Her temper flared. As the Li family’s young lady, her words were always obeyed. Especially Su Bai, who never dared oppose her. If she told him to jump off a building, he would probably jump.

But that kind of man disgusted her. She didn’t want a lapdog; she wanted that man—the protagonist! Since he was about to join the company, Su Bai had to go. She didn’t want him around, and she certainly didn’t want to be burdened with the title of his fiancée. She wanted to marry the protagonist with a clean slate.

Thinking this, her anger rose again at Su Bai’s silence. “I’ve made it clear—we are impossible. You’re like a dog, shamelessly lingering here in the company. What’s the point?”

Even if Su Bai refused to end the engagement, she would find a way. And if she couldn’t, that man definitely could.

Li Qingxue glared at him and said, “I hope you can be sensible. Otherwise, I’ll call security. You don’t want to be thrown out, do you? Either way, our relationship ends here. The engagement is annulled!”

Finally, Su Bai, who had been silent all along, nodded and said, “Alright!”

Li Qingxue was stunned. “Don’t be like this. I already said it’s impossible. Wait… what did you just say?”

Su Bai looked at her calmly. “The conditions you demanded—I agree to them all.”

Of course I agree. How could I possibly be your lapdog?
