Chapter 3: Give the Seat to the Protagonist!

“Su Ling, is that what you think too?” the homeroom teacher immediately asked.

“Ah, I…” Su Ling was momentarily flustered. Though she did have some resistance toward Chen Tianyou, this Rich Second-Generation Heir, she couldn’t say it outright like that! Wouldn’t that clearly show everyone she disliked classmates with poor grades?

Besides, she was the class monitor. She should be leading by example and setting a good standard for everyone. She definitely shouldn’t be discriminating against other students just because of grades. If she really agreed, how would others see her?

Thinking of this, Su Ling hurriedly shook her head and said, “Teacher, I don’t think that way. I don’t know what kind of trick Chen Tianyou is playing again.” After saying that, she turned and glared at Chen Tianyou. “Chen Tianyou, stop messing around. Since we’re deskmates, I won’t look down on you just because your grades are bad. You better stop playing these games all the time!”

Chen Tianyou was completely stunned. Wait a minute, I was kindly trying to make room for you and your protagonist, and that’s still not okay? I did this for your own good! And weren’t you supposed to dislike the villain deep down? What’s going on today?

No way, I have to stay far away from Su Ling, this troublemaker! She’s the main female lead for the protagonist in the early stages, and all the plotlines revolve around her. If this continues, I’m really going to get torn apart by the protagonist’s dogs!

Chen Tianyou glared at Su Ling with resentment as his mind raced.

Got it!

Chen Tianyou turned to look at Lin Mo on stage. Now, only the protagonist stepping in could fix this.

“Lin Mo, you just transferred to our class. Why not sit with our class monitor? She’s a top student. She’ll definitely be able to help you improve!”

According to the original plotline, Chen Tianyou would later be tricked by Lin Mo, break his leg, end up in the hospital, and Lin Mo would naturally become deskmates with the campus belle Su Ling.

But since he already knew the plotline now, there was no need to break his leg.

Lin Mo froze in place. What was going on?

According to the original plot, wasn’t this Chen Tianyou supposed to shamelessly insist on sitting with Su Ling? Why was he suddenly offering to give up the seat?

After a brief moment of thought, Lin Mo immediately understood. This guy must be pulling the old trick of playing hard to get—pretending to give up on the campus belle to make her feel uncomfortable and grab her attention!

Well played, Chen Tianyou!

Who would’ve thought that after being reborn, this brainless villain actually started developing.

He was even using advanced tactics now!

Fine, this makes things even more interesting.

A faint smirk curled at Lin Mo’s lips. He definitely wouldn’t fall for this. If he agreed to sit with Su Ling, his whole persona would collapse instantly.

After all, his current persona at school was that of someone who had chased Cheng Yao for years, then gave up in despair. Right now, he was supposed to be brooding and melancholic. That was exactly what had drawn Su Ling’s attention.

Besides, if he sat with Su Ling from the start, how would Chen Tianyou bully her? And how would he heroically save the beauty and win her heart?

With that in mind, Lin Mo lowered his head and spoke in a slightly despondent tone, “No need. I’ll sit in the back. You have poor grades, so you need Su Ling’s help more.”

What the hell, bro?

Chen Tianyou was completely confused now.

Su Ling rejecting him was one thing, but even Lin Mo was turning him down?

Was he really destined to suffer humiliation between the two of them?

After all, every emotional plotline between the protagonist and the female lead needed a villain to constantly act like a fool in order to move the plot forward.

Chen Tianyou felt hopeless. But he still wanted to resist a bit more. He really didn’t want to be torn apart by dogs!

“Lin Mo, don’t be like this. You two are top students—sitting together helps with studying. I’ll just sit in the back!”

“No thanks. I don’t want to sit there.”

“But I don’t want to sit here either. Please, I’m begging you.”

“…”

The two of them started going back and forth.

Su Ling’s expression visibly darkened. Her hands clenched tightly.

The more she listened to their conversation, the angrier she became. How did she suddenly become the one being disliked?

Was it really so bad to sit next to her?

Finally, Su Ling couldn’t take it anymore. She slammed the table and stared at Chen Tianyou. “Chen Tianyou! Are you done yet? Shut up right now!”

Chen Tianyou was startled by her outburst and immediately stopped arguing with Lin Mo, turning to look at her.

Su Ling’s cheeks were slightly flushed, as if she were suppressing her anger. Her usually gentle voice had turned cold and stern.

Her hands were clenched so tightly that her fingertips turned white, clearly trying hard to control her emotions.

Chen Tianyou grew nervous.

It’s over!

He had just transmigrated and already offended the female lead Su Ling. He was one step closer to his doom.

He cautiously looked at Lin Mo.

As expected, Lin Mo’s eyes were filled with coldness.

He was done for!

Seeing that the atmosphere was turning sour, the homeroom teacher quickly stepped in.

“Chen Tianyou, sit down at once. Stop causing trouble!”

Then he looked at Lin Mo again. “Lin Mo, just sit in the back.”

Finally, the seat drama came to a temporary end.

As Lin Mo walked past Chen Tianyou with his bag, he deliberately glanced at him. Seeing Chen Tianyou’s gloomy face, the corner of his lips lifted slightly.

Trying to compete with me, the protagonist? You’re still not quite there yet! Lin Mo thought to himself.

“Um… sorry, class monitor. I didn’t mean anything by it. I just didn’t want to affect your studies…” Chen Tianyou saw that Su Ling was angry and tried to explain.

But Su Ling clearly didn’t want to talk to him. She turned her head away and kept her eyes on her book.

Sigh…

Chen Tianyou sighed inwardly.

Forget it. From now on, I’ll just try to avoid Su Ling. This was just a small incident. Lin Mo shouldn’t develop killing intent toward me just because of this, right?

Chen Tianyou didn’t bother Su Ling any further. He quietly moved his chair outward bit by bit and even nudged the books on the desk farther away.

Yes, keep a safe distance from the female lead! That way, Lin Mo won’t get jealous!

“Chen Tianyou, what are you doing now?” Su Ling had just wanted to quietly read for a bit and calm herself down, but then she heard the creaking of a chair being dragged.

Originally, their desks had been pushed together, but now Chen Tianyou had moved his desk a few centimeters away, as if trying to draw a clear line between them.

Seeing Su Ling glance over, Chen Tianyou quickly moved a little farther and nodded to her with respectful distance.

His subtle movements didn’t escape Su Ling’s eyes. Chen Tianyou’s expression and actions didn’t look fake—they seemed to come from the heart, like he genuinely wanted to stay away from her!

“You…” Seeing this, Su Ling felt a wave of grievance.

No one had ever treated her like this before.

Was she really that unbearable?
