Chapter 19: Mo Meigui’s Dilemma

The bright white lights of the police station lobby were almost harsh, the air tinged with disinfectant and faint tobacco smoke.

Gu Siqing’s cool gaze swept over Su Wanying, her voice calm yet edged with a barely noticeable sharpness. “Miss Su, shouldn’t you be at home? What brings you to a place like this?”

Leaning lazily against the wall, Su Wanying twirled a strand of wavy hair between her fingers, her red lips curving in a seductive arc. “Naturally, I’m here to take my little man home.”

Her eyes ran over Gu Siqing, lingering briefly on her chest before she chuckled. “Unlike some people, all plain and flat—probably don’t even know how to take care of a man. Little Qin Qin is hurt badly, you know. Glaring at people won’t heal him.”

Gu Siqing’s expression darkened, but her tone remained steady as she shot back without hesitation. “At least I’m not like some people—nothing but extra meat and an empty head, only capable of cheap tricks. Taking care of someone is about heart, not excess fat.”

Su Wanying’s smile faltered for a second before she burst into a laugh. “Oh my, is CEO Gu getting flustered? This is called voluptuous, dear. Men love it. Not like certain ‘airports’—hugging them hurts the hands.”

The tension between the two women thickened until it was nearly ready to explode into a full-on fight right there in the lobby.

Qin Xiao could feel the vein in his temple throbbing. His wounds still ached, and now he was stuck in this invisible gunpowder haze—salt in the wound.

“Alright, enough!” He forced himself to speak, cutting through their verbal sparring. “Stop arguing.”

He looked at both of them with a helpless sigh. “I’m injured, can’t you take pity on me? How about this—both of you come back with me. The villa’s got a hungry glutton waiting, and dinner isn’t sorted yet. I’ll need your help to make something.”

Gu Siqing and Su Wanying locked eyes, each seeing the other’s unwillingness. But in the end, both nodded.

On the way back, Qin Xiao was wedged in the back seat of a long luxury car, a beauty on each side.

Su Wanying leaned close, her body curving seductively toward him, brushing her full chest against his arm as she batted her lashes.

Gu Siqing maintained her ice-queen demeanor, eyes forward, an aura warning strangers to keep away. Yet, from time to time, she stole glances at him from the corner of her eye, her pale hand resting lightly by his leg, occasionally brushing against him.

The stark contrast in sensations left Qin Xiao both amused and exasperated—pure ice and smoldering fire.

A quick glance at the driver revealed him to be the picture of professionalism—eyes forward, ignoring the undercurrent in the back.

“Yun Yiyi, do you have any system that can make them quiet for a bit? I just want some peace.”

Yun Yiyi’s voice piped up in his mind, innocent and cheerful. [Ah, no such thing, Host! But look, I changed my skin—cute, right?]

Qin Xiao’s mouth twitched, “Cute, cute, you’re the cutest. Now can you let me have some quiet?”

[…Alright… Good luck, Host!]

Abandoning hope for help from his unreliable system, Qin Xiao sighed, closed his eyes, and tried to block out the “noise” on both sides.

That was when he felt Gu Siqing’s fingers move slightly at his side, brushing the palm of his hand as if by accident. The tingling shot through his whole body, making his eyes snap open—only to meet hers, cool yet with a hint of shyness.

Seeing this, Su Wanying chuckled and pressed even closer, her entire arm pressing against him, her touch bold and direct.

Qin Xiao felt like he was being roasted alive, heat flooding through him until he could hardly sit still. He prayed silently for the villa to appear soon.

Finally, the car pulled into the villa community and stopped at his residence.

He practically leapt out as if pardoned, with both women following close, each taking an arm in a show of intimacy that made their earlier hostility in the station seem like a different reality.

The villa door opened to reveal Mo Meigui, standing straight in the entryway as always.

Today she wore a simple maid’s uniform, the cream-colored apron accentuating her tall figure, softening her usual coolness into something gentler.

Seeing Qin Xiao, she bent slightly in greeting, her voice clear. “Young Master, you’re back.”

Lifting her head, she noticed Gu Siqing and Su Wanying beside him. She paused for just a second before saying flatly, “Another woman.”

Qin Xiao nearly choked on her bluntness, coughing twice before explaining. “Mo Meigui, this is Miss Gu and Miss Su. They’re… guests.”

Turning to Su Wanying, he smiled. “Sister Wanying, this is Mo Meigui, my maid and housekeeper. She looks after my daily life and safety.”

Su Wanying’s eyes curved in interest. “Maid and housekeeper? Little Qin Qin, you do know how to enjoy life.”

Gu Siqing studied Mo Meigui closely, her gaze sharp, as though trying to pierce through her.

Mo Meigui ignored the scrutiny, performing her duties as she took Qin Xiao’s coat and spoke softly. “Young Master, dinner is ready, all your favorite dishes.”

Qin Xiao gave her a grateful smile, about to reply when his stomach rumbled loudly. “Heh… Mo Meigui, maybe delay dinner. I’m not that hungry after today’s… incident. Also—” He gestured toward Gu Siqing and Su Wanying. “I can’t cook for you tonight. I’ve taught them how to make seafood—why don’t you all eat together?”

For a moment, a flicker of worry passed through Mo Meigui’s eyes before it disappeared. “As you wish, Young Master.” She stepped aside, her tone warm. “You’re injured. Rest upstairs.”

Her consideration warmed him, and he patted her shoulder gently. “Thank you, Mo Meigui.”

Her body stiffened briefly before she eased again, though her ears seemed faintly red.

Her brows knit as she looked at his injuries. “Who hurt you, Young Master? Do you need me to do something about it?”

He didn’t want her worried or to know about his feud with the Dragon King Hall, so he answered vaguely, “Just a clumsy security guard. A scratch. Don’t worry.”

She seemed doubtful but let it go, quietly noting the word “security guard.”

With a beauty on each side, Qin Xiao was guided upstairs, the mixed scents of their perfume filling his nose, their soft touches a reminder of the ice and fire torment.

He glanced back toward where Mo Meigui had gone, a faint guilt stirring in him.

Just then, a shrill ringtone broke the villa’s quiet. It came from Mo Meigui’s room.

Her steps faltered at the sound, but without pausing, she continued toward the kitchen—until her figure vanished around the corner.

Qin Xiao frowned slightly. The ringtone felt… off. But flanked by the two women, he had no chance to check, pushing the thought aside for now.

In truth, Mo Meigui never entered the kitchen.

She slipped silently into her bedroom, closed the door, and went straight to the bed, pulling an old black phone from beneath her pillow.

On the screen, a name flashed: “No.1.”

Her eyes sharpened instantly, her soft demeanor vanishing, replaced by a cold, lethal air—like a drawn sword ready to strike.

She took a deep breath and answered, her voice low and with the faintest tremor. “Young Master.”

On the other end, a deep, magnetic male voice spoke with commanding authority. “Mo Meigui, are you with Qin Xiao now? How are the preparations?”

It was the Young Master of the Dragon King Hall—Ye Chen.

Mo Meigui’s true identity was now revealed—she was Mei Xinya, the Dragon King Hall’s top assassin, planted at Qin Xiao’s side.

Ye Chen lay in a special ward at the Imperial Capital’s military hospital, pale and weak but with eyes still cold and vicious. Injured and humiliated earlier, his dantian damaged, his pride burned for revenge.

“Young Master, I’ve arrived in the capital and am in position,” Mo Meigui reported evenly.

“Good.” His tone carried satisfaction, but quickly turned icy. “Qin Xiao dared to trick me—unforgivable! I order you to eliminate him at all costs. Let him know the price of offending the Dragon King Hall!”

Her heart sank, coldness flooding her limbs. Her fingers clenched the phone so hard her knuckles whitened. After a pause, she said hesitantly, “Young Master, Qin Xiao… may not be as simple as he appears.”

His tone hardened, irritated. “I don’t want excuses. I want results. Don’t forget who you are! The Dragon King Hall raised you for years, not to hear you stall. One more failure, and I’ll forget all past ties.”

Her breathing grew tight—she knew he meant it.

“Please… give me more time,” she said at last. “I have a plan. Perhaps I can control Qin Xiao, make him work for us. Not only will that remove him as a threat, but we can use him. Isn’t that better?”

Ye Chen’s tone eased slightly, intrigued. “Control him? Can you do it?”

A complex light flickered in her eyes as Qin Xiao’s faint smile and quiet care came to mind. She forced her voice steady. “Trust me, Young Master. Given time, I can have him in the palm of my hand. Whether we kill him or keep him, it will be our choice.”

There was a pause, then Ye Chen chuckled coldly. “Mo Meigui, you never disappoint. I’ll give you this chance.”

The line went dead, leaving the busy tone in her ear.

She gripped the phone tightly, her face a storm of conflict. “Control him… for my use…” she murmured, her voice carrying an uncertainty she didn’t recognize.

Could she really do it?

Could she truly harm the man who always greeted her with warmth, cared for her, and even cooked for her?

Her heart was in disarray—chaos like never before.
