I Was Supposed to Simp for the Female Lead for Three Years to Earn an Armory, but She Took It Seriously - Chapter 10:
Chapter 10: Dumbfounded
The Grand General of the Empire was speechless.
Madam Zhou’s eyes were already filled with tears from Zhou Cheng’s passionate words. Second Sister turned her head away, her eyes red with emotion.
Zhou Cheng knew his family wouldn’t believe him. After all, how could anyone from this era imagine the things stored in a modern Material Mall?
“Hahaha, you don’t believe me? Fine! Then watch closely!”
Whoosh—
Zhou Cheng silently activated his Portable Space and retrieved a basic hand grenade.
In the next second, a small black iron lump appeared in his sleeve pocket.
Then, he took it out, pulled the pin, and hurled it with all his strength toward the opposite mountain peak!
Boom!
The grenade hit the ground!
BOOM!!!
BOOM RUMBLE RUMBLE!!!
In an instant, the sky shook and the earth quaked. Flames erupted, and the entire world seemed drowned in a roaring, thunderous blast…
The three Zhou family members, unprepared, were struck by the shockwave. Their eardrums throbbed with pain.
The ground trembled. Second Sister lost her footing and collapsed, dazed and blank-eyed, staring dead ahead at the mountain.
Right in front of her eyes!
In front of the Grand General and Madam Zhou!
The summit of the mountain had been blasted flat, leaving behind a massive crater several meters wide.
Flowers, grass, trees, all vegetation had been obliterated—only scorched earth and ruin remained.
Thump-thump-thump—
The Grand General’s heart pounded wildly. His lips trembled uncontrollably as he looked from the demolished mountain to his son, who stood tall and confident.
His eyes reddened. He opened his mouth, unsure of what to even ask, “Cheng’er… this, this, this!!!”
“Am I dreaming?!”
“I just saw you… and then, within fifteen zhang of the mountain, everything was scorched and blasted to ash. If people had been standing there, they’d have been blown to pieces!”
Suddenly, he remembered the words Zhou Cheng had said earlier with such conviction.
I possess something that can move mountains, level seas, and intimidate entire armies. Father—do you believe me?!
He believed!
“I believe!” the Grand General said, almost shouting.
“Father, did you see it? Can this weapon intimidate an army of thousands? Can it change the fate of our Zhou family? Can it allow 300,000 soldiers to stand against 500,000?” Zhou Cheng stood atop the slope, behind him the smoldering remains of the mountain, and before him the stunned Zhou family.
This scene stirred the blood of all three.
Madam Zhou was shaken to the core, overwhelmed with both pride and disbelief.
Second Sister stared at Zhou Cheng in stunned excitement. For the first time, she truly believed—her younger brother had grown up.
The Grand General’s eyes shimmered as he nodded emotionally. “It can.”
“If we had thousands, tens of thousands of such weapons, then I’d have no more worries. What’s 500,000 troops to fear? But Cheng’er… these things…”
Zhou Cheng gave a firm answer. “Father, as long as you believe in me, not just thousands or tens of thousands—if you give me a little time, I can produce a hundred thousand!”
“And I don’t only have this. I have other weapons with even greater power.”
As he finished speaking, Zhou Cheng returned to the carriage, pulled out the handgun he’d stored in his space earlier, and under the intense gazes of the three, held it in his hand and aimed at a large rock over 100 meters away.
With swift, precise motions, he fired several shots.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets tore through the air at hundreds of meters per second, punching through the stone and splitting it clean in two!
That level of penetrative force was dozens of times stronger than any bow or crossbow!
“Hiss—”
“Hiss—”
Both Madam Zhou and Second Sister gasped sharply.
“Good! Good! GOOD!!” the Grand General stared at the shattered boulder, eyes red, repeating the word three times with trembling passion.
He had no idea what these powerful weapons were, nor where his son had obtained them—but so what? The Grand General’s faith and love for his son bordered on blind devotion.
Just last night, the three of them had prepared themselves to die unjustly on the execution platform.
Prepared to be the sacrificial pawns of the Emperor’s scheme, to be exterminated, clan and all.
But they never expected—
That at this critical moment, the one son they always thought unreliable, obsessed only with pleasing Lin Jiaoyun, would reveal a trump card powerful enough to defy fate!
“Husband,” Madam Zhou was nearly speechless, her heart brimming with joy at this miraculous turn, “when you enter the palace today, the Zhou family must not surrender its command!”
“With what Cheng’er holds in his hands, what is there to fear from 500,000 soldiers?!”
The Grand General nodded, deeply moved. But soon, he calmed down and a hint of worry returned to his face.
“Father,” Zhou Cheng immediately saw his father’s worry and knew what he was thinking. “If the issue is numbers, then let me show you the food supply!”
After saying that, Zhou Cheng closed his eyes and entered the Material Mall.
He navigated to the Daily Necessities section.
He selected compressed biscuits and food.
In the next second, he locked onto his target:
[Polar Expedition Compressed Biscuits: 1 point per box. Each box contains 100 small packs. One pack = 250 grams of compressed rations. One adult can survive on one pack per day.]
In times of extreme food shortage, one box could feed nearly 100 people for a day!
One point!
What did that mean?
Zhou Cheng currently had over 40,000 points. If converted entirely into these rations, it could feed 300,000 soldiers for half a month!
“Redeem one box.”
[Ding!]
[Redemption successful. 1 point deducted. Remaining points: 40,912.]
As the three Zhou family members waited in nervous silence, not daring to interrupt, Zhou Cheng opened his eyes and looked at the man who loved him more than life itself.
He thought—
His entire family had given up their only chance of escape just for him. With that kind of love, at such a crucial moment, what was there to hide?
“Father, hold out your hand. I’ll show you something.”
The Grand General asked no questions and extended his hand immediately.
In an instant—
A box of compressed biscuits appeared out of thin air in his palms, so heavy it almost slipped out of his grasp.
The air turned still.
Madam Zhou’s pupils contracted violently.
Second Sister covered her mouth in shock.
Even the Grand General’s facial muscles twitched in disbelief!
Before they could even ask anything, Zhou Cheng looked them all in the eyes and said seriously and sincerely, “Father, Mother, I told you before that I pursued Lin Jiaoyun for a reason. You didn’t believe me.”
“Now you’ve seen it. This is the reason.”
“Three years ago, when the Emperor summoned the Zhou family back to the capital, we were ambushed by assassins en route. I fell and hit my head, remained unconscious for three months. During those months, I dreamt of a mysterious figure every single night.”
“He told me that if I gave my heart to Lin Jiaoyun for three years, I would be granted a treasure capable of changing the Zhou family’s fate.”
“These compressed biscuits, enough to feed 300,000 troops, are just one of the gifts.”
