Joining the Sect, I Raised Geniuses Through Dual Cultivation - Chapter 5:
Chapter 5:
“Just a disciple?” Liu Ruyan snorted coldly. “In your eyes, do the lives of sect disciples mean so little?”
“I didn’t mean it like that…” Jiang Yuyan’s expression shifted dramatically as she quickly denied it.
If those words spread, it would surely chill the hearts of the disciples. Who would still be willing to follow a vice sect master who might discard them at any moment?
She originally just wanted to see Liu Ruyan make a fool of herself and give her a hard blow. Instead, the situation had reversed on her.
The several Supreme Elders also calmed down and turned their eyes toward Liu Ruyan.
“I heard this Ye Chen is just a Yellow-grade spiritual Root disciple. Why is the sect master so invested in him?” one of the elders asked.
To him, Liu Ruyan seemed to be paying unusually close attention to this Ye Chen.
Upholding the sect’s dignity was important, but offending the powerful Heavenly Mystic Holy Land over this seemed unwise.
If the sect were destroyed because of it, it would not be worth the cost.
In the elders’ minds, a disciple with a Yellow-grade spiritual Root wasn’t worth risking the future of the Blissful Sect.
Liu Ruyan glanced at the elders in front of her, then said seriously, “The sect has long been in decline, surrounded by external threats, teetering on the edge of collapse.”
“If at such a time we chill the hearts of our disciples, who would still be willing to fight for the sect?”
“Doing so would only push the Blissful Sect into an abyss of no return.”
The elders fell silent.
Liu Ruyan’s words indeed held some truth.
One disciple with a Yellow-grade spiritual Root was nothing. But if a hundred, a thousand disciples left, the sect would collapse like a snowball rolling downhill.
“But if we offend the Heavenly Mystic Holy Land, the Blissful Sect will also be destroyed,” Jiang Yuyan said with a darkened expression. “We might as well secretly hand him over. As long as no one finds out, it won’t be a problem.”
She feared offending the Heavenly Mystic Holy Land and bringing destruction upon the sect.
If that happened, she, too, would die.
She didn’t want to die!
The elders looked troubled. Whether they handed him over or not, both choices seemed disastrous for the sect.
Liu Ruyan could see their hesitation. After pondering for a moment, she looked at the calmest of the elders and said, “Grand Elder, may I speak with you in private?”
“Very well,” the Grand Elder replied with a nod, eyeing her with slight confusion.
He was also struggling with the dilemma and wanted to hear what Liu Ruyan had to say.
“This way, Grand Elder.”
Liu Ruyan led him toward the side hall, leaving Jiang Yuyan and the other elders behind.
“What’s she plotting now?”
Jiang Yuyan’s face was gloomy as she stared at the two heading into the side hall, clearly annoyed.
What could be said that she, the vice sect master, wasn’t allowed to hear?
She also feared something unexpected might happen.
After all, she had intended to use this opportunity to suppress Liu Ruyan’s authority and eventually take her place.
Inside the side hall…
Liu Ruyan cautiously set up a soundproof barrier.
The Grand Elder frowned in confusion. “Sect master, what is it you wish to say?”
He sensed this wasn’t a simple matter. Otherwise, Liu Ruyan wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of setting up a barrier.
Liu Ruyan looked at him seriously. “Grand Elder, what I’m about to tell you concerns the rise and fall of the Blissful Sect. I ask that you keep it absolutely secret and tell no one.”
The Grand Elder hesitated, then nodded. “Very well, I promise.”
His curiosity only deepened. What was Liu Ruyan planning to say that was so secretive and important to the sect’s survival?
Seeing his agreement, Liu Ruyan no longer held back and revealed every detail about Ye Chen’s secret talent.
She hadn’t planned to let anyone know this secret, but now, to resist the pressure from the Heavenly Mystic Holy Land, she had no choice but to tell the sect’s top elder in exchange for his support.
Only then could she protect this “talent,” Ye Chen.
But she would never allow Jiang Yuyan or the others to know.
“What did you say?”
“Offspring with spiritual Roots?”
The Grand Elder’s breathing grew ragged, his eyes blazing as he stared at Liu Ruyan.
He understood exactly what this meant!
Even a Yellow-grade spiritual Root was one in a hundred among mortals. Higher-tier roots were even rarer.
If they could continuously produce “new disciples” with spiritual Roots, it would ensure that the Blissful Sect would never decline.
Should a disciple with extraordinary aptitude emerge, the entire sect could be transformed and might even return to its former glory, becoming one of the holy lands of the Southern Desolate Province once more.
“This disciple named Ye Chen… can his words be trusted?”
The Grand Elder gradually calmed down, still harboring doubts.
This kind of talent sounded far too unbelievable.
“I believe him,” Liu Ruyan said firmly.
She had no more retreat—she could only put her faith in Ye Chen.
At the same time, she handed over the intelligence report.
The Grand Elder took it with curiosity, glanced at it, and instantly widened his eyes, gasping in disbelief.
“This… this is real?”
“One night of dual cultivation and they broke through a minor realm?”
“This is… simply unbelievable!”
He could hardly believe it, but he also knew Liu Ruyan would never lie to him about something like this.
On one side was the Heavenly Mystic Holy Land’s pressure.
On the other, the hope of restoring the sect to greatness…
The Grand Elder frowned with hesitation, but soon made up his mind.
“The Heavenly Mystic Holy Land may be strong, but we old bones aren’t dead yet. We can still stand tall!”
“If worst comes to worst, we fight to the death!”
He chose to believe in Ye Chen!
No one could resist the temptation of restoring the sect to its peak, especially a Supreme Elder who had witnessed that former glory.
The Blissful Sect may have declined, its middle ranks weak, but a few top-tier elders were still alive.
As long as they showed a willingness to fight to the end, even the Heavenly Mystic Holy Land would be cautious.
Though the holy land was powerful and filled with mighty cultivators, no one would want to sacrifice several top experts just to kill a Qi Refining Realm disciple.
“Thank you, Grand Elder!” Liu Ruyan finally let out a breath of relief.
With his support, Jiang Yuyan’s opposition would be meaningless.
And through this, she might even gain the support of the other Supreme Elders too—killing two birds with one stone.
“No need to thank me.”
“Let’s just hope this Ye Chen wasn’t lying. If he is, I’ll make sure his soul is scattered!” the Grand Elder said coldly, a sharp gleam flashing in his aged eyes.
“Don’t worry, Grand Elder! I will send another female disciple to test it!” Liu Ruyan responded at once.
She already had a plan.
Once could be a coincidence. Twice, still a coincidence. But if a third female disciple broke through after dual cultivation, then it could no longer be chalked up to chance.
“Very well. I’ll be waiting for your news,” the Grand Elder said with a nod, agreeing to the arrangement.
The two reached an immediate agreement.
