Chapter 20: Lu Ning Disappeared

Slap! The force of the slap made Lu Ning’s palm go numb. She stared in astonishment at Ji Chiqian, who suddenly appeared tall and imposing. She never expected him to grab her hand and use it to slap Sixth Brother.

The scene fell into dead silence.

Qin Xiang felt a brief moment of satisfaction seeing Lu Liu get slapped. Now, Lu Liu would definitely never forgive Lu Ning.

Lu Liu’s eyes turned red, his voice filled with disbelief. “Lu Ning! You actually dared to hit me?”

Lu Ning grew angry. “He’s not abducting me. I’m the one who wants to leave.”

She didn’t want to stay in the suffocating Lu family any longer.

Lu Nanfeng looked at her. “Ning Ning, I know you’re going through a rebellious phase. No matter what I say now, you won’t listen. But you’ll understand one day that I’m doing this for your own good.”

Ji Chiqian chuckled coldly. “For Lu Ning’s good? So every time something happens, she has to compromise and give in? Every time, she has to be the one to suffer, get beaten, and still be expected to be understanding? If this is your so-called ‘good,’ why don’t you try it yourselves?”

Lu Nanfeng was left speechless. Only now did he realize how much he’d neglected Lu Ning, thinking she was always obedient and silent, assuming she didn’t mind. But she had remembered everything.

As her brother, he had failed miserably.

At that moment, the police and a lawyer arrived at the scene.

The lawyer spoke first. “I am Miss Lu Ning’s lawyer. Due to her family’s repeated acts of violence, we have submitted the evidence. Now, she will be escorted by the police to a place where she feels safe.”

Lu Ning was stunned. She hadn’t hired a lawyer. Could it have been Ji Chiqian who arranged this?

Lu Liu was furious. “What do you mean? We’re her guardians! What right do you have to do this?”

Lu Liu was so shocked he couldn’t say a word. His anger mixed with guilt.

Lu Nanfeng was utterly defeated. Only now did he truly realize he might be losing his sister.
