Chapter 15: Host, It’s Daytime Right Now

Seeing Wang Meina’s expression, Jiang Ning didn’t bother responding and continued walking forward.

“Hey! Hey, you brat! Are you deaf? If you don’t answer me, don’t blame me if I call someone to beat you up!” Wang Meina threatened.

Upon hearing that, Jiang Ning stopped in his tracks and turned around, glaring at her with a fierce expression like a lion baring its fangs. As a beginner-level martial artist, he naturally carried an intense aura. This made the once-arrogant Wang Meina feel a chill run down her spine.

“You old hag, say that again if you dare.” He had originally planned to tolerate her and avoid unnecessary trouble, but after she found out he was just a stay-at-home dad, she became increasingly presumptuous.

Faced with Jiang Ning’s fierce glare, Wang Meina didn’t dare meet his eyes. She turned and ran off in embarrassment, muttering under her breath, “What are you being so fierce for? You’re just a guard dog anyway. I was being polite to give you some face. Honestly, you’re not even as good as my family’s dog.”

Even though she only grumbled softly, Jiang Ning still heard her loud and clear.

After Wang Meina left, Mengmeng, who had been running ahead, stopped when she noticed Jiang Ning hadn’t caught up. She turned back and saw him facing that old aunt from earlier, and then the aunt ran off with her tail between her legs.

She didn’t hear what Jiang Ning had said to her, but Jiang Ning didn’t want Mengmeng to witness what had just happened. He was afraid of scaring her, especially since he’d lost his temper and even cursed. He didn’t want her picking up bad habits.

Soon, Jiang Ning caught up to Mengmeng.

“Uncle Jiang, that old aunt is so annoying. Mengmeng really doesn’t like her.”

“Yes, Mengmeng is so clever. You could tell at a glance she wasn’t a good person. Come on, let’s go home and play with toys.” Jiang Ning smiled and brought Mengmeng back to the villa.

He first sorted out the groceries and put them away in the kitchen, then took Mengmeng up to the playroom on the second floor.

“Mengmeng, there are so many toys. Let’s pick one to play with first, okay?”

“Yay! Yay!” Mengmeng clapped her hands excitedly.

So, which toy would Mengmeng want to play with first?

She scratched her head, trying to recall what they had just bought, then looked at the two big bags full of toys.

“Uncle Jiang, can we play with Thomas and Friends first?”

“Of course. But Mengmeng, we can only play with toys for half an hour in the morning, okay? After that, we need to draw, write, and today, Uncle Jiang will even teach you how to play the piano.”

“Really? Uncle Jiang is going to teach Mengmeng piano?” She seemed really interested.

“Yes.”

Jiang Ning quickly took out the Thomas and Friends train set, which was the biggest one and had many trains bundled together. He started pulling out the little trains, one by one.

And just like that, he began playing trains with Mengmeng.

Five minutes later…

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. You’ve acquired the Beginner-Level Train Engineer skill.]

A massive stream of information about bullet trains, high-speed rail, control systems, operation, and maintenance flooded into Jiang Ning’s mind, all in great detail.

Jiang Ning was startled. “System, seriously? That worked? So if I want a skill, I just have to find the right toy, and I can get it?”

[Host, the toy must be chosen by Mengmeng. If you choose it, it won’t work.]

Jiang Ning was speechless.

But it didn’t matter. With so many kinds of toys, he could still learn a lot of skills. If he wanted more, he’d just take Mengmeng to the toy store again.

Thinking of this, Jiang Ning’s lips curled into a smile.

Although the beginner-level train engineer skill wasn’t very useful to him now, being only beginner-level made it feel a bit underwhelming. If it were divine-level, that’d be a different story—he’d soar instantly.

Jiang Ning, like a big kid himself, played trains with Mengmeng enthusiastically. Half an hour flew by quickly.

“Mengmeng, that’s it for today’s toy time. We’ll play again tomorrow, okay?”

“But Uncle Jiang, Mengmeng hasn’t had enough fun yet.” She was still full of energy.

“Mengmeng, are you a well-behaved good girl, or a naughty bad girl?”

Hearing that, Mengmeng quickly stood up straight. “Uncle Jiang, Mengmeng is a well-behaved good girl!”

“Alright then. Let’s go read. Today Uncle Jiang will teach you math.”

“Uncle Jiang, what’s math?” Mengmeng asked with confusion.

“Math is arithmetic. For example, how many toys we bought today, the price of each toy, and how much money we spent in total—that’s all part of math.”

“Mengmeng still doesn’t get it.”

“That’s okay. Let’s take it slow. Mengmeng, can you count how many trains there are in Thomas and Friends?”

The moment she heard it involved counting train toys, Mengmeng got interested. She began picking up each train carefully.

“One train!” she shouted.

Then she picked up another. “Two trains!”

Then another. “Three trains!”

…

As she continued counting and picking them up one by one, she finally declared, “Uncle Jiang, I know how many trains there are. There are 8 trains total, right?” She was overjoyed.

Seeing how interested Mengmeng had become, Jiang Ning was delighted too.

Then he picked out 4 trains and asked, “Mengmeng, how many are here now?”

Mengmeng again counted them one by one and said happily, “Uncle Jiang, it’s 4! Did I get it right? Isn’t Mengmeng amazing?”

“Yes, you’re absolutely right. Mengmeng is the best! So, do you think math is fun now?”

“Yes! Uncle Jiang, give me another question! Mengmeng really likes this math game!”

With Mengmeng’s interest sparked, Jiang Ning started playing number games with her—from counting toys, to recognizing numbers, to simple addition.

Soon, five minutes passed.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. You’ve acquired Master-Level Mathematics skill.]

A large amount of mathematical knowledge surged into Jiang Ning’s brain.

“No way… I jumped straight to master-level?”

There was too much information. Jiang Ning couldn’t digest it all at once.

“Mengmeng, go play by yourself for a bit. Uncle Jiang needs to rest.”

“Okay!” Mengmeng nodded obediently and began practicing counting on her own.

Jiang Ning closed his eyes to absorb the mathematical knowledge. After all, reaching master-level in one go wasn’t easy.

Ten minutes later, Jiang Ning opened his eyes. “System, why did my math jump straight to master-level? Wasn’t it supposed to be beginner-level?”

[Host, after graduating from university, your math level was already at top-tier. Postgraduate to doctoral levels count as one more tier—master-level. If it were beginner-level, your math would only be at a primary school level.]

“So that’s how it works… Then since I’m now at master-level math, does that mean I’m ranked number one in the country? No—number one in the world?”

[Host, it’s currently daytime.]

“Huh? System, what do you mean?”

[Host, don’t you get it? You’re daydreaming.]

“Damn it, System, your mouth’s getting sassier. Then, realistically, where does my current math rank in the country?”

[There are many math professors in universities. Almost every university has several professors. Your current level is roughly equivalent to that of a math professor. If you want to surpass them and become number one in the world, you’ll need to reach Grandmaster-Level. Of course, as you continue teaching Mengmeng math, over time, your math skill will gradually improve. You’ll soon surpass the professors, catch up to mathematicians, and eventually become the best in the world.]

Hearing the system’s explanation, Jiang Ning was filled with confidence.

He continued teaching Mengmeng math—from simple toy counting, to number recognition, to basic addition.
