Stunned! My Cat Turned Out to Be a Female CEO - Chapter 21:
Chapter 21: Mr. Xu, You Watched Him 15 Times in 20 Minutes! Same Words, Different Effects!
Dog?
In the entire conference room, Lu Fei and everyone else were briefly stunned by Xu Yan’s sudden outburst. Xu Yan quickly regained her composure, her face calm as she brushed it off. “It’s nothing. I just thought of… my dog.” She cleared her throat and ordered, “Let’s sit down and start the meeting.”
Although her face appeared calm, a faint redness crept up her neck. Seeing Lu Fei reminded her of the embarrassing scene that morning, of him holding her while he slept. What a disgrace! She never imagined running into the mutt here of all places.
The employees didn’t dwell on it and quickly sat down. Lu Fei placed his phone on silent and quietly observed the meeting.
“Dear colleagues, CEO Xu, shall I start the report?” an employee asked.
“Go ahead,” Xu Yan responded.
“Alright.”
The two employees, who had been recognized as the month’s outstanding performers, began presenting their successful investment cases. Xu Yan, however, found herself distracted. She sat at the front of the room while Lu Fei sat quietly in the corner. They were far apart, yet knowing that the dog man was in the same room made her restless.
It’s fine. The meeting is only twenty minutes, she reminded herself.
Soon, the two employees finished their reports. Xu Yan stood up and commented, “Good analysis, keep it up. Meeting adjourned.”
Her gaze swept across the room, but in truth, the only face she saw clearly was Lu Fei’s. She quickly turned and left the room. Once outside, she breathed a sigh of relief, though, for some reason, she also felt a hint of disappointment.
Chen Yu, who was following behind, asked, “CEO Xu, do you want me to check the employee’s information who was sitting in the corner?”
Xu Yan blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
“You looked at him 15 times,” Chen Yu replied flatly. “The meeting only lasted 20 minutes.”
Xu Yan froze. She had looked at the mutt 15 times? It seemed that, unconsciously, she had indeed been glancing at him repeatedly.
Chen Yu added, “Should I pull up his information now?”
“No,” Xu Yan forced herself to sound calm. “He just looked familiar, so I glanced at him a few extra times. It was a mistake.”
“Oh, I see,” Chen Yu replied, teasing, “I thought you were interested in him.”
“Impossible!” Xu Yan, who always maintained her composure, found her voice rising slightly. She was flustered.
Chen Yu looked puzzled but still nodded. “Sorry, I overthought it.”
“It’s fine,” Xu Yan brushed it off, leading Chen Yu back to the top floor.
By the time she got to her office, it was almost four o’clock. It was time to get off work—or rather, time to return to her other ‘home.’ Bah, it wasn’t really home—it was infiltrating the dog man’s house again.
Yet, as Xu Yan walked to the door, she paused. Turning back to her computer, she logged into the personnel system and pulled up Lu Fei’s file.
“Dog man’s birthday…” she muttered. “Let’s see if his password is his birthday.”
At the same time, Lu Fei returned to his desk. Zhou Song rushed over excitedly. “So? Did you see CEO Xu?”
“Yeah,” Lu Fei replied casually.
“Were you excited?” Zhou Song probed.
Lu Fei thought for a moment. “I just looked at my phone and listened to the reports. I didn’t feel anything special.”
Zhou Song sighed exaggeratedly. “My CP dream is shattered.”
Lu Fei chuckled. “It’s okay. Even though your dream is broken, I got a hot pot meal out of it. We still have a bright future.”
Zhou Song could only stare blankly, wondering if this man was even human.
After chatting for a while, Zhou Song returned to work while Lu Fei focused on analyzing stock data. As he reviewed various sectors, something caught his eye at 4:59. Colan Pharmaceuticals. He made a note to examine it in detail later.
He continued scanning and noticed another promising stock—Huaqing Real Estate. After a rough calculation, Lu Fei estimated both stocks could rise by more than five percent. “Good day today,” he smiled, jotting down Huaqing Real Estate before packing up and heading home.
At 6:10 p.m., Lu Fei returned to his community, entering the elevator with a hint of nervousness. “Did Xiaohua come back?” he wondered.
The elevator doors opened. Lu Fei listened carefully—no cat meows. “Didn’t come back?” he muttered. “Guess I’ll have to look for it.”
He sighed, unlocked his door with his fingerprint, and walked in—only to freeze. There, in front of him, was his tabby cat, scratching his sofa! Next to the water glass on the table were fresh water stains. It was obvious—the cat had washed its paws in his cup again.
“Huh? Didn’t the cat leave this morning?” Lu Fei stood dumbfounded.
Xu Yan watched his confused face from her cat form and felt a rush of satisfaction. Dog man! No matter how smart you are, you’d never guess your password has been cracked! She had guessed right—Lu Fei’s house password was indeed his birthday. So, naturally, she let herself back in.
Once inside, the more she thought about it, the more she realized she couldn’t keep letting Lu Fei bully her like this. Her gaze drifted to the sofa. She decided she’d let him rua her one more time—as a cat, of course! Dismantling his sofa seemed totally reasonable now.
Though she knew she might get scolded, she still decided to go for it.
Lu Fei paused for a few seconds, put down his bag, closed the door, changed into slippers, and walked toward her. Xu Yan felt a little nervous but didn’t run away. She knew if she hid under the sofa, Lu Fei would just spray her out with water anyway. At most, he would scold her a few times.
Lu Fei squatted in front of her, gently stroking her head. “I thought you ran away again,” he said softly. “Don’t keep running off. If I don’t see you in the morning, I miss you.”
Xu Yan’s heart pounded at his words. She had heard similar things before from others, but back then, they meant nothing to her. But now… even though the words were the same, they felt completely different. Maybe it was because she had turned into a cat… Yes, definitely because she was a cat.
She looked up at him and sighed inwardly. Dog man, what nonsense are you talking about! Hmph! Who told you to miss me!
