Stunned! My Cat Turned Out to Be a Female CEO - Chapter 33:
Chapter 33: The Same World, The Same Mother! Dog Man, Can You Read Minds?!
She must not speak. She absolutely must not speak! Xu Yan was so embarrassed that she could only snort at Lu Fei before running to the balcony.
Lu Fei smiled and went to tidy up a room.
At 07:15, Lu Fei heard footsteps in the corridor. “They’re here,” he said, standing up to open the door. Xu Yan also turned to look. Outside the door stood a man and a woman. The man wore glasses, had half-white hair, wasn’t fat, and looked very kind. The woman’s face was wrinkled but still pleasant, giving off a friendly and easy-going aura.
Are these the dog man’s parents? Xu Yan suddenly felt an unexplained nervousness.
Lu Fei stepped aside and said, “Come in. Do you want some water?”
“Not thirsty. Your mother brought water,” Lu Changhe replied with a smile.
Zhao Mei added, “The imperial capital traffic is just terrible. We were stuck for more than two hours.”
Lu Fei smiled, “It’s mainly because of the holiday rush. There’s a lot of traffic today.”
“Yes,” Lu Changhe nodded, glancing around the house. “It looks even better than in the video.”
Zhao Mei sighed a little, “14,000 yuan a month… is that manageable?”
Lu Changhe said calmly, “He earns and spends his own money. No need to feel bad for him.”
Zhao Mei agreed, “Indeed, Lu Fei is more capable than we are now.” Both of them worked as teachers in a school, with a combined salary of just 10,000 yuan per month. With some bonuses and spiritual civilization awards, it barely reached 13,000 yuan a month. They certainly couldn’t afford such a place.
Though feeling a bit distressed, Zhao Mei was also proud. Her son was really something.
“Is this Xiao Hua?” After taking a rest, Zhao Mei looked at the cat on the sofa. “So cute.”
“This little raccoon cat is the best—good-looking and healthy,” she said as she walked toward Xu Yan.
Xu Yan nervously took a few steps back. She had confirmed something—whether she was a cat or not, she didn’t like others touching her. Dog men contained more than 50% of dog traits, so they didn’t count as people. They were an exception.
Lu Fei smiled, “Mom, don’t touch it. It’s a stray cat and might not be used to strangers.”
Zhao Mei was a little disappointed. “All right, I’ll start cooking. I’m starving.” With that, she headed into the kitchen.
“Your kitchen doesn’t look like someone who cooks often,” she said. “Did you throw away all the takeaway bags? I told you it’s not healthy to eat takeout all the time. It’s not clean. Cook your own noodles when you have time. Don’t be so lazy.”
When Zhao Mei started talking, she seemed to have an endless list of things to say. Lu Changhe smiled at Lu Fei, “Your mother misses you.”
Lu Fei nodded, “I know.”
Xu Yan sat quietly on the side, listening to their family chat. The dog man’s parents were such good people. How did Lu Fei, with such high dog content, come from them? She couldn’t understand it.
Zhao Mei moved quickly. In less than half an hour, the aroma of fried sauce wafted from the kitchen.
“Come eat,” she called, bringing out three bowls of noodles.
“What does Xiao Hua eat?” Zhao Mei asked.
Lu Fei smiled, “Usually cat food mixed with some meat. But it doesn’t have a fixed eating schedule. When it’s hungry, it eats by itself, so don’t worry about it.”
Zhao Mei looked at Lu Fei. “Did it learn that from you? I told you so many times, eating regularly is good for the stomach. You just never listen.”
Hearing this, Xu Yan suddenly felt refreshed. Dog man, even you have this day! Aunt, well said!
Lu Fei spread his hands helplessly, “I try to eat regularly.”
“Okay, let’s not nag him. Let’s eat,” Lu Changhe said.
Zhao Mei sat down and picked up the chopsticks. Lu Fei stirred the noodles. The rich sauce and the aroma of minced meat coated every strand of noodle. The heat and fragrance rose together. Lu Fei took a bite. The noodles weren’t very firm, but they were smooth and had a distinct carb aroma. Wonderful!
He was really hungry and felt satisfied with every bite.
At that moment, Zhao Mei suddenly asked, “Are you dating anyone?”
Xu Yan’s ears twitched.
Lu Fei bit off the noodles and shook his head, “No.”
Zhao Mei looked anxious, “You’re not young anymore. When I was your age, you were already one year old.”
Xu Yan froze. Why did that sound so familiar? Her mother said the same thing. Goodness! The same world, the same mother!
Lu Fei calmly took a mouthful of noodles, “What’s the rush? I’m not in a hurry.”
Zhao Mei said, “If you date someone, there’ll be someone to take care of you.”
Lu Fei replied, “If I need someone to take care of me, I might as well hire a nurse. What’s the point of falling in love? Besides, your way of thinking is flawed. Is my girlfriend supposed to take care of me? Is the boyfriend supposed to give the girlfriend money? I want my life to be mine, not someone else’s idea.”
Lu Fei was eloquent. These were his real thoughts.
Zhao Mei was stunned. Xu Yan stared at Lu Fei’s back, a little dazed. Dog man doesn’t have mind-reading abilities, does he? These words… she had wanted to say them since she was twelve years old. But she never did. And today, the dog man said them!
Listening to Lu Fei speak, Xu Yan couldn’t help feeling a bit happy. That strange feeling in her heart grew stronger and clearer.
Zhao Mei was speechless. Lu Changhe agreed, “Lu Fei is right. The two of us were also in free love. Why are you always interfering in your child’s feelings?”
Zhao Mei sighed helplessly, “I’m just worried he won’t get married for the rest of his life.”
Lu Changhe looked at Lu Fei, “Then tell us. What kind of girl do you like? This should be acceptable, right?”
When Xu Yan heard this, she turned her head. What kind of girl the dog man liked had nothing to do with her… but her ears were slightly pricked up.
