Chapter 6: The Natural Enemy of Cats Is Truly Dogs—You Dog Man! Xu Yan Has Been Caught!:

After entering his apartment, Lu Fei opened the windows to let in some fresh air. It was September 22, and the heat of the Imperial Capital had finally subsided. The evening breeze flowed into the room, cool and refreshing. The air was neither too hot nor too cold, just perfect for relaxing after a long day at work without the burden of overtime.

Lu Fei soaked in the comfort for a few minutes before turning to look at Little Flower, the cat. “Where did you go yesterday? How did you get out? And where are my clothes?” he asked, crouching down in front of her, puzzled.

“Meow,” Xu Yan, now in cat form, opened her eyes and gazed at him innocently.

‘What are you looking at? I’m just an innocent little kitty.’

Lu Fei reached out to pet her head.

“Meow!” Xu Yan immediately protested.

‘Stop that! Don’t touch me!’

Not wanting to push the boundaries, Lu Fei didn’t insist. He figured it was normal for a cat that had only recently been taken in to resist being touched.

“Alright, let’s get you some food.” Lu Fei said, getting up to fetch some cat food.

Xu Yan didn’t even glance at it. She didn’t eat cat food, not when she had eaten before transforming.

Lu Fei shrugged. “You’ll eat when you’re hungry.”

Afterward, he flopped onto the couch like a lazy fish and pulled out his phone to order dinner. “Let’s go with mala tang,” he muttered, still undecided.

The two hardest questions in life: What to eat for lunch, and what to eat for dinner.

Whenever Lu Fei couldn’t decide, mala tang was his go-to.

One could throw whatever ingredients they wanted in, and it always hit the spot. He didn’t skimp either—if he wanted beef, he’d order three servings. His mala tang cost 68 yuan this time.

As Lu Fei waited for the food, he checked the stock market. Xin’an Energy was still plummeting. “Tsk, Xin’an Energy’s going to crash. I bet it’ll drop to 90 yuan. Should make a profit of 400,000,” he said to himself, satisfied. “Not bad, an 80% return.”

Though his initial investment was small, Lu Fei enjoyed the thrill of playing the market. For him, the process was more exciting than the money itself, which were just numbers on a screen.

Xu Yan, now a cat, was stunned listening to him.

An 80% return? And he thought that was just okay? Was he even human?

Despite her shock, she grew more curious.

“Could he really predict the final price drop in this wave? Probably not. Xin’an Energy is an established company in new energy and a key player in Yang city.” She reasoned to herself.

She made a mental note to consult her company’s senior appraisers tomorrow to determine the stock’s trajectory.

At 6:30 p.m., the food arrived.

Lu Fei grabbed the takeout and sat down to eat. Xu Yan followed, interested in what was going on.

“You want some?” Lu Fei asked playfully. “Sorry, cats can’t have salt. It’s for your own good.”

Ignoring him, Xu Yan licked her paws, pretending not to care.

Lu Fei dug into his meal—medium-spicy mala tang with three beef rolls, lots of vegetables, and prawns. It was quite satisfying for 68 yuan.

After finishing, he cleaned up the trash and placed it in the kitchen. He didn’t worry much about housework because every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, he hired a cleaner for 300 yuan per session, 900 yuan a week, totaling 4,000 yuan a month. It wasn’t expensive for the capital, and it saved him time. All he had to do was occasionally toss his clothes into the washing machine.

Xu Yan watched approvingly from the sidelines as she thought, “Paying for convenience? I respect that. Though, organizing trash and keeping things tidy doesn’t seem so bad.”

As she observed, Lu Fei suddenly rushed over, picked her up, and began rubbing her fur in the wrong direction!

Xu Yan’s entire body stiffened in discomfort. Cats were incredibly sensitive, and having their fur rubbed the wrong way was akin to someone pulling their hair the wrong way while they slept—it was unbearable!

After Lu Fei’s playful attack, he put her back on the ground and sauntered off, laughing.

‘Dog man! Cats’ natural enemy was really the dog!’ She fumed.

She glared at him, her sharp claws peeking out.

‘If only I could…’

But she calmed herself, ‘Stay composed, don’t let anger take over.’

She then began grooming her fur. Though she loathed doing anything a cat would do, she had no choice. The reverse-combed fur was far too uncomfortable.

“Want me to help? I can brush your fur fast.” Lu Fei offered, smirking.

“Meow!” Xu Yan immediately lashed out, swiping her paw at him. Don’t push your luck, bastard!

Lu Fei laughed and, unfazed, went back to his computer, checking the stock market while playing games.

At 9:30 p.m., Lu Fei went to take a shower. Meanwhile, Xu Yan felt incredibly thirsty. She glanced at the water bowl in the corner meant for cats but recoiled.

‘I’m not a cat! How could I possibly drink from that?’

Her eyes wandered to Lu Fei’s glass of water on the table.

‘No… he drank from that… if I drink, then…’

She struggled with the decision. ‘But I’m so thirsty…’

After hesitating for a while, she finally caved. Jumping onto Lu Fei’s chair, then onto the table, she lowered her head and drank from his glass.

‘So refreshing!’ She thought, finally quenching her thirst.

Once satisfied, she glanced at the glass, then down at her paws. ‘You like being a human, don’t you? Well, how about this!’

Grinning mischievously, Xu Yan dipped her paw into the glass. ‘Take that for combing my fur the wrong way!’

Just as her paw touched the water, the door opened, and Lu Fei walked out!
