The Beautiful CEO Only Loves Me - Chapter 34:
Chapter 34: Properly “Reward” My Wife
He remembered clearly that in his previous life, around this exact time, several massive business opportunities had emerged in Jiangcheng.
If he couldn’t seize those chances to accumulate some real strength, then in this lifetime, he might never be able to stand at the same level as Tang Bingyan.
And if two people were not equals, how could love between them last?
However, upon hearing Xu Tian’s words, Tang Bingyan remained unmoved. “If they hadn’t hurt you, I could have turned a blind eye. But now that they’ve laid hands on you, I won’t let a single one of them off.”
Though slightly helpless, Xu Tian felt a warm current in his heart after hearing that.
Still, he didn’t argue further. Tang Bingyan was never someone who could be persuaded once she made up her mind. Pushing the matter now would only reinforce her decision to keep him from going back to work.
Late at night.
The second-floor bedroom was silent.
Tang Bingyan was sleeping on the bed, while Xu Tian lay on the sofa.
With both of them still recovering from their injuries, sharing a bed wasn’t ideal.
Originally, Tang Bingyan had told him to sleep in another room, but Xu Tian insisted on staying in the same one. So he took the sofa.
“No! Don’t!”
A sudden scream pierced the quiet of the bedroom.
Xu Tian sat up abruptly. “Bingyan, what’s wrong?”
Tang Bingyan was sitting up in bed, face pale, breathing heavily, with a sheen of sweat on her forehead—clearly terrified by something.
The maid from the next room quickly entered.
“Miss, you had another nightmare?”
Xu Tian frowned and looked at the maid. “Another one? She has them often?”
He had never shared a room with Tang Bingyan before and had no idea she suffered from nightmares.
“Yes, Miss has been having frequent nightmares lately. She barely sleeps peacefully anymore.”
The maid explained, then walked over to the bedside table and pulled out a bottle of sleeping pills from the drawer.
Recently, Tang Bingyan had been having the same nightmare—seeing Xu Tian burned alive. That dream had robbed her of countless nights of rest.
“I’ll take it from here. You can go,” Xu Tian said as he took the pill bottle from her. The maid nodded and quietly left the room.
Xu Tian glanced at the bottle, then set it down. “Don’t take this anymore. It’s bad for your health.”
Tang Bingyan looked up at him but said nothing.
Seeing how exhausted she looked, Xu Tian gently brushed aside the loose strands of hair on her forehead and smiled. “Want me to tell you a story?”
Tang Bingyan frowned. “I’m not a child.”
Xu Tian chuckled bitterly. “Alright, then should we just talk about something else?”
Tang Bingyan didn’t respond, but she leaned against the headboard, silently waiting for him to speak.
After a pause, Xu Tian finally asked, “Actually, I’ve always had a question. Back then, you didn’t know much about me. Why did you suddenly decide to marry me?”
“Even if you had a weird taste and liked someone like me, there must’ve been others in the capital more like me, right?”
“After we got married, I hurt you so many times, yet you never seemed angry. No matter what I did, you always forgave me.”
“The more you treated me like that, the more I couldn’t handle it. That’s probably why I kept hurting you again and again.”
“You didn’t have to spoil me so much…”
Before he could finish, Tang Bingyan interrupted softly, “I didn’t spoil you.”
Xu Tian immediately choked on his words.
He had been ready to bare his heart and soul, but once again, Tang Bingyan’s blunt nature killed the mood completely.
When they first met, this was what always left him speechless. Every time he laid the groundwork for something touching or meaningful, she’d shut it down in one sentence.
He’d nearly suffered internal injuries countless times because of her.
But he was used to it now. After a brief pause, he simply played along, “If you say you didn’t spoil me, then let me go back to work.”
Tang Bingyan thought for a moment and said, “Alright.”
“Really?”
Xu Tian was surprised.
Just a few hours ago, she was firmly against it. Why the sudden change? Since when was his wife so agreeable?
But before he could celebrate, Tang Bingyan added, “If you want to work, then go be the president of Yan Group. That company was prepared for you anyway.”
Xu Tian: “…”
No wonder she agreed so easily.
Of course, Xu Tian wouldn’t give in so easily either. She had her stubbornness—he had his bottom line too.
He took a deep breath, looked at her seriously, and said, “This year, I want to go to the capital with you. If I’m not mistaken, your grandfather’s birthday is coming up.”
“I doubt you’d want me to show up and use your money to buy his gift, right?”
Tang Bingyan frowned slightly. “We’re husband and wife. What does it matter whose money it is?”
Xu Tian smiled. “If I buy his birthday gift with your money, do you think your family will respect me? I don’t care what other people think—but your family’s opinion matters.”
Tang Bingyan was silent.
Her emotions were mixed.
In the past, Xu Tian would’ve never said something like that.
But now… his words had touched something deep in her heart.
She didn’t care how her family viewed her, but she didn’t want anyone looking down on Xu Tian.
And the fact that Xu Tian was thinking about her family—it meant something.
Maybe it meant he was beginning to care about her.
Still, she had been deceived by him too many times.
She couldn’t tell whether he truly wanted to change… or if he was using this as an excuse to get close to Lin Miaoyin.
One last time.
She would give him one more chance.
After a long pause, Tang Bingyan looked into his eyes. “If you want to go, then go.”
If he lied to her again this time, she would never let him leave her side again.
“Wife, thank you.”
Xu Tian gently cupped her cheeks and placed a soft kiss on her snow-white forehead. “I won’t let you down.”
“Alright,” Tang Bingyan said.
Xu Tian finally smiled with relief.
Then, he lowered his gaze, eyes drifting toward her perfectly shaped, red lips.
Just as he leaned forward to kiss her, he suddenly felt a heaviness on his shoulder.
He looked up—Tang Bingyan was already asleep, breathing steadily.
He was speechless.
He had been planning to properly “reward” his wife for supporting him… and now she had completely missed the chance.
He even felt sorry for her.
The next morning.
When Tang Bingyan woke up, Xu Tian was already gone.
She frowned slightly—until she spotted a bowl of white porridge on the bedside table.
Underneath the bowl… was a folded note.
