Chapter 5: What Makes Him Deserve Her Affection

“Fine! CEO Tang, how wise of you! Let’s see if you come begging me to return tomorrow!” Lin Tong’s gaze turned icy. Seeing Tang Bingyan choose to believe a useless man over trusting his own medical skills, he cast a cold glare at Xu Tian, then stormed out of the room.

Chen Xiaoxiao was furious, helpless, and on the verge of a breakdown. With Tang Bingyan’s identity and status, no one could change her decision once she made it. She dared to entrust her life to Xu Tian—but Chen Xiaoxiao didn’t dare. If anything happened to Tang Bingyan, the entire country would be turned upside down!

“Dr. Lin, wait—”

“Xu Tian! If anything happens to CEO Tang, you’ll die an even more miserable death than you can imagine!” Leaving those harsh words behind, Chen Xiaoxiao chased after Lin Tong.

What Xu Tian needed to do now was find the miraculous doctor who had made headlines in his previous life. Bingyan’s injuries couldn’t be delayed any longer…

It would be fine. He only needed one day!

This time…

He would never let Bingyan down again!

It wasn’t until Xu Tian left the hospital room, his expression full of unwavering resolve, that Tang Bingyan slowly opened her eyes. She stared blankly in the direction he had gone, as if trying to carve his figure into her bones.

“Miss…”

“I don’t understand! Why must it be Xu Tian? He has no status, no reputation, no ability, no wealth. He has nothing. Now he’s even trying to take your life—how long are you going to indulge him?!”

“Are you really going to throw away half your life for him?!”

The speaker was Ah Wei, whose voice carried a suppressed, murderous rage. He was already doing everything he could to restrain his killing intent. If it weren’t for his deep professional discipline, if it weren’t for the fact that Tang Bingyan treasured Xu Tian like her life, he would’ve killed him on the spot!

“Two days from now, prepare for us to return to the Imperial Capital,” said Tang Bingyan.

Ah Wei froze for a moment. Had she finally come to her senses? Was she finally so heartbroken she was ready to let Xu Tian go?

But before he could respond with excitement—already thinking about booking the plane and getting Dr. Lin back—the next second…

He heard Tang Bingyan weakly smile as she adjusted her blanket, “Don’t let anyone know I’m injured.”

Don’t tell anyone…

She meant… even if she were to collapse, she wouldn’t let it happen in Xu Tian’s Jiang City. She would rather collapse in the Imperial Capital?

Otherwise, if she died, her family would take revenge on Xu Tian—is that it?

Ah Wei: “…!!!”

Fury. Rage. Hatred.

All of it surged in Ah Wei’s eyes.

Even if she died, the young miss still wanted to protect Xu Tian’s future. She was afraid the people in the Imperial Capital would target him!

And Xu Tian? What was he doing?

Taking advantage of her trust—over and over—just to hurt her!

Xu Tian!

You better not be lying this time.

If CEO Tang really dies, I’ll give up my life just to make sure you pay for it!

Xu Tian didn’t care if Ah Wei or Chen Xiaoxiao didn’t believe him. Right now, his mind was entirely focused on recalling everything about the divine doctor from his past life.

Maybe because of the rebirth, his memory of past events was unusually sharp!

He remembered…

In his previous life, the reclusive miracle doctor had been burned alive in a fire, and because of his identity, it even trended on social media! The date… it was around the 15th!!

Tomorrow!

…

A few hours later.

Xu Tian arrived in front of a small courtyard home on Changtian Street in Jiang City.

The courtyard looked modest and traditional. Above the wooden door hung a black plaque with four large characters: [Miracle-Handed Divine Doctor].

To an ordinary person, that sign would probably seem like a boastful gimmick.

But having lived a lifetime, Xu Tian knew well—that plaque was handwritten and gifted by an emperor of the Qing Dynasty!

Zhang Zizhen’s great-grandfather had been a royal physician of the imperial court!

“Divine Doctor Zhang! No matter what conditions you set, I’ll agree to all of them! Please, save my son! He’s my only child…”

Right before Xu Tian’s eyes, a man who looked wealthy and powerful was pleading desperately outside the door.

Xu Tian found the man somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t place him for the moment…

At the entrance, Zhang Zizhen’s young apprentice listened to the man’s pleas without expression.

“I don’t know how you found this place, but I’ll say it one last time—no matter how powerful you are, it won’t help. My master announced his retirement a year ago. He’s no longer treating anyone.”

“But—”

The middle-aged man tried to say more, but all he got in response was the heavy slam of the courtyard door!

He stared at the tightly shut door, his eyes filled with utter despair…

His last glimmer of hope—gone.

Just like that.

The hospital director had told him there were only ten days left. If he couldn’t find a doctor by then, his son would surely die…

Why was the heavens treating him this way?

They had already taken his beloved wife—now even his only son?

What use was his power and status if he couldn’t even save his own child?

As the devastated man wandered off, Xu Tian still couldn’t recall where he’d seen him before.

But he wasn’t surprised he’d been rejected.

In his previous life, the reason Xu Tian knew Zhang Zizhen lived in seclusion in Jiang City was because of a trending topic:

Around 5 a.m. tomorrow, Zhang Zizhen would die in a fire—burned alive in this very courtyard!

And the reason it made headlines was that a year earlier, Zhang Zizhen had been involved in a medical accident that led to the death of a severely ill patient.

Although the patient’s family didn’t pursue legal action, the incident became a source of immense guilt for Zhang Zizhen.

After that, he withdrew from the world and refused to treat anyone again.

In the days following Zhang Zizhen’s death, that medical accident was exposed and discussed in depth.

Just when the internet was swarming with accusations that Zhang Zizhen had been a quack punished by the heavens—

A shocking news report suddenly broke…
