Chapter 151: Unsolvable Conflict

“Laugh, laugh, laugh…”

“Hahaha!”

“It’s useless… Master, even if you refuse to accept Qiao’er, it’s useless!”

“Qiao’er will always belong to Master…”

“Master, you can’t deny my existence…”

“Because Qiao’er became like this because of Master…”

“Hahaha!”

Holy Land, Lingyun Tower.

This was where the Holy Land imprisoned the most evil beings of the universe. Outside Lingyun Tower, two Holy Land cultivators at the Divine Transformation Realm stood guard. Their faces were tense, feeling the thick, oppressive death energy leaking from the tower behind them.

The heavy aura of death had completely polluted Lingyun Tower. The usual screams from within had disappeared, replaced only by the mad laughter that echoed endlessly.

Monster.

This was an absolute monster.

In the Holy Land, there were many differing opinions about the ‘witch girl’ locked inside Lingyun Tower.

She could not be killed. She could not even be turned to ashes.

Even the thirteen elders were helpless.

With no better option, they could only imprison her temporarily and wait for the Holy Lord’s return to make a decision.

“Has the Holy Lord still not returned?”

“Since entering seclusion, the Holy Lord has vanished. No one knows when he will be back.”

“Even the disciple assessment has been suspended because of this… It’s the biggest crisis the Holy Land has faced in a century.”

The disciples whispered among themselves.

Yan Qiao’s incident had dealt a heavy blow to the Holy Land, which had always remained lofty and untouchable.

They had distanced themselves from the lower world for too long. Despite their superior heritage, when a true ‘monster’ appeared, most ordinary disciples were powerless to resist.

“If it weren’t for the Holy Son this time, the Holy Land would have suffered unimaginable losses.”

“Damn it. I thought I was a genius, but I was completely manipulated by that witch.”

“Enough! I’m going to cultivate harder!”

The so-called geniuses now had their self-esteem shattered.

They wished only to lock themselves in their rooms and cultivate day and night.

For the elders, this was a blessing in disguise.

“Born in sorrow, die in ease,” they sighed with satisfaction, watching the disciples fervently train.

Holy Fire Palace.

Xu Ze leaned against the head of the bed, eyes closed, resting.

Nalan Yun sat quietly at the table, helping Xu Ze handle the Holy Land’s affairs.

From time to time, she would glance at Xu Ze, worried.

She could feel the heavy atmosphere around him.

But she also knew that no matter what she did, Xu Ze wouldn’t be able to relax.

Because what truly troubled Xu Ze was Yan Qiao—locked in Lingyun Tower.

For Xu Ze, Yan Qiao’s existence placed him in an impossible dilemma.

Had Yan Qiao done wrong?

Yes, terribly wrong.

Her crimes were unforgivable even by the Holy Land’s standards.

Yet Xu Ze knew that the reason she became like this was because of him.

[Rescue the heroines who have been abandoned…]

The system’s mission still echoed in his mind.

Yan Qiao was clearly one of the heroines he was meant to save.

But the crimes she committed…

The conflict made Xu Ze’s head ache unbearably.

“Now is not the time to dwell on this…”

Taking a deep breath, Xu Ze suppressed the irritation in his heart.

Opening his eyes, he got up and walked to Nalan Yun.

“Yun’er, you’ve worked hard these past few days. How’s everything progressing?”

“Holy Son,” Nalan Yun replied seriously, “everything has been handled properly.”

Nalan Yun’s intelligence guaranteed that anything she handled was flawless. Xu Ze didn’t need to worry.

But he knew she barely had time to read because of it.

Feeling slightly guilty, Xu Ze rubbed Nalan Yun’s head and smiled.

“Want to go for a walk?”

Nalan Yun’s eyes lit up and she nodded eagerly.

…

Holy Land, Back Garden.

Snow blanketed the ground, and plum blossoms swayed gently.

Xu Ze walked through the thick snow, feeling the cold wind brushing past, calming his heart.

Beside him, Nalan Yun held a thick book, a white gemstone pendant resting against her chest.

Though her face was expressionless, it was clear she enjoyed the peaceful moment.

Walking with someone she liked and reading a book—this was Nalan Yun’s favorite kind of happiness.

No words were exchanged.

They simply walked quietly.

Yet because of the silence, Xu Ze felt a rare tranquility.

Unlike other girls, Nalan Yun was never noisy.

It was precisely her quiet company that allowed Xu Ze to feel calm.

“Thank you, Yun’er.”

Hearing Xu Ze’s words, Nalan Yun lifted her head in confusion.

Xu Ze smiled, not explaining.

He plucked a winter plum blossom from a branch, looked at it for a moment, then crushed it gently in his hand.

When he opened his palm, it had turned into a small, pure white flower, as pure as the snow around them.

“Yun’er is the most suited for such a pure and flawless little flower…”

He placed the white flower on Nalan Yun’s head.

Nalan Yun blinked, her face slightly red.

“Thank you…” she whispered shyly, her voice barely audible but falling clearly into Xu Ze’s ears.

Looking at Nalan Yun’s innocent appearance, Xu Ze’s heart stirred.

He leaned down and rested his forehead lightly against hers.

“Holy Son…”

Nalan Yun’s heart raced.

But she didn’t resist.

Instead, she closed her eyes and quietly waited.

After nine reincarnations, she had already given everything.

In this life, it no longer mattered…

But Xu Ze pulled back quickly.

He rubbed her head and smiled.

“Holy Son?”

Nalan Yun opened her eyes in confusion.

Seeing Xu Ze’s mischievous grin, she realized she’d been tricked.

“Humph!”

She lightly kicked Xu Ze and, blushing furiously, hugged her book and ran away.

Xu Ze chuckled and was just about to chase after her when he suddenly felt a burning gaze behind him.

He stopped and turned around.

In the distance, hiding behind a tree, was a figure dressed in emerald green.

A pair of resentful eyes stared silently at him.

“Qingqing?”

Xu Ze called out.

Before he could say more, Lu Qingqing turned and ran away, leaving a trail of shallow footprints in the snow.

Xu Ze sighed helplessly.

It seemed that as more and more heroines gathered around him, conflicts that couldn’t be easily resolved were starting to surface.

Not every girl was as open-minded as Nalan Yun.

After nine lifetimes, their hearts had all become a little twisted.

And just now…

The look in Lu Qingqing’s eyes—

For some reason, it looked more and more like Yan Qiao’s.

Xu Ze clearly saw it.

A sense of crisis quietly crept into his heart.
