The Zhang family gawked, their jaws dropping. Xuehua’s expression went blank with shock. “Why is he kneeling? What was the point of such a grand entrance?” She thought, bewildered.
Ye Fan was equally stunned, his face burning with embarrassment. He had no idea why he’d suddenly lost control of his legs. Humiliated, he desperately tried to stand, only to feel the weight of everyone’s scornful stares.
Yang Lu ignored him, instead turning to Xuehua. “Whatever issues you have with me, put them aside. Your grandfather is in danger, and only I can help him. If I fail, you’re free to do whatever you want with me.”
“Really?” She asked, hope flickering in her eyes.
“Yes, really.”
Xuehua’s face softened, and she nodded, stepping back. “If you truly can save him, you can slap me again if you want. I’ll let you,” she said, voice trembling. Compared to her grandfather’s life, her pride meant nothing. If this stranger could help, she would endure anything.
Yang Lu moved past her, kneeling beside Zhang Feng, his focus solely on the task ahead. Ye Fan, still on his knees, growled with anger, his face flushed. “Xuehua, don’t trust him! He’s just—”
Slap! Slap!
Without warning, Xuehua slapped Ye Fan twice, her frustration finally boiling over. ‘How could I have thought he could save Grandpa? And to think I once admired someone like him.’

“Is it true? Thank goodness!” Tears streamed down Xuehua’s face as she turned to Yang Lu. “Thank you, Mr. Yang. I should never have doubted you,” she said. “If you need to slap me again, I won’t resist.”
Yang Lu nodded. “I only did it because time was of the essence. I apologize if it seemed harsh.”
He kept a straight face, but inside, he chuckled inwardly, “Slapping her again would have diminishing returns, It’s no longer worth the effort.”
“Please, there’s no need to apologize. You did well. Thank you, Brother Yang,” Xuehua said, her cheeks turning pink. She looked at him with newfound admiration. “This man saved my grandfather and taught me a valuable lesson. I was wrong to misjudge him.”
Ye Fan, still on his knees, glared at them, a wave of jealousy and anger washing over him.
