The Villain Who Slapped the Heroines Until They Begged to Marry Him - Chapter 39:
Chapter 39: You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me:
At this moment, Yang Lu noticed Zhao Ritian peeking in.
With a big grin, he waved him over. “Brother Zhao! Come here, let me introduce you to my good friend!” He made sure to emphasize “good friend,” so Zhao Ritian would understand just how important Ye Fan was to him.
“Good friend?!” Zhao Ritian immediately focused on the term.
“If he’s your good friend, then he’s my enemy.” He thought with a smug look. Nonetheless, he walked over to them with a friendly smile.
“Ye Fan, meet my dear brother, Zhao Ritian,” Yang Lu said, gesturing to Zhao Ritian. “He served in the military, a really great guy. He’s helped me out a lot over the years. Let him take you to the hospital.”
Ye Fan, exhausted and aching, glared at Yang Lu.
‘Good brother? So, he’s another of Yang Lu’s henchmen?’ Ye Fan’s mind spun.
Yang Lu turned to Zhao Ritian, his face sincere. “Brother Zhao, my friend here isn’t feeling well. Could you take him to the hospital?”
Zhao Ritian clapped his hand over his chest, smiling confidently. “Brother Yang, if he’s your friend, he’s my friend too. Don’t worry; I’ll make sure he gets to the hospital.”
“Thank you both,” Ye Fan said, forcing a smile.
‘These two are definitely cut from the same cloth. He thought. He kept his suspicions to himself, though, not wanting to show his discomfort.
“Come on, Ye Fan, let me help you.” Zhao Ritian said, grabbing Ye Fan’s arm with a little too much force, causing Ye Fan to wince in pain.
These two are definitely partners in crime, he thought as his ribs ached.
Ye Fan, hiding his anger, reached out his hands and patted Zhao Ritian on the arm. “No worries. I’m tougher than I look.” But the moment he touched him, Zhao Ritian’s face twisted in pain as his arm went numb. ‘This guy is as despicable as Yang Lu.’ He thought.
The two hobbled toward the exit, each of them feigning smiles but clearly holding grudges against the other. They gritted their teeth and muttered their way out, each hoping to get back at the other when the time was right.
Yang Lu watched them go, chuckling to himself.
two protagonists clashing—now that’s a sight to see!
If the author could see this “harmonious” scene, they’d probably be in tears, he thought, enjoying the irony.
“Yang Lu, I have to go,” Lin Xiaohan said, her face flushed with nervousness as she stood outside the Zhu family’s mansion.
Just as she was about to step into her car, Yang Lu caught her arm. “You’re not planning to go back on your word, are you?” He raised an eyebrow, reminding her of the promise she’d made in exchange for his help with Zhu Zhimin.
Lin Xiaohan’s face turned even redder. “I would never go back on my word! After my birthday next week… we’ll talk then.” She quickly climbed into her car and sped off, her face burning with embarrassment.
Yang Lu watched her leave, chuckling to himself. “Oh, I’ll be there. Let’s see what excuses you have then. System, time to draw the lottery!”
Yang Lu was in high spirits.
Not only had he dealt with Ye Fan, but he’d also managed to set Zhao Ritian and Ye Fan against each other. He knew they were probably at each other’s throats by now. But for now, his focus was on his lottery rewards.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You’ve won the Sixth Level of the Nine Yang Divine Art!]
“Sixth level, huh? That’s some serious progress,” Yang Lu mused, pleased with his prize. His strength had taken a significant leap. If it weren’t for Ye Fan’s protagonist status, Yang Lu could probably finish him off with one punch by now. Soon enough, he’d be able to handle Zhao Ritian, too.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You’ve won a set of Despair Pills. Best used when the opponent is at their lowest, it completely destroys their spirit and leaves them broken.]
“Perfect! This is gold!” Yang Lu grinned, delighted with his second reward.
Imagine the protagonist taking this pill—it’d drain all their will to fight.
He couldn’t wait to see the effects. The only catch was he’d have to use it at just the right moment, when the target was feeling utterly defeated and helpless.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You’ve completed the Special Item Shard set! 6/6 shards collected.]
“Hahaha! Finally! Now, what does this mystery item do?”
