The Villain’s Wishes Backfire and the Protagonists Take the Hit - Chapter 1:

Chapter 1:

“Boss, there’s a female student over there who broke a porcelain cup. We asked her to compensate according to the price, but she’s been crying the whole time.”

Hearing the voice beside his ear, Chen Zhuo jolted awake from a hazy daze.

The darkness before his eyes scattered into faint specks, and gradually, those specks sharpened into clarity. Rows of shelves came into view.

His mind slowly cleared.

“This is… the ‘Qingning’ Supermarket at Zhongjiang University?”

Memories surged up from the depths of his mind. A clear plotline unfolded, piece by piece.

He… a great villain who had transmigrated into a novel, had actually been reborn.

In his previous life, as the ultimate villain, he had been bound to a Wish System.

Every day, he could make one wish that would act upon himself.

As long as the wish didn’t collapse the world’s system, it would be fulfilled with 100% certainty.

Ten-thousandfold strength, god-tier medical skills, an invulnerable body, lightning-fast speed…

With the system’s help, he crushed countless protagonists and was on the verge of becoming the ruler of the world.

The final Son of Destiny had been completely trapped by his schemes. Watching his own female lead get taken away, he died with hatred in his heart.

At that moment, the Heavenly Dao flew into a rage. The world was forcibly reset. Darkness swallowed Chen Zhuo’s vision, and he lost consciousness.

“I was doing perfectly fine as the great villain. This damn Heavenly Dao… if you can’t handle losing, then don’t play!”

Chen Zhuo rubbed his temples and looked at the shop assistant beside him, who was wearing a blue uniform, “What did you just say?”

The assistant quickly repeated, “Boss, I said there’s a female student over there who broke a porcelain cup. We asked her to compensate according to the price, but she’s been crying the whole time.”

Chen Zhuo nodded lightly, “Got it. I’ll head over right away.”

He sorted through the plot in his mind. If he remembered correctly, this was the opening plotline of Top-Tier Second Generation in the City.

And the girl who broke the porcelain cup was named Jiang Qiuli.

She was one of the female leads in this novel.

As for him, he was a third-year student at Zhongjiang University, from a family with a tiny bit of money.

Following his family’s arrangements, he had participated in the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship competition.

This supermarket was his startup project.

And this very incident… the broken porcelain cup… was the beginning of how he, a minor villain, would get beaten up by the protagonist.

He would use this as leverage to threaten the female lead, and the Son of Destiny would arrive to play the hero saving the beauty.

If nothing unexpected happened, in three days, something very unexpected would happen to him.

After straightening out the plot, he walked toward the supermarket’s storage room, which also doubled as the surveillance and security room.

He dismissed the other employees and arrived alone at the door.

Pushing it open, he saw a delicate and pitiful girl curled up in the corner.

Her skin wasn’t pale and soft, but carried a faint wheat-toned hue, giving her a natural kind of beauty.

Her bangs rested lightly on her forehead, softening her entire appearance. Beneath them was a delicate and smooth face, though slightly flushed. Her large, watery eyes were still misted over.

She had clearly been crying just moments ago.

“So, I heard you broke something and don’t want to compensate?” Chen Zhuo looked at the girl dressed in a gray baseball jacket, gray knitted sweatpants, and classic black-and-white canvas shoes, his voice cold.

“I… I’ll pay later,” Jiang Qiuli said weakly.

Chen Zhuo studied her for a moment, feeling quite satisfied deep down.

He had to admit, this female lead possessed a unique kind of beauty… fragile yet resilient, like she could be crushed at any moment but still stubbornly stood tall.

According to the original plot, as a minor villain, he would threaten Jiang Qiuli here.

He would try to force something to happen between them.

And at that exact moment, the protagonist would burst through the door, staging a dramatic scene of hero saving the beauty.

“The porcelain cup you broke is a bit more expensive than ordinary ones, but it’s only 48 yuan. You can’t even afford 48 yuan?” Chen Zhuo deliberately asked.

Knowing the plot, of course he knew she couldn’t afford it.

Five years ago, something had happened to Jiang Qiuli’s family.

Her father had offended someone and was trapped in a scheme. All their assets were swallowed by others, leaving behind nothing but a mountain of debt.

In despair, her father chose to end his life.

Fortunately, since they didn’t inherit his assets, they didn’t have to inherit all his debts either. The remaining debt on her mother was only a few hundred thousand yuan.

Mother and daughter managed to barely survive.

However, a year ago, Jiang Qiuli’s mother was diagnosed with mid-to-late-stage cancer.

The last shred of hope for the family was completely shattered. At that time, Jiang Qiuli had just entered university. Thankfully, she had student loans, otherwise she wouldn’t even have been able to pay her tuition.

Now, she also had to take care of her mother in the hospital.

Time and energy meant little to her… but money was everything.

She had even squeezed every last bit out of those watch-ads-for-cash apps.

Every single yuan she had needed to be carefully planned.

Her ability to withstand any risk was zero.

Especially now… her minimum living allowance wouldn’t be issued until the day after tomorrow. The money she had left had already been allocated down to the last cent.

She had come to the supermarket to buy a cheap thermos for her mother.

So that when she wasn’t there, her mother could still easily drink warm water.

Last week, she had already come to check. She had set her eyes on a glass thermos priced at 18.8 yuan… not expensive.

So over the past few days, she cut down even further on her meal budget.

After saving for several days, she finally gathered enough money to buy the thermos.

But just as she excitedly took it down from the shelf, she accidentally knocked into a porcelain cup beside it.

The cup fell and shattered into pieces.

Its price was 48 yuan.

Even if she used up all the food budget for both herself and her mother for the next two days, it still wouldn’t be enough to cover it.

Seeing Jiang Qiuli remain silent, Chen Zhuo asked again, “Don’t tell me you really can’t afford 48 yuan? Saying you’ll pay later… doesn’t that just mean you won’t pay at all?”
