Chapter 2: After the Divorce, I Became the Su Taizi of the Capital Circle!

“BOOM!”

Upon hearing those words, Gu Yuyao froze, her beautiful eyes widened in disbelief. Ye Cang… was asking for a divorce?

Over their three years of marriage, they had talked about divorce before, but it was always she who brought it up. Every time, Ye Cang would silently endure, never agreeing. But this time, he brought it up himself?

Shocked for a moment, Gu Yuyao’s expression quickly turned furious, as if she had been insulted. She said, “Ye Cang, are you crazy? I haven’t even mentioned divorce. What right do you have to bring it up? Besides, I didn’t even hold you accountable for hitting Brother Yanqing, and you’re acting so petty. Are you really that scared he’ll steal me away from you?”

In her mind, Gu Yuyao believed she had seen through everything. “Isn’t this what you wanted?”

But Ye Cang’s cold laugh stunned her even more. He glanced at the unconscious Gao Yanqing on the ground and said, “I wish you two a lifetime of happiness. Ex-wife, farewell forever.”

He heavily signed his name on the Divorce Agreement and turned to leave. From this moment, Gu Yuyao was no longer his wife. From now on, he would have nothing more to do with the Gu Family. Their honor or downfall would no longer concern him.

Gu Yuyao was dumbfounded. What was wrong with Ye Cang today? Did he eat explosives?

But the bold words “Divorce Agreement” on the floor shook her. She stood up and shouted, “Ye Cang, if you divorce me, don’t regret it!”

Regret? A mysterious smile tugged at the corner of Ye Cang’s lips. Shouldn’t the one regretting be her?

The business world was like a battlefield. After Gu Yuyao’s parents jumped to their deaths, she had become a target of unknown forces. For the past three years, Ye Cang had been protecting her in secret. And now she had the nerve to talk about regret?

Ye Cang found it laughable. Oh, and the Old Servant’s illness—wasn’t he the one treating it too? If the Old Servant found out they divorced, would he not beat this so-called ‘filial daughter’ to death?

When Ye Cang paused, Gu Yuyao thought he was regretting it. Hmph, just as she expected—he was only bluffing. Would Ye Cang really divorce her? Impossible.

Gu Yuyao paused and continued, “Once you divorce me, not only will you never see me again, but where will you and your mother live? You’ve already been kicked out of the Ye Family and labeled as their enemy. If you dare show up in Dragon City, you’re finished! And your mother’s illness needs money, right? Without me, you two will starve!”

She listed all the reasons why Ye Cang wouldn’t dare divorce her.

But Ye Cang couldn’t help but laugh aloud, as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. “Do you really believe that?”

He laughed heartily. Yes, he had been expelled from the Ye Family. Even if he hadn’t been, he was still just an illegitimate son, despised and lowly. But no one knew—after being expelled, he and his mother were taken in by another top-tier noble family: the Qin Royal Family, the Ye Family’s mortal enemy.

His mother, however, still missed Ye Cang’s biological father and refused to rely on their rival. But Ye Cang had no such attachment. If he wanted to, he could become the Su Taizi of the capital circle at any time!

“How can ants understand the greatness of giants?” Ye Cang looked at Gu Yuyao and said, “I should thank you—thank you for your betrayal. It gave me the determination to stop settling for mediocrity. From now on, I’ll become someone you have to look up to.”

With that, Ye Cang walked away calmly.

Outside the Gu Family residence, Ye Cang took out his phone and dialed a long-dormant number. “It’s me. Meet two conditions, and I’ll join you.”

There was a brief silence on the other end before a single word came, “Speak.”

“First, send my mother’s body to the Cryogenic Preservation Center. Second, help me gather six rare Medicinal Herbs.”

“Done.”

There was only one Cryogenic Preservation Center in the entire nation—it was nearly impossible to gain access to. And the six rare Medicinal Herbs were even harder to find. But the Qin Family could make it happen.

Not long after, news came from Dragon City—the Qin Family’s top financial group, the Platinum Imperial Palace, would be settling in Jiang City, causing a sensation. Everyone was speculating why this giant, long rooted in Dragon City, was suddenly coming to Jiang City.

Rumors spread further that not only the Platinum Imperial Palace, but also powerful forces from Huhai, Suhang, the northeast, and even regions across the country would be flocking to Jiang City.

Chaos erupted. The entire Jiang City was thrown into turmoil. The most obvious result would be a complete reshuffling of the city’s power structure.

But Gu Yuyao, who had indirectly caused all this, knew nothing about it. At that moment, she was still sitting beside Gao Yanqing. When she saw him wake up, she immediately asked with concern, “Brother Yanqing, are you alright?”

Gao Yanqing, upon waking, felt a burning pain in his cheek. Remembering Ye Cang’s punch, his anger surged. But seeing the worried look in Gu Yuyao’s eyes, he forced a smile and said, “I’m fine…”

“This Ye Cang, how could he hit you? You just had surgery, you can’t do any strenuous activity, yet he still struck you…”

Gu Yuyao was both angry and heartbroken. “But it’s fine now. I’ve already divorced him. No one will get in our way anymore…”

Gao Yanqing’s expression changed. “What? You divorced him?”

“Yes, he brought it up.”

Gu Yuyao nodded. Thinking of what Ye Cang said earlier, her face turned gloomy. Her proud heart felt like it had been stabbed. She hadn’t even brought up divorce—what gave him the right?

And that nonsense about becoming someone she would look up to—wasn’t that the funniest joke she had ever heard?

Even if the Gu Family had declined, a lean camel was still bigger than a horse. Ye Cang? Not even in his next life.

Gao Yanqing gently patted her back and smiled, “At least he knows his place. He only punched me once and didn’t continue bothering you. One punch for your freedom—it was worth it.”

“Brother Yanqing…” Gu Yuyao was touched and just about to say something—

“RING RING RING!”

The sharp ringing of the phone broke the moment. Gu Yuyao picked up her phone and saw it was her grandfather calling.

“Hurry to the hospital—something big happened!” Gu Zhenghong’s voice was anxious on the line.

“Bring Xiao Cang with you!” he added.

“Grandpa…” Before Gu Yuyao could say more, Gu Zhenghong had already hung up.

“What’s wrong?” Gao Yanqing couldn’t help but ask when he saw her expression.

“Grandpa didn’t say, but it must be something at the hospital.”

But why did Grandpa specifically ask for Ye Cang to come? He had already divorced her!

Gu Yuyao didn’t think too much and rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Ye Cang had made all the arrangements. Not only would the Qin Family send the Platinum Imperial Palace to support him in Jiang City, but they had even arranged a new marriage for him—to a young lady from one of the Qin Family’s branches.

Ye Cang didn’t care about the marriage. He only cared about whether the Platinum Imperial Palace could find the six legendary Medicinal Herbs for him.

As he passed a hospital, Ye Cang noticed a large crowd gathered, with reporters taking photos.

“What’s going on?”

He recognized it as the Gu Family’s hospital.

“You don’t know? The God of Wealth of Jiang City, Qin Caishen, was poisoned and attacked—he’s being treated here.”

“Yunding Empire under his name gave a death order—no matter the cost, he must be saved. Right now, Director Gu has summoned thirty-six top doctors for an emergency meeting!”

“I’ll go take a look.”

Amid the shocked and confused looks of the onlookers, Ye Cang strode inside. Though he was divorced from Gu Yuyao, the Old Servant had treated him as family—he couldn’t just ignore this.

…

In the hospital’s conference room, as Director, Gu Yuyao had already understood the situation and felt her heart sink. Despite so many top experts present, not one could identify what kind of poison Qin Caishen had been afflicted with…

Even a priceless special medicine had failed. In fact, before summoning these thirty-six doctors, the hospital had already tried using a rare, top-grade special medicine—but it was useless.

This was a first for her since becoming Director.

Gu Zhenghong looked at the line of doctors in white coats and said grimly, “All of you here are experts in this field. If none of us can come up with a treatment plan, it’s not just our Gu Family hospital that will lose credibility—Jiang City’s entire medical field will be questioned!”

…

But all thirty-six experts remained silent. Anyone who met Gu Zhenghong’s eyes quickly looked away.

“No one has anything to say?”

“Old Director, come on… even pushing ducks onto a perch takes time. Our hospital’s top medicine didn’t work—calling in every famous doctor nationwide wouldn’t help.” Deputy Director Kang Zhengbang’s tone was unpleasant.

What bad luck to get involved in this mess…

It was Qin Caishen of Jiang City, after all. If cured, there would be glory and wealth. But if not—their reputations would be ruined. Who could bear that risk?

Kang Zhengbang’s words hit the others like a heavy stone, crushing their confidence. Yes, even the top special medicine didn’t work—what could they possibly do?

This whole meeting was just for show…

Seconds ticked by. The atmosphere in the room grew heavier, so quiet that everyone could hear each other’s heartbeat. Gu Yuyao looked pale, and Gu Zhenghong looked like he had aged ten years in an instant.

“It seems… we must prepare for the worst…”

“I think I can give it a try.”

Suddenly, a voice broke the suffocating silence.

Everyone turned their heads in unison.

The doors of the conference room swung open, and a tall figure stepped inside.

“Ye Cang? Why is it you?”
