Chapter 122: The Discovery of Master Ye Chen

In an instant, the two clashed and separated after one exchange—one of them sent flying through the air.

Last time, when Brother Braid fought Chen Lang, it was he who got knocked back. But this time, it was Ye Chen who was flung across the field. Blood burst from Ye Chen’s mouth, spraying out through his mask.

Brother Braid maintained his punching stance, staring in confusion at Ye Chen’s airborne body. Had that park incident been a fluke? Was he really just lucky enough to land a kick last time?

Meanwhile, Ye Chen hit the ground hard, stunned. He was sure he had landed his kick—but somehow, he was the one who had been knocked away. He gritted his teeth. It must’ve been a coincidence. The guy got lucky again!

In reality, Brother Braid’s footwork was deceptive and mysterious. What looked like openings were actually traps. When he fought Chen Lang, the latter didn’t even play his game—he kicked clean through it. But Ye Chen, failing to read the trap, exposed himself as soon as he lifted his leg. Brother Braid used that flaw to counter and launch him into the air.

To put it plainly: Chen Lang was operating on the sixth floor, Brother Braid on the third, and Ye Chen hadn’t even finished the first floor.

Ye Chen spat out two more mouthfuls of blood. Though seriously injured internally, he hadn’t collapsed yet. He struggled to his feet, trembling, and glared defiantly at Brother Braid.

“I was careless! You just got lucky dodging my kick. Come at me again!”

Brother Braid was startled by the sheer audacity of that statement. Still, he remained cautious, weaving side to side again before launching another snake-like, lightning-fast assault.

The result?

Ye Chen was once again blasted backward, his body arching through the air and trailing a mist of blood before crashing to the ground—completely motionless.

This time, Brother Braid saw it clearly. It wasn’t luck. Ye Chen couldn’t keep up with him at all.

He walked over, spat disdainfully next to Ye Chen, and scoffed, “Tch. I thought you were some kind of expert. Turns out you’re just a Qi Refining Realm trash. Can’t believe I misjudged so badly.”

Brother Braid stepped on Ye Chen’s head, rubbed his own bald crown, and frowned. Had he been wrong about the person in the park? That masked man with sunglasses had terrified him—he couldn’t even sense his cultivation.

And in the world of martial arts, that only meant two things: either that person had no cultivation… or they were at a realm so high it far surpassed his own.

That single terrifying kick from Chen Lang had shattered Brother Braid’s Dao heart, leaving a seed of fear that haunted his training. That was the real reason behind today’s duel.

To move forward in the ancient martial path, a martial artist must be fearless. That fear had become his inner demon—and this duel was a make-or-break moment to overcome it.

He had come here today with only two outcomes in mind: conquer his fear… or die.

Instead, he knocked Ye Chen out in just two blows.

It had to have been an illusion that day. That man… wasn’t Ye Chen!

Touching his bald head, Brother Braid felt his confidence returning. His inner demon had vanished. His fear, gone. The haze lifted. His heart was finally at ease.

“I must have been too tired lately. Hallucinated the whole thing.”

Satisfied, he used Ye Chen’s head as a springboard, leapt up, his cloak unfurling like wings, and disappeared into the forest.

Behind a tree far in the distance, Chen Lang squatted silently.

He had witnessed the entire fight and could only sigh deeply as he closed his eyes.

Collapse. Total collapse. This plot had completely fallen apart.

In the original novel, there had indeed been a dramatic solo fight between Ye Chen and the flower thief. The story went that the flower thief attempted to assault a certain female lead, only to be stopped by Ye Chen, sparking a vendetta. Later, the two agreed to duel in a park.

According to the novel, it was a grand, intense battle. The author spent several chapters on it. Initially, Ye Chen struggled, but eventually, he made a comeback with a desperate move and killed Brother Braid. That moment earned him massive fame in the ancient martial world—Satan’s name became legendary.

More importantly, Brother Braid wasn’t acting alone. He had the support of the Hehuan Sect.

Following his death, the Hehuan Sect sent experts to challenge Ye Chen, creating a wave of enemies for the protagonist to fight through, leveling up in the process.

Chen Lang had been excited about this battle. He remembered the original scenes being incredibly intense, so he had come to observe and see how far Ye Chen’s martial arts had progressed. Since he didn’t exist in this part of the story, he wasn’t included in the original timeline.

It didn’t matter. Using his sharp perception technique, he had scanned the entire Nanjiang area and quickly pinpointed the surge of martial energy from this direction. Then, using his silent movement technique, he arrived instantly.

He had expected to witness Ye Chen’s glorious display of power.

Instead… this?

Knocked out in two moves. Not even a full three exchanges.

Trash protagonist!

Chen Lang scratched his head in frustration. What now? The plot’s ruined!

More importantly, Brother Braid wasn’t supposed to survive. And with the Hehuan Sect’s mobs still intact, who was going to help Ye Chen level up in the future?

Using his divine sense, Chen Lang checked Ye Chen’s condition. Though the guy was lying motionless, he still had a faint pulse—barely breathing, but alive.

After all, the protagonist was protected by the will of heaven. No way he’d die this early.

Chen Lang didn’t linger any longer. He turned and disappeared into the shadows, heading back to rework his plans and figure out how to fix the plot.

Meanwhile, at Ye Chen’s villa…

Inside the villa, Master Ye Chen paced back and forth anxiously. A heavy sense of unease weighed on his heart. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Ye Chen might not be a match for the flower thief.

While he was impressed by Ye Chen’s incredible recovery abilities, he had long noticed that Ye Chen’s actual progress in ancient martial arts was far too slow. It was as if all his skill points had gone into healing after beatings rather than improving his strength.

Despite the worry, he couldn’t go to Nanshan Park. In the world of ancient martial arts, one-on-one duels had rules—no outside interference, no companions, and absolutely no support. Breaking that code would bring shame and ruin one’s reputation.

He had no choice but to wait. He decided that if Ye Chen didn’t return within two hours, he would break the rules and take someone to look for him.

For now, he could only pace restlessly through the villa.

But as he walked past one of the rooms, Master Ye Chen suddenly stopped. His ears twitched as he caught faint sounds coming from inside. Following the noise, he stepped up to the closed door and listened closely.

It was Xiao Hei’s room.

Master Ye Chen’s expression darkened. His disciple was out fighting a critical duel, and his little brother still had the mood to do this?

But after a moment, his expression shifted. He seemed to hear… Pandan’s voice?

Why was Pandan in Xiao Hei’s room?

Without hesitation, Master Ye Chen lifted his foot and kicked the door open.

Inside came a startled scream. Pandan hurriedly pulled a blanket over herself.

Master Ye Chen’s face turned cold as he looked at the two inside. His brow furrowed deeply.
“You… hmph!!”

Without another word, he slammed the door shut.

That evening, Ye Chen was carried back to the villa by several people.

Earlier, they had tried calling him, but he hadn’t responded. Fearing something had happened, everyone rushed to Nanshan Park—only to find Ye Chen unconscious in the woods.

They brought him back and laid him on the bed in his room.

Master Ye Chen quickly took his pulse, and his face became even more serious. The situation was grim.

There was a residual breath of internal energy left behind by the enemy, rampaging through Ye Chen’s meridians. It was dangerous—if not dealt with in time, it could erode his organs and ultimately lead to death.

Judging from the aura, the flower thief had completely overwhelmed Ye Chen. Their levels weren’t even close.

After a full diagnosis, Master Ye Chen finally let out a breath. Though the situation was bad, he was, after all, an ancient physician. It wasn’t beyond saving.

Two days later, Ye Chen finally woke up.

He sat slumped against the headboard, pale and listless, slowly sipping the gruel Pandan spooned into his mouth.

The last beating had been painful but mostly superficial. This time, it was different.

There were no wounds on his body. No bruises. No bleeding.

But only Ye Chen understood the pain inside.

His injuries were internal. A strange aura was still moving through his body, wandering aimlessly. Every place it touched felt like it was being chewed by ants. The agony was endless.

This time, his opponent hadn’t been some mobster or junior cultivator.

This was a real expert in ancient martial arts. The kind whose attacks would leave lasting damage, the kind that planted sickness in the bones.

Beside the bed, Master Ye Chen channeled his internal energy into Ye Chen’s body, helping suppress and guide the chaotic energy wreaking havoc within.

After the treatment, he turned to Xiao Hei and Pandan standing quietly nearby, his eyes filled with hesitation.

He wanted to speak… but stopped himself.

In the end, he could only sigh.

Xiao Hei and Pandan exchanged glances nervously, but both quickly looked away, saying nothing.
