Villain Marrying The Heroine Is Perfectly Plausible, Right? - Chapter 46:
Chapter 46: I Am Against This Marriage!
The emcee, quick on his feet, smiled and said, “It seems our groom wants to hear those three words again! Well, we must fulfill the groom’s wish!”
He turned back to Xiao Mingyue and asked loudly, “Ms. Xiao Mingyue, are you willing to marry Mr. Chen Lang as your husband, to love and respect him, and to be with him forever? Say it loud and clear!”
Xiao Mingyue held the microphone with a determined gaze. Her voice was firm as she declared to the audience, “I do!!!”
Boom!
The audience erupted in even more enthusiastic applause.
The emcee, still holding the microphone, turned to Chen Lang. “Mr. Chen, did you hear that? Ms. Xiao said she will! She will!”
Chen Lang’s smile remained fixed, but inside, he was unraveling. Something was definitely off. Xiao Mingyue was supposed to be reluctant, maybe even angry, yet here she was, smiling?
This wasn’t how things were supposed to go!
He wasn’t the only one who noticed something was wrong. Jiang Mengyao, seated in the audience, was equally stunned. Dressed in a sleek black dress, she watched Xiao Mingyue shine on stage, her fists clenching.
This wasn’t what Chen Lang’s diary had predicted. Jiang Mengyao suddenly realized there was only one explanation—Chen Lang’s diary wasn’t the only one of its kind!
In contrast, Cheng Jinjin, sitting nearby in her bridesmaid dress, had guessed this might happen. She was nibbling on an apple, watching the scene unfold with interest. Chen Lang’s expressions were fascinating to observe.
The situation was changing from what he’d written in his diary, and Chen Lang was undoubtedly shocked.
Having to keep smiling through this ordeal was truly agonizing for him!
Meanwhile, the most relieved people were the Xiao family members in the audience.
Old Mrs. Xiao, Xiao Mingyue’s second uncle, the head of the Xiao family, and Xiao’s parents had been on edge. They knew how resistant Xiao Mingyue had been to this arranged marriage, and they had forced her to go through with the wedding.
They had feared she might say something unexpected. If the Chen family lost face at the wedding, the consequences would be disastrous. After all, the most influential people in Nanjiang City appeared here, thanks to Chen Lang’s father. If the Chen family were humiliated, it would be a catastrophe for the Xiao family.
But thankfully, their worst fears hadn’t happened.
Old Mrs. Xiao’s smile deepened, and she remarked to those around her, “Our Mingyue has always been sensible! She knows that personal happiness is insignificant compared to the future of our family.”
Cheng Jinjin, sitting behind them, rolled her eyes at the comment. She knew that Xiao Mingyue’s acceptance had more to do with her understanding of Chen Lang’s changes than any loyalty to her family.
Old Mrs. Xiao’s self-righteousness was ridiculous. If she cared so much about the family’s future, why didn’t she get married herself? What hypocrisy!
The wedding proceeded, moving on to the final segment. The relatives from the Xiao and Chen families took to the stage, handed out red envelopes, and formally acknowledged the marriage.
After Chen Lang’s parents and all the Xiao family members had taken their turns, a sudden voice echoed through the room.
“I am against this marriage!!!”
The voice was abrupt, cutting through the ceremony like a knife.
The room fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Every eye in the audience turned to the man standing among the guests, wearing a peaked cap.
Chen Lang’s eyes lit up.
Yes! Even though the heroine wasn’t following the script, the protagonist was finally making his move!
All Ye Chen needed to do was awaken Xiao Mingyue’s rebellious side, and then whisk her away from the wedding.
Whether she initially agreed or not wouldn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things. There was still hope!
Chen Lang followed the crowd’s gaze and looked at Ye Chen, feigning shock.
Ye Chen stood tall, his eyes filled with determination, a confident smile playing on his lips.
His voice had carried through the room with the help of some internal energy, making it especially clear. The resulting silence in the audience pleased him greatly.
“Why does that guy look so familiar?”
“Isn’t that the ‘Opening Brother’?”
“Oh wow, he’s really picking a fight with Chen Lang!”
“Wait, why do you call him ‘Opening Brother’?”
“Haven’t you heard? ‘If I don’t open the door, none of you can get in!’ You must not be in the know. That all happened at the Jiang family auction…”
Most of the people present were influential figures in Nanjiang City, and many had attended the infamous auction, so they remembered Ye Chen well.
As those in the know began explaining the ‘Opening Brother’ incident to the uninformed, murmurs spread through the room.
But the most shocked person in the room was Sun Zhentian.
Ye Chen had pestered Sun Zhentian to take him to this wedding days in advance. Sun Zhentian had been reluctant at first, remembering the disaster at the auction where Ye Chen had embarrassed him. But in the end, he couldn’t refuse and agreed, on the condition that Ye Chen kept a low profile.
And now, here he was, doing the exact opposite!
With everyone in Nanjiang City watching, Ye Chen had the nerve to oppose this marriage?!
As the realization hit, Sun Zhentian, trying to blend in with the shocked crowd, began to quietly inch away from Ye Chen. He didn’t want any association with this chaos.
If Ye Chen was going to get himself killed, Sun Zhentian wanted no part of it.
As the audience recognized Ye Chen, shouts of anger filled the room.
“Who do you think you are, to oppose such a perfect match?”
“Look at yourself in the mirror! Who do you think you are?”
“Who let this man in here?”

I wonder how story will roll if marriage is really successful 😅🤔
