Chapter 73: Let’s Find Bai Luobing:

There was no doubt that after Chen Lang said those words, he was immediately met with a flying folder from Xiao Mingyue and promptly thrown out of the office.

Inside, Xiao Mingyue leaned back in her chair, feeling a bit exhausted.

Rationally analyzing what Chen Lang had said, she naturally didn’t believe a single word.

The key issue was that she knew Cheng Jinjin’s strength—someone even ten strong men couldn’t get close to.

How could Chen Lang have pinned her down in a chair?

If Cheng Jinjin hadn’t wanted it to happen, Chen Lang wouldn’t have been able to get anywhere near her. Yet, she hadn’t resisted.

This, along with what was revealed in the diary, made it clear that there were secrets between Chen Lang and Cheng Jinjin that others didn’t know about.

And as for what Chen Lang had said, it was obviously a deliberate attempt to push her away.

She sighed, feeling mentally drained. If he didn’t want to live a proper life, then why had he married her in the first place?

Chen Lang’s mind was just too complicated.

Back at the Imperial Palace Villa, after returning from the company, Chen Lang lay on the bed and started writing his diary.

[The diamond slap-in-the-face plot is finally over.]

[Something feels off. If the plot had collapsed, the protagonist still showed up at the banquet, and everything played out correctly.]

[But if it hasn’t collapsed, the progress is still way behind the original storyline.]

[Forget it, it doesn’t matter.]

[Thinking too much about it is useless. Being a villain should be about enjoying life.]

[As long as the protagonist is still breathing and hasn’t completely fallen apart, minor plot deviations aren’t a big deal.]

[If I calculate the timeline correctly, the next stage of the protagonist’s journey is about to begin.]

[Right now, Ye Chen is working as a security guard and just stirring up small conflicts. Soon, he will step into the corporate world, helping Xiao Mingyue and Jiang Mengyao solve company problems.]

[This will also serve as an indirect way for him to build his own power.]

After finishing, Chen Lang clicked Upload.

[Ding! The diary has been successfully uploaded! Congratulations, Host, you have received—]

[Special Skill: Mastery of Physical Combat!]

[Note: With this ability, the host has mastered advanced fighting techniques, including boxing, jiu-jitsu, karate, and Muay Thai, reaching the highest level of proficiency! This skill allows the host to possess overwhelming combat strength without relying on the Chiyou War Classic!]

Chen Lang pouted.

It sounded impressive, but unfortunately, it was completely useless.

He was the eldest young master of the Chen family. If he ever needed to fight, that was what bodyguards were for.

Why would he need to do it himself?

However, there was one possible way he could use this skill.

Suddenly, an idea came to him.

He raised his head and shouted upstairs, “Chen Shihan! Come down and get flattened!”

Since he needed an excuse to practice jiu-jitsu, he might as well use this skill to properly teach his annoying sister a lesson.

That way, she’d stop treating him like a human punching bag in the future.

In the upstairs bedroom, Chen Shihan sat at her desk, drawing a relationship diagram on a sheet of white paper.

In the center of the diagram was Chen Lang’s name.

Surrounding it were the names of Jiang Mengyao, Cheng Jinjin, and Tang Xiaofu, each marked with the word danger.

Chen Shihan analyzed the situation.

Based on Chen Lang’s diary, these women’s attitudes toward him had long deviated from the original plot.

Even though she hadn’t interacted with them personally, she knew they were all potential threats.

However, the most concerning name—drawn in a huge circle—was Xiao Mingyue’s.

Next to it, written in bold red ink, were the words EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

Between Xiao Mingyue and Chen Lang’s circles, an arrow connected them, with the words Husband and Wife written on it.

Without a doubt, the greatest threat right now came from Xiao Mingyue.

From the moment Chen Shihan occupied Xiao Mingyue’s bedroom, she had been prepared for an all-out war with her as a sister-in-law.

Yet, despite all that, Xiao Mingyue hadn’t even tried to take action.

Chen Shihan tilted her head, resting her chin on her desk as she absentmindedly spun her pen in circles.

Her eyes drifted to the stack of books in the corner—

“Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” “Warring States Strategy,” “Sun Tzu’s Art of War,” “Guiguzi’s Wolf Tactics.”

Lately, aside from training jiu-jitsu with Chen Lang, she had been studying military strategy!

After days of research, she had finally devised a clear tactical plan.

The first step?

Break Xiao Mingyue’s monopoly over Chen Lang.

And the best way to do that?

Completely erase the marriage tying them together!

Just like in The Three Kingdoms, only when the Han Dynasty collapses can the warlords compete for power. Likewise, only if Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue separate will others have a chance. The key is to act as a strategist, forming alliances with different heroines to create chaos and turn them against each other.

Since she appears the least threatening, yet holds the greatest advantage, Chen Shihan realized she could manipulate the situation from the shadows. While the other “warlords” fight over Chen Lang, she would quietly make her move—strike from the shadows and take him for herself.

Just as she was getting lost in thought, Chen Lang’s arrogant voice rang out from downstairs.

“Chen Shihan! Get down here and get flattened!”

She clicked the pen cap back into place, got up, and walked downstairs in her slippers. “Alright, alright! What’s with all the yelling?”

In the training room on the first floor, Chen Lang and Chen Shihan faced each other in their martial arts uniforms, kneeling on the mat.

Once the training session began, Chen Lang quickly realized just how powerful his new Mastery of Physical Combat skill was. Every jiu-jitsu technique felt like second nature, as if he had spent years mastering them.

In no time, he maneuvered behind Chen Shihan and locked her in a rear-naked choke.

“Haha! Admit defeat already! Your brother is not the same as before!”

“From now on, when you see your dear big brother at home, you better show respect—greet me properly and maybe even bow a little. You understand, don’t you? Hahaha—hey, hey, hey!”

Chen Lang suddenly yelped and pulled his arm back like he had been electrocuted. He looked down to find a neat row of bite marks on his forearm.

“Chen Shihan! Are you a dog?! Why are you biting me?!”

Chen Shihan wiped the corner of her mouth and snorted. “Hmph! Serves you right for talking nonsense!”

…

(At the Bai family estate)

Bai Luobing had not attended Mrs. Xiao’s birthday banquet due to the tense relationship between her and the Xiao family. However, someone had sent her a video of the event.

“Nima’s, where are my diamonds?!”

The video captured Ye Chen’s humiliated, dumbfounded face, followed by the mocking laughter of the guests.

“Laughing to death, does he seriously still believe he gave away a real diamond?”

“How can someone so young have such a severe mental condition…”

Bai Luobing’s face darkened.

The video ended with Ye Chen and the Sun family being thrown out of the banquet. She switched off her phone in frustration.

Trash.

Is this really the so-called protagonist? He couldn’t even tell what was in his own garbage bag?!

Originally, after reading Chen Lang’s diary and realizing the real Red Whale Heart was with Ye Chen, she had called Sun Zhentian on behalf of the Bai family to pressure him.

Her goal had been simple: use Ye Chen’s supposed protagonist aura to create a scandal at the banquet, forcing a rift between Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue.

But the plan had backfired spectacularly.

Ye Chen’s protagonist halo was completely broken!

With this level of failure, how could Xiao Mingyue possibly be impressed and fall for Ye Chen?

Bai Luobing exhaled, forcing herself to calm down.

With Chen Lang around, everything felt like a ticking time bomb. His knowledge of future events made all her careful planning feel useless.

She had to find a way to separate him from Xiao Mingyue—no matter what.

What she didn’t know was that, at this very moment, Chen Shihan was thinking the exact same thing.

…

For several days, Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue remained in a cold war due to the incident with Cheng Jinjin.

Without any pressing plot developments, Chen Lang lived comfortably. He spent his time watching movies with Chen Shihan, practicing jiu-jitsu, and experimenting with different recipes. Life was good.

Until this morning.

Chen Lang showed up at Xiao Mingyue’s office with a bouquet of flowers in hand.

“Mingyue, I was wrong. I was really wrong. Please forgive me!”

“You have no idea how hard these past few days have been for me. Mingyue, I can’t sleep at night! Every time I close my eyes, all I see is you!”

“And when I wake up in the morning, realizing you’re not by my side, the pain is unbearable!”

“The longing haunts me every moment. I can’t even eat properly! I’ve lost so much weight that my neighbor’s dog now barks at me like I’m a complete stranger!”

“Mingyue, let’s make up! These past few days have made me realize—I can’t live without you! I need you, Mingyue!”

Xiao Mingyue, sitting in her chair, crossed her arms as she observed Chen Lang dramatically clutching the bouquet, tears and snot running down his face.

If she didn’t know better, she would have thought he was pouring out his true feelings.

But something felt off.

This didn’t sound like the kind of thing Chen Lang would say.

Still, the fact that he was willing to end the cold war and take the first step toward reconciliation was a good thing.

Xiao Mingyue reached out, took the rose, and smiled. “Alright, I’ll forgive you this time. But don’t let it happen again!”

“Yes!”

Chen Lang immediately ran behind her and eagerly started massaging her shoulders.

As he did, he casually glanced at the documents on her desk.

“Shopping mall acquisition… bidding proposal? What’s this, Mingyue?”

Xiao Mingyue sighed and explained the situation.

A prime commercial property was up for sale, and she intended to acquire it. However, she was facing strong competition in the bidding process.

Chen Lang instantly frowned. “Who’s the fool that dares to compete with my wife for land?”

The phrase my wife made Xiao Mingyue’s cheeks flush slightly, but she quickly regained her composure.

“It’s an old rival—Bai Luobing.”

Xiao Mingyue massaged her temples, looking troubled. “If Bai Luobing is involved, the price will likely double.”

Chen Lang immediately became furious.

“That little girl dares to snatch something my wife wants?! Has she lost her mind?!”

He turned to Xiao Mingyue, resting his hands on her shoulders, his eyes shining with determination.

“Let me handle this. I want to make it up to you, so leave it to your husband!”

“Have you forgotten who I am? I’m the young master of the Chen family!”

“Do you think it’ll be difficult for me to make the Bai family back off from this deal?”

Xiao Mingyue hesitated. “But… is that really appropriate?”

She had never considered asking Chen Lang to leverage the Chen family’s influence.

“What’s inappropriate about it?”

“Your husband isn’t lacking in any aspect, and his persuasion skills are top-notch!”

“Trust me—three words, and Bai Luobing will back off immediately!”

Xiao Mingyue blinked. “What three words?”

“I! Surname! Chen!! The Chen from the capital!”

“No time to waste! I’m going to find Bai Luobing right now!”

“Wait for my good news!”

With that, Chen Lang dashed out of the office, as if he were actually about to confront Bai Luobing head-on.
