Chapter 99: Ye Chen’s Sports Car Is Gone

The crowd exploded in disbelief.

“Ten million?! A hundred times a hundred thousand?”

“You’re joking, right?”

“There’s no way a bicycle could be that expensive!”

Yet, the members of the cycling club all nodded with solemn expressions, clearly convinced.

Xiao Hei, who had just bent the rim, stood frozen in place, like a game character suddenly disconnected.

Ye Chen, on the other hand, stubbornly refused to accept it. “This thing? Just look at the color—it’s plain and boring! Chen Lang, are you seriously telling me that this ordinary-looking bike is worth ten million? Stop bluffing!”

The cycling club president squatted down again and caressed the frame with awe, a reverent glow in his eyes. “As the saying goes, ‘a great sword has no edge’—true mastery hides its brilliance. This isn’t a bicycle. It’s a masterpiece of pure craftsmanship!”

Ye Chen scoffed, still trying to rationalize. “Are the wheels made of gold? Are the handlebars encrusted with diamonds? What makes it cost that much?!”

The president looked up, offended. “Gold? You underestimate it. This bike is crafted from materials rarer and stronger than gold—used in aerospace engineering. And it was handmade by top-level artisans. They only make a handful of these each year!”

Even Ye Chen, like the rest of the crowd, started to doubt himself as he watched the excitement in the cycling club’s eyes and the calm, composed look on Chen Lang’s face.

He swallowed hard and asked the president, “So how much… would just the rim cost me?”

The president shook his head. “That… we honestly don’t know.”

Then he completely ignored Ye Chen and turned his attention to Chen Lang, eyes glowing. “I never expected Young Master Chen to be a fellow cycling enthusiast!”

The crowd found this surprising too. After all, there was no mention online about Chen Lang loving bicycles.

Chen Lang gave a half-hearted laugh. “It’s nothing. I just got interested in it a couple of days ago.”

But the president looked as if he had seen through everything. “You’re too modest, Young Master Chen! I know for a fact that this model requires a one-month preorder. If you only started riding recently, how would you already have this?”

Chen Lang rubbed his chin. “No need to wait a month. I offered them double the price, and they delivered it in a few days. Maybe the craftsmen you mentioned worked overtime.”

The president’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Double the price?!”

The crowd was stunned.

Double? That meant more than five million just for a rush order?

Ye Chen’s 3-million-yuan sports car suddenly felt like a joke in comparison.

The president no longer dared to touch the bike casually. Instead, he studied every inch of it with his eyes, as though trying to engrave it into his memory. His obsession with bikes was clear.

When he noticed the rear seat, he frowned. “Young Master Chen, why does your bike have a rear seat? This brand doesn’t come with one, does it?”

Ye Chen jumped at the opportunity like grabbing a lifeline. “I knew it! You all got it wrong! It just looks like that brand! There’s no way a premium bike would have a back seat! It’s all fake!”

Facing the doubtful murmurs of the crowd, Chen Lang remained calm.

“I paid extra to have the designer install it. I needed it to carry someone.”

He glanced toward the spot where he had once carried Chen Shihan.

The crowd: “…”

Everyone fell silent.

Adding double the price just to install a back seat?

This was the logic of the rich—completely incomprehensible to ordinary people.

For a moment, everyone was struck with the same realization: Chen Lang looked so close, but he was actually from a completely different world.

Not long after, Butler Xiao Zhang arrived at the scene.

Leading the way was a Rolls-Royce, followed by Chen Lang’s signature supercar, and a police car bringing up the rear.

The police began inspecting the scene and the damaged bicycle.

Even they were a little stunned. It was their first time handling such a unique case—but they followed protocol and began by assessing the value of the damage.

Chen Lang showed them the official receipt for the bike.

The sheer number of zeroes made the crowd dizzy.

To confirm the authenticity, the president helped pull up the official website. Sure enough, Chen Lang’s name was proudly listed among the latest elite customers.

The verdict: the bike was indeed worth more than ten million yuan. With the express order fee and custom rear seat, Chen Lang had paid nearly double.

Everyone was stunned. They had just witnessed a ten-million-yuan bike with a bent tire. What a sight!

Next came the compensation.

After careful review by police and pricing experts, a compensation amount was finalized: three million yuan.

Ye Chen and Xiao Hei stared at each other in silence.

And on the ground in front of them…

Those same three red hundred-yuan notes Ye Chen had thrown earlier were still lying there.

Now, they looked like a cruel joke—mocking him.

Paying 300 yuan? You’d need to tack on four more zeroes!

Xiao Hei stared at the money on the ground, completely blank, like his soul had left his body.

Ye Chen had no choice but to open his banking app and prepare to transfer the funds to Chen Lang.

But staring at the digits on the screen, he just couldn’t bring himself to type in the password.

Mainly because…

Satan’s funds were running dry.

The 1.9-billion-yuan world-famous painting he bought earlier had already drained his resources.

Add to that the recent purchase of the sports car, the luxury villa, and all the expensive gifts he had bought under Pandan’s “coquettish attacks”…

His money had been flowing out like water. Things were tight now.

So Ye Chen made a decision.

He’d default.

“…I don’t have that much on me right now. I’ll… pay it back later…”

Ye Chen thought maybe if he delayed long enough, Chen Lang wouldn’t bother chasing him for the money. After all, three million wasn’t a big deal to someone like Chen Lang… maybe he’d just let it slide.

But suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted, “Three million? Wasn’t that the price Ye Chen said his sports car cost?”

“Yeah! I remember he said it more than once—three million, fully loaded!”

“And he said it’s only driven ten kilometers!”

The police officers exchanged glances. Their eyes lit up with realization.

Since the value of Chen Lang’s bicycle had been verified and compensation needed to be paid, why not just take Ye Chen’s sports car right now? It would save a ton of trouble later.

After all, evaluating a common brand sports car was far easier than dealing with a custom luxury bicycle.

A few quick checks and nods from the police confirmed the estimated value: around three million.

They immediately asked Ye Chen to hand over the sports car as compensation.

Ye Chen and Xiao Hei stood silently to the side, completely helpless.

Within moments, the contract was drafted and signed. The ownership of Ye Chen’s beloved sports car officially transferred to Chen Lang.

With help from the cycling club members, Chen Lang’s damaged bicycle was carefully strapped to the roof of the Rolls-Royce. Butler Xiao Zhang would personally take it for repairs.

Chen Lang casually walked over and gave Ye Chen’s car a once-over, checking it from every angle. Then he looked at Ye Chen and asked, “Does this car have the adaptive steering package?”

That feature only came with the top-tier versions. Ye Chen scratched his head and shook it awkwardly.

Chen Lang frowned and asked about a few more high-end features—each one exclusive to elite models.

Ye Chen continued shaking his head, more embarrassed each time. Some of the features, he hadn’t even heard of before.

Chen Lang curled his lips in disdain. “This piece of junk doesn’t deserve a spot in my garage.”

Then he turned to Xiao Zhang and said, “Find someone to sell this thing. No point keeping it. It’s just taking up space.”

The crowd erupted in shock. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

So this was the “three million full-match” Ye Chen bragged about nonstop? And now it was being discarded like trash?

While Ye Chen couldn’t even keep his car, Chen Lang simply slid into his personal supercar.

He turned to Tang Xiaofu and opened the door for her.

When the crowd saw what car Chen Lang actually drove, they understood why he called Ye Chen’s car garbage.

No comparison.

From the sleek design to the refined interior, from the engine’s roar to the luxurious feel—Chen Lang’s supercar was on a whole other level.

It made Ye Chen’s “full match” sports car look like a toy.

As Tang Xiaofu stepped into the passenger seat, Chen Lang pressed the accelerator. The engine growled, and the supercar shot off like lightning.

Butler Xiao Zhang stayed behind for a moment to drive off with Ye Chen’s sports car, followed by the Rolls-Royce and the police.

Once the show was over, the crowd slowly dispersed.

Ye Chen and Xiao Hei stood there, staring at each other in silence.

After a long moment, once everyone had left, Ye Chen finally bent down and picked up the three red hundred-yuan notes he had thrown earlier.

He stuffed them back into his wallet. “Even mosquito meat is still meat. Gotta save what you can.”

As they made their way toward the school gate, Ye Chen suddenly turned and smacked Xiao Hei on the neck with a loud pop.

“You wanted to copy my moves, huh?!”

He started shouting, “Who told you to act on your own, huh?!”

“You think I didn’t think of bending his bike? Of course I did! But why didn’t I do it?!”

“Because I’ve fought with Chen Lang too many times! I know he’s slippery and sneaky—if you’re not careful, he’ll trap you every time!”

He smacked Xiao Hei twice more, fuming.

“Great job! Now the car’s gone! What are we supposed to do?!”

“Because of your stupidity!”

“That car was brand new! Three million! Fully loaded! And now—gone!!”

He shoved all the blame onto Xiao Hei.

Xiao Hei kept his head down and said nothing. He couldn’t deny it. He knew this was all his fault.

As they passed the school gate, the same security guard from earlier stepped out of his booth and looked at them with a curious grin.

He delivered the final blow to Ye Chen’s ego with a smirk, “Hey, Brother Ye, didn’t you drive in earlier? Why are you walking out now?”

“Where’s your car, Brother Ye?”

Ye Chen and Xiao Hei’s faces turned pale. They said nothing.

Heads down, they walked away in silence.

The security guard blinked, puzzled by the scene… and then chuckled.
