Villain Subdues the Toxic Villainess At the Start - Chapter 80:
Chapter 80: Shen Weiwei’s Husband:
Lu Yu’s decision to approach Shen Weiwei wasn’t solely motivated by her appearance, though he couldn’t deny she was attractive. His real objective was strategic—he suspected her husband was the protagonist.
Based on the patterns he recognized from countless novels and Shen Weiwei’s demeanor, Lu Yu believed this connection would give him an edge. After all, knowing your enemy was the key to victory.
Shen Weiwei, on the other hand, saw Lu Yu as a potential savior. She was desperate for a stable job, especially after nearly losing hers earlier. Lu Yu’s promise to help her was a glimmer of hope she couldn’t afford to ignore.
“If I owe him a favor, I’ll find a way to repay it in the future,” Shen Weiwei thought. She decided to explain her work situation to him in detail.
Her boss, Huang Shengli, had been using his authority to coerce her into compromising situations.
Either she complied with his inappropriate demands, or she faced termination—a dilemma that left her cornered.
“What? Fired just because you wouldn’t have dinner with him? That’s outrageous!” Li Xiaorou exclaimed, slamming the table in anger.
Her indignation contrasted sharply with Zhou Yuwen’s awkward expression—clearly, he was no stranger to similar behavior.
Li Xiaorou, with her strong sense of justice, insisted that Lu Yu intervene. Initially, Lu Yu felt it unnecessary. Workplace harassment was, unfortunately, all too common. A simple call to Qin Sisi’s father, the company’s chairman, could resolve the issue.
But Li Xiaorou’s relentless pleas finally wore him down. Reluctantly, Lu Yu agreed to confront Huang Shengli, bringing both Li Xiaorou and Shen Weiwei along.
…
They barged into Huang Shengli’s private room, where Li Xiaorou immediately took the lead.
“Which one of you is Huang Shengli?” she demanded, hands on her hips and fire in her eyes.
Her small stature, pigtails, and childlike voice made her attempts at intimidation comical.
“Who are you?” Huang Shengli asked gruffly, his mood already soured after Shen Weiwei’s earlier departure.
“I’m your worst nightmare,” Li Xiaorou retorted with exaggerated confidence.
The room erupted into laughter.
“Little girl, mind your words.”“Is she drunk?”“Who brought this kid in here?”
Ignoring the mocking comments, Li Xiaorou turned her glare to Huang Shengli. “Do you think being the general manager makes you untouchable?”
Huang Shengli smirked. “And who’s going to touch me? You?”
“I’m telling you, you’re not the general manager anymore!” Li Xiaorou declared.
Her bold statement only fueled the ridicule.
“Is she out of her mind?”“Does she think she’s the chairman’s daughter?”
Frustrated but undeterred, Li Xiaorou looked to Lu Yu for backup. With a sigh, Lu Yu pulled out his phone and called Qin Sisi.
“Sisi, are you busy?” he asked casually.
“Just thinking about you,” she teased.
“Ahem, let’s focus,” Lu Yu said, steering the conversation. “Does your dad’s company have a manager named Huang Shengli at the branch on XX Road?”
After a brief pause, Qin Sisi confirmed. “Yes, why?”
Lu Yu explained the situation, suggesting they investigate whether Huang Shengli had been exploiting his position for personal gain.
Moments later, Huang Shengli’s phone rang.
When he answered and realized it was the chairman himself, his face turned pale.
As the call ended, the phone slipped from his trembling hands and clattered to the floor.
It was official—he’d been fired.
Li Xiaorou cheered, thrilled by the outcome, while Lu Yu found the entire ordeal tedious.
“Slapping some corrupt manager in the face? That’s protagonist-level theatrics, not my style.” He thought, finding no satisfaction in the event.
For Lu Yu, the firing of Huang Shengli was a minor episode, quickly forgotten.
…
(Back in the VIP room)
He encouraged Shen Weiwei to eat something before they left the hotel together.
The dinner concluded on a high note for everyone:
Zhou Yuwen and the others grew closer to Lu Yu.
Wei Ziling received valuable advice.
Li Xiaorou savored her victory over Huang Shengli.
Shen Weiwei no longer had to fear workplace harassment.
And Lu Yu? He not only found someone to help deal with Lin Yi but also met another key character. Everything seemed perfect.
That was until Lu Yu encountered Shen Weiwei’s husband.
…
As the group dispersed, with the second-generation elites driving their companions home, Lu Yu planned to drop Shen Weiwei off. He hadn’t drunk much, and his bodyguards weren’t with him that day, so he decided to drive.
Just as he was about to leave, a man appeared out of nowhere, hands in his pockets, walking with a slouched posture.
“Well, well. So this is why you’re out late. Hooking up with some pretty boy?” the man sneered.
The man was Su Hao, 26 years old. Thin, unkempt, and wearing cheap, wrinkled clothes, he reeked of alcohol. His greasy, messy hair looked like it hadn’t been washed in days.
Lu Yu immediately felt something was off. This man didn’t match the typical image of a protagonist. Even stranger, the system provided no information about him.
Isn’t the system supposed to recognize the protagonist instantly? Could Su Hao not be the protagonist? Lu Yu wondered, his mind racing.
Shen Weiwei clenched her fists, biting her lip in frustration. “Su Hao, what are you doing here?”
“None of your business,” he snapped, turning his attention to Lu Yu.
“Hey, kid, did you know she’s married? She’s my wife,” Su Hao said, his tone dripping with hostility.
“I had an idea,” Lu Yu replied calmly.
“And you still dared to take her out for dinner? Are you looking for a fight?” Su Hao growled, stepping forward aggressively.
“Stop it, Su Hao!” Shen Weiwei interjected. “Young Master Lu has nothing to do with this!”
“Oh, defending your little lover already? Shen Weiwei, you’re unbelievable!” Su Hao shouted, his anger intensifying.
“It’s not what you think!” Shen Weiwei retorted, her voice trembling with frustration. “If I wanted to be with someone else, I wouldn’t have waited this long!”
Su Hao sneered. “Finally speaking your mind, huh? You’re really something, Shen Weiwei.”
“Su Hao, you’re drunk and ridiculous!” she snapped.
Unfazed, Su Hao extended his hand toward her.
“What do you want now?” Shen Weiwei asked, her voice tinged with anger.
“Give me 10,000 yuan. Then you can do whatever you want.” Su Hao demanded.
Lu Yu watched the scene unfold, his expression unreadable.
