Chapter 89: Su Qingyue Meets Lin Yi:

“Old Lu, your son is truly impressive!”

“I went to discuss a business deal that day, and when I was about to cross a bridge over the river, I suddenly remembered your son warning me to always prioritize my safety. If not for that reminder, I might’ve crossed that bridge and gotten swept away midway!”

“Thinking about it now, it’s a good thing I didn’t go. I could’ve died.”

After dismissing Song Siyao, Lu Yu shifted his attention back to Su Hao.

During this period, thanks to the Feng Shui formation arranged by Lu Yu, Lu Mingyuan’s business had been booming.

“Haha!”

As he listened to Zhou Dexuan’s voice on the phone, Lu Mingyuan raised his eyebrows and smiled. “Now you see how capable my son is, Old Zhou?”

“I do, I do,” Zhou laughed. “I heard my son and yours have been getting along lately. Our families should visit more often in the future.”

“Of course, of course!”

After hanging up, Lu Mingyuan couldn’t stop grinning. He had always been well-known, but nothing like the kind of attention he was getting now.

Business tycoons from all walks of life—no matter how unrelated their fields were—had begun seeking friendships with him.

The feeling was simply exhilarating.

Of course, as someone who had benefited from Feng Shui himself, Lu Mingyuan also knew about Chen Bansheng’s death.

He had asked Lu Yu once, directly, if he had killed Chen Bansheng.

Lu Yu replied casually, “I was just about to do it, but he committed suicide first.”

Lu Mingyuan believed him without question.

After all, even the police had confirmed it—Chen Bansheng had taken his own life.

Why would he doubt his own son?

Lately, Lu Yu hadn’t done much besides targeting Su Hao.

With Chen Bansheng gone, there was no Feng Shui master left in Rongcheng more skilled than Lu Yu.

Many wealthy people who had their Feng Shui altered by Chen Bansheng came to Lu Yu, begging him to undo the changes.

Lu Yu, of course, happily obliged.

With excellent acting skills and the confidence of a seasoned professional, he easily convinced them.

He would move around the arrangements previously made by Chen Bansheng—then shift the new setup again.

It didn’t matter what he did. In the eyes of these rich people, Lu Yu was superior to Chen Bansheng.

They didn’t understand Feng Shui anyway.

Whatever Lu Yu said—they believed it.

If there was anyone who doubted him, it was Ye Qianrou.

She was the only one who knew how terrifying Lu Yu truly was.

Not only did he surpass Chen Bansheng in Feng Shui, but his skills in infiltration and manipulation were even more frightening.

Add to that the suspicious timing of Chen Bansheng’s death…

Wasn’t it possible that Lu Yu had secretly altered those Feng Shui layouts just to destroy Chen Bansheng?

Wasn’t it also possible that the real villain was Lu Yu himself?

Whether others believed it or not, Ye Qianrou certainly did.

But she wouldn’t say a word.

She had no evidence—and more importantly, Lu Yu held something over her.

She wasn’t his match at all.

To expose him would be suicidal.

Ye Qianrou wasn’t foolish. She wouldn’t do something so reckless.

However, just because she didn’t go looking for trouble didn’t mean trouble wouldn’t come to her.

A few days after Lu Yu slept with Shen Weiwei, on a bright sunny afternoon, Ye Qianrou was lounging on the sofa watching TV, trying to figure out the source of Lu Yu’s power.

At that moment, her son Sun Xiuping came home.

He brought two friends.

One of them was Wu Kai, whom she already knew.

The other, however, was a stranger.

He was about 178 cm tall, dressed casually, with sharp and handsome features.

“Mom, this is my friend Lin Yi.”

“Alright, have a seat.”

Ye Qianrou didn’t pay much attention. She simply nodded to Lin Yi.

But Lin Yi froze the moment he saw her.

What the hell?

This woman is Sun Xiuping’s mother?

She looked stunning.

Even though Lin Yi was poor, he was highly capable.

A skilled doctor with a talent for curing difficult illnesses, he was also the protagonist of his own story—one whose fate always seemed tangled.

He didn’t pay attention to ordinary women.

In terms of pure looks, Ye Qianrou wasn’t more beautiful than Su Qingyue—at best, she was on par with Song Siyao.

But she had something those younger women didn’t: maturity, charm, and an irresistible allure.

The moment Lin Yi saw her, a bold thought entered his mind.

He wanted this woman.

Meanwhile, Sun Xiuping had no idea that the friend he brought home might end up trying to become his stepfather.

After grabbing a few things from his room, he turned to his mother.

“Mom, I’m heading out with them tonight. I might not come back.”

“Alright, stay safe,” Ye Qianrou replied casually.

Sun Xiuping was twenty years old. It wasn’t unusual for him to spend the night out, and she didn’t feel the need to interfere.

Ye Qianrou had offended quite a few people in the past, so reminding Sun Xiuping to stay safe had become second nature to her.

Sun Xiuping simply nodded, not thinking much of it.

He then drove off in a Bentley with Lin Yi and Wu Kai, heading out from the villa.

Inside the car, Lin Yi couldn’t hold back his curiosity. Watching Sun Xiuping focus on driving, he finally asked,

“Bro… that was your mom just now?”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“She looks… really young.”

“Oh, everyone says that.”

Lin Yi glanced at Sun Xiuping, then the image of Ye Qianrou flashed in his mind. He shook his head helplessly.

That woman didn’t look like she had a grown son at all.

If she really was Sun Xiuping’s mother, then it could only mean one thing—her body had aged incredibly well.

Lin Yi’s thoughts drifted as he began wondering how he might win over Sun Xiuping’s mother.

Just then, his phone rang.

Jingle bell!

Caller ID: Su Qingyue.

“Heeey, wife! Miss me?” Lin Yi answered with a grin, voice full of mischief.

This kind of flirty attitude was typical of his protagonist character—thinking it made him charming, even though it didn’t.

Su Qingyue frowned slightly when she heard the word “wife,” but didn’t argue about it.

“Where are you right now?” she asked.

“I’m on Nanxing Road. What’s up?”

“Come to Shangpin Café. I’m waiting for you.”

With that, she hung up.

Lin Yi was curious about why Su Qingyue suddenly wanted to meet him. Still, he didn’t overthink it. After all, she was his fiancée.

He told Sun Xiuping and Wu Kai to wait for him at the club and headed to Shangpin Café by himself.

In the private room of Shangpin Café, Su Qingyue sat alone.

She stared at the familiar setting, her gaze cold. This was the place where she once felt completely humiliated.

Not long after, Lin Yi arrived, and the two sat across from each other.

Same spot, different atmosphere.

There was a fruit platter and two cappuccinos on the table.

“Hehe, wife! You looking for me?” Lin Yi asked with a cheeky grin.

“Don’t call me that. Our relationship isn’t that close,” Su Qingyue replied calmly.

Having learned her lesson in her past life, Su Qingyue—who was now essentially Bai Qingzhi—was no longer the type to make decisions lightly.

Lin Yi chuckled. “Alright, alright. You’re right. So, why’d you ask to see me?”

“I heard from my grandfather that you’re pretty capable?”

“Of course!” Lin Yi said proudly. “Your husband here knows astronomy, geography, and his medical skills are top-notch!”

“How about it? Starting to admire me?”

“Medical skills? That’s it?” Su Qingyue frowned.

She couldn’t understand why the daughter of the richest man would be engaged to a doctor. And to call medical skills a talent?

Compared to someone like Lu Yu, they weren’t even on the same level.

Lin Yi noticed her reaction and immediately panicked a little.

“I know more than just medicine. I’m also good at things like fighting and using hidden weapons. But, you know, those are a bit too rough for a girl like you…”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but he assumed Su Qingyue understood what he meant.

“Fighting and hidden weapons?” Su Qingyue repeated. “I can understand the fighting part, but hidden weapons? Like the ones in kung fu movies?”

“More or less.”

“Can you… show me?”

“Huh?”

Lin Yi was caught off guard. He hadn’t expected Su Qingyue to make that kind of request.

But since she asked, how could he pass up a chance to impress her?

“Of course!” Lin Yi smiled confidently.

He picked up a toothpick from the fruit bowl on the table, twirled it between his fingers, and flicked it toward the wall beside them.

Whoosh!

Thud!

The toothpick shot out like an arrow and embedded itself firmly in the wall.
