Chapter 46: Sincere Enough?:

[At least in the First Realm, you can’t take action against them. And to be safe, you should wait to ascend until after they do.]

The system reported after a quick search, sighing.

Gu Feng nodded.

It wasn’t a big deal. The male and female leads were like insects to him; they didn’t matter. His real enemy was the mutated Heavenly Dao. If he didn’t eliminate it, he’d never get back. This world might be real, but as long as his fate wasn’t in his own hands, he couldn’t feel truly secure.

The system had no idea that Gu Feng’s concerns went far beyond the protagonists; he was focused on the mysterious system and the Master God behind it.

He said, “I’ll be heading to another First Realm soon. System, do some research and find which one has the highest likelihood of gaining fortune.”

[Understood, Host.] The system replied, initiating its search.

The world was simple in its setup. There were sixty-four First Realms, thirty-six Second Realms, and so on, up to the Seventh Realm, which was the Heavenly Realm. The realms were categorized based on their density of spiritual Qi. The First Realm could only produce cultivators up to the Earth Immortal Realm, while higher realms had more advanced training environments. High-level cultivators in lower realms had to rely on spirit stones to restore their power.

Currently, Gu Feng’s resources from the Sixth Realm were more than sufficient, and the First Realm posed no threat to him. Even so, he needed the system’s advice to identify the most promising realm to visit next.

[Host, the Wind Mirage Realm has a Child of Luck. That would be an ideal destination.] The system reported.

Gu Feng nodded. Just as he finalized his decision, Xiao Liu burst into the room.

“The evil woman is here!” she announced, sniffing indignantly and glaring at him. Behind her were Bai Yuxiao and Fang Wenzheng.

“I’ve already taken care of her. There’s nothing to worry about.” Gu Feng reassured her, ruffling her hair. Then, he turned to his two junior disciples.

“What’s going on?” he asked.

The two exchanged glances before Bai Yuxiao spoke, “Master said that the ancestral master has emerged from seclusion and wants to meet you.”

“Understood,” Gu Feng replied, gently patting Xiao Liu . “Stay here and be good. You two, keep an eye on her.”

“Yes, senior brother!” they responded.

Gu Feng’s black robe trailed behind him as he left. The old master of the Zhengyuan Sect couldn’t have picked a better time to come out of seclusion.

Hearing his disciple’s report, Liu Zonglin looked ready to tear out his beard.

“Liu Fengqing, you reckless disciple! Why didn’t you inform me when you took in this Gu Feng? You know nothing about him, yet you brought him into the sect. I can’t believe this!” Having just emerged from his retreat, Liu Zonglin had heard about everything Gu Feng had done.

Could an ordinary disciple really reach the Nascent Soul Realm in just three years? Or kill an Earth Immortal Realm expert at will? No amount of talent could explain it. He called Liu Fengqing to learn the truth and was shocked to discover that his disciple had accepted Gu Feng under pressure.

“Is the old master dissatisfied with me?” came a voice from outside. A figure clad in black robes stepped into the hall. Gu Feng’s footsteps echoed as he entered.

Liu Zonglin’s entire body tensed as he sprang to his feet. “You…you are Gu Feng?”

He couldn’t see through him. This young man’s cultivation was above the Earth Immortal Realm.

“Yes, Grandmaster. I heard you wanted to see me.”

“N-no, not at all,” Liu Zonglin stammered, quickly waving his hands. His disciple’s low-level cultivation probably didn’t reveal much, but Liu Zonglin could see that Gu Feng was like a blazing sun, containing unimaginable power.

“May I ask, were you originally from a realm above the Third Realm?” Liu Zonglin asked, trembling.

“Grandmaster, there’s no need for that,” Gu Feng said, lifting him back up. “Now that I’ve joined the Zhengyuan Sect, I am its disciple. If you’re worried, I can assure you that no one in the higher realms knows of my existence, and I’ve already sworn an inner demon oath with Master.”

The mention of an inner demon oath caught Liu Zonglin’s attention. He looked to Liu Fengqing for confirmation, and his disciple nodded.

“It’s true!” Liu Fengqing said.

Liu Zonglin was left speechless, feeling both confused and cautious. What could someone like Gu Feng want from their small sect?

“Master, many of the Zhengyuan Sect’s disciples have ascended to the Second Realm, haven’t they?” Gu Feng asked, smiling. “Wouldn’t it be nice if one day the sect held significant power in other realms as well?”

Liu Zonglin remained silent, lost in thought. But when Gu Feng produced a deep red spirit fruit, his face changed.

“What’s the meaning of this?” he asked, stunned.

Gu Feng smiled. “Sincerity. I may not have had a master before, but now that I’m a part of the Zhengyuan Sect, I intend to show my loyalty. So, Grandmaster, do you think this spirit fruit is enough proof of my sincerity?”
