“Alright, then,” Old Zhang agreed, grinning as he adjusted Zhang Sanyan’s clothing. He was no longer in patched-up rags but in proper robes that stayed warm in the winter and cool in the summer, repelling insects and keeping him dry. Gu Feng had taken them out from his own collection.

“Once you leave with your master, listen to him in all things. Don’t ever talk back, you hear?”

Zhang Sanyan nodded earnestly.

Once the system had sent word to the Snow Clan, a black portal appeared next to Gu Feng in short order.

Meanwhile, at the Zhengyuan Sect, the sky darkened as thick, stormy clouds gathered. Thunder crackled through the clouds, illuminating the mountains.

All eyes were fixed on the sect’s main temple. There, at the highest peak, Liu Zhonglin stood, gripping his sword tightly, ready for the lightning strike.

One by one, he parried ten bolts of lightning. When the dark clouds above rolled once more, a flash of purple lightning, rumbling and crackling, descended.

“Heavenly Thunder!” Liu Fengqing and Liu Fengyi huddled together, their faces tense as they watched their master endure the assault.

The purple lightning bolt was only the beginning. It crackled through the clouds and struck Liu Zhonglin directly, who trembled as his hair singed from the heat. But he endured.

Just three more strikes to go.

Liu Zhonglin glanced upward as a massive black cloud descended, more potent than before.

“Master! Eat the Vermilion Fruit!” Liu Fengyi shouted, joined by Liu Fengqing, urging him to consume it.

Resolute, Liu Zhonglin opened the brocade box and ate the fruit. Its taste was sweet, dissolving as soon as it touched his tongue, instantly rejuvenating his battered body and refilling his spiritual energy.

“Let’s have it, then!” he roared at the sky.

The clouds churned, the next bolt of lightning preparing to strike. The second bolt struck with immense force, shaking the Zhengyuan Sect to its foundations.

Withstanding the hit, Liu Zhonglin knelt, his skin peeling away before the Vermilion Fruit’s effects healed him.
