Chapter 16: Senior Sister Has Fallen into Obsession!

“Greetings, Senior Sister!”

For the past few days, Bai Shuyue had been cultivating in seclusion within her cave residence, yet instead of becoming more radiant, she only grew more haggard. On this day, when all the snow had finally melted, she came out to the mountain gate of Jade Peak to instruct the newly arrived disciples.

As soon as she reached the square at the gate, she saw a crowd gathered together, chattering noisily.

Bai Shuyue frowned, turned to the white-robed female disciple who had greeted her, and asked, “What are they talking about?”

“Reporting to Senior Sister, just now Third Senior Brother and Fifth Junior Sister flew past on a giant sword. The disciples must be discussing that matter.” The disciple answered respectfully.

Bai Shuyue froze slightly, a trace of gloom flashing in her eyes. “You mean Junior Brother Changju and Junior Sister Daidai were together?” She felt the situation was strange. How could Daidai be willing to stay with Changju?

The female disciple replied, “Yes, Senior Brother Changju and Senior Sister Daidai were indeed together just now.”

“But… don’t they usually not get along?” Bai Shuyue pressed further.

“Oh, so that’s why! No wonder Senior Brother Changju and Senior Sister Daidai were on such a huge sword, one standing at the tip, the other at the tail…” The disciple’s eyes lit with realization.

Hearing this, Bai Shuyue’s expression softened. She smiled faintly and said, “I see. You may leave.”

“Yes!” The disciple bowed and descended the mountain gate.

Bai Shuyue gazed at the distant clouds, her lips curving into a small smile.

“Did I see it right? Senior Sister actually smiled?” A passing disciple rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

“Yes, yes! And it was so beautiful!” another female disciple chimed in.

“Was it really?”

The disciples began murmuring in awe, amazed.

“It’s been so long since we saw Senior Sister smile like that.”

…

“Damn that Changju! So many days, yet he hasn’t come to find me!” Xiao Hongyan’s delicate steps swayed beneath the jade lotus hairpin on her head. Her crimson gauze dress hugged her graceful figure, long hair flowing over her chest, a crystal necklace resting against her pale neck.

She did not ride her sword but sat on a scarlet ibis, having heard that Changju had appeared near the gate, flying in that direction. “Hmph! I thought he was cultivating in his cave. Turns out he’s heating things up with Fifth Junior Sister! Let me teach him a lesson…”

Before long, she arrived at the mountain gate. But what she saw made her freeze.

“Thank you, Senior Sister, for your guidance…” The disciples saluted Bai Shuyue respectfully.

“You may all withdraw.”

“Yes!” The disciples bowed and left.

“Senior Sister, why are you here?” Xiao Hongyan walked gracefully toward Bai Shuyue. In front of this aloof Senior Sister, she always kept her noble manners, gentle and composed.

Yet Bai Shuyue found it difficult to look her in the eye. She carried herself with such dignity and grace, but in private… she played dirtier than anyone else! Bai Shuyue could never forget the scenes she had once seen on the Memory Stone—night after night, those sounds echoed in her dreams. And it had even been on her own bed… How could she dare?!

“Senior Sister?” Xiao Hongyan noticed the unusual expression on Bai Shuyue’s face. She was surprised, but she didn’t mind, keeping her smile.

“Master is still in seclusion. I had nothing better to do, so I came to check on the new disciples.” Bai Shuyue regained her composure, answering coldly.

“I see…” Xiao Hongyan nodded, then tilted her head. “But Senior Sister, why is your face red?”

“Is it?” Bai Shuyue’s voice tightened. “Perhaps I just used too much spiritual power earlier and got tired…”

“Oh, I see. By the way, did you see Junior Brother Changju? I heard he was here, and I have something to discuss with him.” Xiao Hongyan smiled.

“Junior Brother Changju? I haven’t seen him.” Bai Shuyue paused, then added, “But the disciples said he happened to pass by. No one knows where he went afterward.”

“Hmph, where has he gone these past few days? He hasn’t even answered my transmissions!” Xiao Hongyan muttered.

“When did you and Junior Brother Changju become so close?” Bai Shuyue asked with suspicion. In her memory, Xiao Hongyan and Changju had never been close. But since her rebirth, everything seemed to have changed. Xiao Hongyan had even dared to do such things with him… Could it be that Xiao Hongyan was also reborn?

Bai Shuyue’s gaze grew deeper, her eyes on Xiao Hongyan turning more unreadable.

Xiao Hongyan sensed something off about Senior Sister. A chill crawled up her back. Could it be… Senior Sister discovered what she and Changju had done in her room? Impossible… right?

In the entire Radiant Jade Sword Sect, the one person Xiao Hongyan feared most was this Senior Sister of hers. Cold and detached, walking the path of the Emotionless Dao, she was like an eternal iceberg—terrifyingly untouchable.

With a tremor in her voice, Xiao Hongyan said, “I had some misunderstandings with Junior Brother before, but in the past few days we’ve cleared them up, so we’ve been spending more time together.”

“Oh…” Bai Shuyue nodded slightly. Perhaps she was overthinking. Maybe her rebirth had altered something. Either way, it was good for Changju to have one less enemy.

“Eh? Isn’t that Changju?” Xiao Hongyan suddenly exclaimed.

Bai Shuyue turned and saw in the distance a young man in azure robes standing on his sword, tall and handsome. Her heart skipped a beat. It was indeed him—she recognized that figure instantly.

“Senior Sister, I’m going to find him!” Xiao Hongyan waved at Bai Shuyue, then flew toward Changju.

“Ah…” Bai Shuyue stretched out a hand to stop her but was too late. She hesitated, then chose not to chase after her.

…

Back at Moon Fairy’s Cave Mansion, night fell like ink. A gentle western wind stirred the white gauze curtains, carrying a faint fragrance, like pear blossoms drifting in the air.

Moonlight spilled across the floor, veiling the cave residence in mystery and quiet elegance. Bai Shuyue sat before a delicate jade platform, spiritual energy swirling like mist around her, perfect for cultivation.

Yet she felt nothing but loss and confusion. Her heart refused to calm.

“Forget it… Thinking too much is pointless. Only by cultivating can I one day help Junior Brother Changju…” she whispered to herself. Forcing her mind to focus, she sat cross-legged and tried to meditate, pushing away the turmoil.

An hour passed, and she still couldn’t enter meditation. It had been the same for days now.

Lost and distracted, she returned to her bedchamber. Like the past few nights, she lay there staring blankly at the six “正” marks carved into the beam.

Then, as if possessed, she reached for the Memory Stone.

And just like that, the night slipped away.

On the beam, two more “正” marks had appeared.
