When You Finally Turn Around After Playing Enough, I’ll No Longer Be There - Chapter 2:
Chapter 2: There Are Many People Worth Loving Besides Jiang Kewei
Unfortunately, back then he was too absorbed in the joy of his upcoming engagement to Jiang Kewei to spare any thought for Su Panyue.
He was the only contact saved in Su Panyue’s phone.
After she went missing, the Su family had no choice but to call him.
But he had been busy preparing for the engagement banquet and didn’t have the time to care, missing the best window to save her.
Su Panyue had jumped into the sea to take her own life.
When he received the news, his first reaction wasn’t grief over losing a good girl, but worry that it might affect his engagement with Jiang Kewei.
Even more absurd was that Jiang Kewei had hooked up with Xu Yi in the elevator during that very engagement banquet.
And she publicly rejected the engagement, humiliating him in front of everyone, leaving him utterly disgraced.
Looking back now, he realized how stupid he had been.
How could a love earned through simping ever last? Jiang Kewei didn’t love him. No matter how humble he was, she would never smile for him.
He should never have wasted his youth on someone unworthy. Looking back now, he realized that besides Jiang Kewei, there were many others worth loving.
…
Jiangcheng Airport.
Now slim and tall, Chen Luo stood out among the crowd.
Before long, a slender girl walked toward him gracefully, catching many glances along the way.
She stopped in the waiting area, her eyes scanning the crowd for that familiar chubby figure.
Not seeing who she was looking for, Su Panyue lowered her gaze in disappointment, her whole presence radiating a cold, unapproachable aura.
Chen Luo stepped forward and took the suitcase from her hand. “Let me take that.”
Su Panyue turned sideways to avoid him. “No need.”
Her presence was icy and distant, her beautiful eyes cold and aloof.
Chen Luo raised an eyebrow. Suddenly he remembered—he’d lost weight and probably looked quite different. Su Panyue must not have recognized him.
He hadn’t expected that the girl who used to blush so easily around him could act so cold in front of others.
So this was what they called the ice queen?
Chen Luo suddenly felt like teasing her. He forcefully took the suitcase from her hand. “Why so polite, little Yueyue?”
Su Panyue tried to resist, but his grip didn’t budge at all.
She stepped back twice, a glint of frost in her eyes. Meeting Chen Luo’s teasing gaze, Su Panyue parted her red lips. Her voice was pleasant, but icy to the core. “The name ‘little Yueyue’ isn’t for you to call.”
“What, you’re not Su Panyue?”
As the campus belle of Jiangcheng No.1 High School, many people recognized Su Panyue.
So when she heard this unfamiliar young man call her by name, she wasn’t too surprised—just that the air around her turned even more dangerous.
“There’s only one person allowed to call me that.”
Su Panyue clapped her hands lightly, and with the breeze blowing, a bodyguard dressed in black silently stepped out.
She turned around, leaving only a cold, graceful silhouette behind.
The tall, muscular bodyguard began walking toward Chen Luo, while a crowd gathered around to watch.
“She brings a bodyguard just to leave the airport? What kind of background does she have?”
“She’s so pretty, probably the daughter of some wealthy family!”
Chen Luo smirked wickedly. As the bodyguard approached, he leaned toward the man’s ear and whispered, “I’m Chen Luo. Don’t tell your young lady.”
Then he got into his car and quietly followed Su Panyue—only to discover that she had gone to his house.
The first thing she did after returning from abroad was visit his home? This little girl really was something else.
“Uncle, Aunt, these are the gifts I brought back for you from overseas.”
Su Panyue entered the Chen family villa with the bodyguard, carrying several suitcases.
Father Chen and Mother Chen greeted her with warm smiles.
“Thank you, little Yue. You even brought us gifts while traveling. You’re so thoughtful.”
“Why didn’t Chen Luo come back with you? He drove to the airport this morning to pick you up.” Mother Chen looked around, confused.
Su Panyue lowered her eyes. A hint of sadness flashed through her expression. “Brother Luo has been really busy lately. He probably didn’t have time to pick me up. It’s alright. I didn’t have much stuff, and my assistant helped me carry it. No need to trouble Brother Luo.”
But in her heart, Su Panyue understood clearly—Chen Luo didn’t come because he didn’t care about her.
If it were Jiang Kewei, no matter how busy he was, he would’ve dropped everything to be there on time.
Father Chen and Mother Chen exchanged glances. Both saw helplessness in each other’s eyes.
Such a good girl, yet their son didn’t care at all.
With Su Panyue’s looks and family background, if those two really got together, it would be Chen Luo who’s marrying up!
Mother Chen pulled Su Panyue over with a mock-stern face. “How could he forget something as important as you returning home? When he gets back, I’ll give him a good scolding!”
Su Panyue opened her mouth, about to speak for Chen Luo, when a cheerful voice interrupted her.
“I didn’t forget. Don’t wrong me.”
Su Panyue froze, then quickly turned around. Her stunning face was instantly covered in shock.
That guy… he was the annoying pervert from the airport!
Ugh! No—what pervert? This was Brother Luo!
Chen Luo walked in with a faint smile on his face.
Mother Su laughed, “Chen Luo lost 25 kilograms this summer break. No wonder you didn’t recognize him, little Yue. Chen Luo, why didn’t you tell her ahead of time? Come on, confess—did you do it on purpose?”
Su Panyue stared at Chen Luo’s face for a long time. Then, in the next moment, she suddenly lunged forward. “Brother Luo!”
The scent of the girl’s perfume filled his embrace as she hugged him tightly.
Maybe realizing the elders were still there, Su Panyue quickly pulled back, cheeks red, and pouted softly, “You’re so mean. You tricked me on purpose.”
Father Chen smoothed things over, “We have plenty of empty rooms. Little Yue, stay here tonight. Tomorrow you can head to school with Chen Luo. He can help you carry your luggage too.”
“Ah…” Su Panyue’s eyes flickered. Clearly, she was tempted. But remembering Chen Luo’s usual behavior, she still declined politely, “It’s okay. I still need to go home and organize a few things. Thank you, Uncle.”
From elementary school through middle school, Chen Luo used to wake up early every day to pick up Jiang Kewei and Song Qingyu.
After school, he’d also drive them both home first.
Besides those two, he never let any other girl ride in his car.
“The driver can bring your things over!” Mother Chen winked desperately at Chen Luo. “Right, Chen Luo?”
Chen Luo nodded, “Yeah.” In his past life, he had rejected Su Panyue, letting her return home alone late at night, while he woke up early the next day to help Jiang Kewei and Song Qingyu move their luggage.
He ended up drenched in sweat and still got scolded by Jiang Kewei for smelling bad.
Seeing him nod, Su Panyue’s face lit up with surprise.
“I’ll call the driver now!”
…
The next day, the two of them left the Chen household together.
Su Panyue had gotten up an hour early to do her makeup. Her stunning face looked fresh and radiant under the morning sun. Her long hair flowed down her slim waist, and the soft pink skirt she wore made her long legs look even more graceful and fair.
Her assistant followed behind, carrying the suitcases. Su Panyue clung to Chen Luo’s arm affectionately. In her memory, this was the first time Brother Luo had gone to school with her.
The two rode in a private car toward Qinghe High School.
As they neared Jiang Kewei’s neighborhood, the driver asked, “Sir, are you not picking up Miss Jiang today?”
Chen Luo glanced at his phone. Messages from Song Qingyu were popping up non-stop.
