Chapter 89: Wait Until Later, But There Will Be a Family of Three

As soon as Leng Youyun spoke, Ling Ye narrowed his eyes slightly. Judging by her tone, did she… already know? She seemed to understand a lot about this place. She even knew exactly what he was searching for.

That meant… she must also know where the Void Demonic Beasts were hidden beneath this island.

“You seem to know quite a lot,” Ling Ye said with a faint smile, looking at Leng Youyun.

“Hmph!” Leng Youyun’s blood-red eyes gleamed with pride as she made a smug expression. When it came to the secrets beneath this place, she knew more than Ling Ye.

“But you don’t seem too eager to tell me, do you?” Ling Ye continued with a smirk, his gaze still fixed on her.

Of course, he knew that if Leng Youyun had something he wanted, she would never give it up so easily.

“In this regard… you’re still not as good as me,” Leng Youyun said playfully, flashing a teasing smile.

She found it amusing to hold onto information that Ling Ye needed.

Because of this, he would have no choice but to coax her into revealing what she knew.

“You think I don’t understand you?” Ling Ye smirked.

The moment those words left his lips, Leng Youyun’s smile froze, her expression turning cold. A slight flush crept across her face, as though she was both angered and embarrassed at the same time.

In that moment, she looked even more captivating.

“Where are the things hidden below?” Ling Ye asked again.

“Is this the tone of someone asking for a favor?” Leng Youyun grinned triumphantly.

She always found a way to throw Ling Ye’s own words back at him. Women had a remarkable ability to hold grudges, and she was no exception.

And when it came to getting revenge, they remembered everything in perfect detail.

“Tell me… it’s not like it will cost you anything, right?” Ling Ye shrugged, deliberately repeating her own words back to her.

“If you want to know, why not figure it out yourself?” Leng Youyun smirked, clearly enjoying herself.

Seeing Ling Ye struggle to get information from her was incredibly entertaining.

“You really don’t understand the concept of reciprocation, do you?” Ling Ye sighed. “I just let you in, and now I ask you for something, and you refuse to say a word?”

Hearing this, Leng Youyun laughed softly.

With a sudden swish, she moved closer to him, leaning in until her lips were next to his ear. In a soft, teasing whisper, she said—

“When did you ever think… that I was the type to return favors?”

She was the Demon Empress, the leader of the demon race.

She had never owed anyone a favor.

There was no one in the world who had done her a kindness that required repaying.

And what Ling Ye had done for her?

That wasn’t a favor at all.

Hearing her words, Ling Ye caught the faint fragrance of her presence.

Without hesitation, he wrapped an arm around her slender waist and said, “I don’t have to be this polite with you, and you better not forget that.”

“Ah…!”

Leng Youyun’s delicate body tensed up in surprise.

But this time, she didn’t struggle.

Her soft frame pressed against Ling Ye’s chest as she let out a small chuckle. “And what exactly do you plan to do with me?” she asked, her voice laced with mischief.

Seeing the smug expression on her face, Ling Ye tightened his grip slightly.

“I said before, every time I see you, I’ll bully you. You should stop pushing me toward that.”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

Leng Youyun’s face turned cold in an instant.

But her blood-red eyes held no trace of fear.

Instead, there was icy determination in them.

She was certain that Ling Ye wouldn’t actually do anything to her.

“You really want to test me?” Ling Ye said, lowering his gaze to look directly into her eyes.

Did she think he wouldn’t dare?

He was surprised that she dared to say something like that at a time like this.

Had she already forgotten what happened last time?

“If you dare… then I’ll show you whether I die or not,” Leng Youyun said softly, raising her head to stare at him.

Hearing this, Ling Ye suddenly laughed.

What was this?

A threat?

She was threatening him with her own life?

And what was with this young wife’s tone?

“When did you start thinking that your life was something you could use to threaten me?” Ling Ye chuckled.

Did she really believe that he cared whether she lived or died?

Where did she get this confidence?

Did she think that just because he had touched her, it meant he cared?

Leng Youyun frowned slightly, the cold expression on her face deepening.

She forcefully pulled herself out of Ling Ye’s embrace and took a step back.

“I’m looking for something. If you help me find it, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know,” she said, her tone indifferent.

Seeing her expression, Ling Ye smirked again.

Was she upset because he said he didn’t care about her life?

This woman… had definitely changed.

“What are you looking for?” Ling Ye asked.

“The Heavenly Soul Fruit,” Leng Youyun replied flatly.

She was only willing to let Ling Ye help her.

And as far as she was concerned, it was his duty to do so.

After all… it was for his child.

“The Heavenly Soul Fruit?”

Ling Ye raised an eyebrow. “That kind of fruit is useful for those trying to break through to the Soul Realm, but you’ve already reached the Soul Realm. Why do you still need it?”

“That’s none of your business!” Leng Youyun snapped, shooting him a cold glare.

“Either hurry up and find it, or… you can investigate what you want to know by yourself.”

Seeing her firm stance, Ling Ye sighed and looked away.

Fine.

This time, he was the one being threatened.

This island was full of rare herbs, so it wouldn’t hurt to collect some for himself as well.

And while he was at it, he might as well help her find the fruit she wanted.

“Find whatever you need and collect some,” Ling Ye instructed Su Xinyue and Bai Ling. “And also… look for the Heavenly Soul Fruit.”

“Understood!” Bai Ling nodded quickly.

Before Su Xinyue could respond, Bai Ling grabbed her hand and dragged her away.

After putting some distance between themselves and Ling Ye and Leng Youyun, Bai Ling finally let go of Su Xinyue’s hand.

Then, with eyes full of curiosity, she asked—

“Senior Sister, that beautiful red-eyed sister… she’s not really Master’s wife, is she?”

It was only natural for a woman to be curious about gossip.

And Bai Ling was no exception.

What exactly was the relationship between Master and Leng Youyun?

They were practically stuck together just now!

“Of course not! What nonsense are you thinking?” Su Xinyue frowned.

She refused to acknowledge that they had a Mistress now.

The Mistress should be the most important woman in Ling Ye’s life.

And that should be… the Queen of the Great Imperial Empire.

Leng Youyun? Definitely not.

“But they were… acting so close!” Bai Ling blinked her big, innocent eyes. “I feel like Master likes her a lot.”

Hearing that, Su Xinyue frowned again.

She couldn’t deny that.

Because it did seem like Ling Ye liked Leng Youyun.

Even though they were always bickering or fighting, their relationship was… strange.

Despite their hostility, there was an undeniable tension between them.

Thinking back to that day in Beiming Imperial Capital, Su Xinyue suddenly realized…

Maybe something really had happened between them.

“I think… she’s a good match for Master!” Bai Ling tilted her head as she spoke. That was her honest opinion. Ling Ye and Leng Youyun were both incredibly powerful and strikingly good-looking. If there was anyone in the world who could truly match each other, it had to be the two of them.

“Senior Sister, why do you seem unhappy?” Bai Ling suddenly turned to Su Xinyue and asked.

She could tell that Su Xinyue’s expression had changed after hearing her words. Was this… jealousy?

Yes! Jealousy!

“Senior Sister, don’t tell me you… actually have feelings for Master?” Bai Ling gasped, covering her small mouth in shock.

My god! Senior Sister actually has feelings for Master?!

For Bai Ling, who had never seen much of the outside world, this was far too shocking.

Wasn’t this… crossing the line?

“Don’t you?” Su Xinyue stared at Bai Ling, not even denying it.

Bai Ling’s face instantly turned bright red. “I… of course I don’t!” she stammered.

She didn’t!

Or rather… before Su Xinyue said anything, she really hadn’t thought about it.

But the moment Su Xinyue brought it up, it was as if a small flame had been ignited in her heart.

Suddenly, she felt that maybe… she actually could?

If Senior Sister could have those kinds of thoughts about Master, then why couldn’t she?

Master was so powerful, so charming…

As that thought sank in, Bai Ling’s face turned even redder.

A young girl experiencing her first real crush… of course, she would feel embarrassed.

“You’re still blushing?” Su Xinyue glanced at her.

“…!”

Bai Ling immediately lowered her head and muttered, “Well… if I do, then I do! Senior Sister, you were the one who brought this up first!”

Since she had been caught, she might as well admit it.

Besides… it was Senior Sister who had led her astray first.

“What do you mean I taught you?” Su Xinyue frowned.

How did she teach her?!

“Obviously, you were the one who said it first!” Bai Ling pouted, acting as if she had been forced into this.

Su Xinyue shook her head helplessly. Great… now she was being blamed for it.

“Senior Sister, we’re really bad girls, aren’t we? We actually dared to have thoughts about Master! Hehehe!” Bai Ling giggled.

The two continued to whisper, wandering across the ghost island in search of rare herbs for cultivation.

At the same time, they kept an eye out for the Heavenly Soul Fruit that Leng Youyun wanted.

This massive ghost island, which was as large as a small continent, made finding a single fruit the size of a fist extremely difficult.

It was going to take a long time.

Meanwhile, Ling Ye and Leng Youyun walked side by side, searching at a leisurely pace.

Neither of them was in a hurry, strolling as if they were simply taking a casual walk.

They looked just like a couple.

Two for now… but in the future, they would be a family of three.

That thought made Leng Youyun smile to herself.

“You find something funny?” Ling Ye noticed the smirk on her lips.

“None of your business!” Leng Youyun scoffed, glancing at him before looking away.

Ling Ye shook his head helplessly before asking, “How did you reach the Soul Realm?”

She shouldn’t have broken through this quickly.

She must have used some kind of special method.

“Before this, I met a little girl from your Great Imperial Empire. She had a soul body inside her,” Leng Youyun explained. “That soul body carried the power of the Soul Realm, so… I refined it.”

Hearing this, Ling Ye narrowed his eyes slightly.

A soul body in human form?

“Gu Shengyan?” he asked.

“A mere Martial Spirit cultivator, and yet you actually remember her name?” Leng Youyun smirked. “Since when do you have room in your heart for a common girl?”

Gu Shengyan belonged to Ziyue Immortal Sect, but she was not outstanding in terms of talent or strength.

If not for the soul body inside her, she was nothing but a common person.

And yet, Ling Ye remembered her name?

Did this girl actually matter to him?

Ling Ye chuckled.

It wasn’t that Gu Shengyan meant anything to him.

But in the original story, she was one of the main heroines, so of course, he knew her name.

“So, the soul body inside her is gone now?” he asked.

That was supposed to be one of Gu Shengyan’s greatest advantages in the original novel.

And now… it had ended up in Leng Youyun’s hands?

“A pity, isn’t it? If you had extracted that soul body earlier, you might have already reached the Soul Realm,” Leng Youyun teased.

Then, with a proud smirk, she added, “Oh… but I forgot. Only people from the demon race know how to refine soul formations.”

She was right.

If Ling Ye had known how to refine a soul body, he could have taken Gu Shengyan’s power much earlier.

By now, he would have long surpassed the Soul Realm.

Ling Ye smirked. “So, you didn’t destroy it completely?”

“I didn’t erase it,” Leng Youyun admitted. “I simply sealed it. Once it recovers, I’ll capture that little girl again and use her as a power source.”

With a mocking smile, she added, “A subject of the Great Imperial Empire, reduced to nothing but a tool for my cultivation. As the emperor, how does that make you feel?”

Ling Ye simply laughed.

This woman was far too twisted.

But… Gu Shengyan’s fate had nothing to do with him.

“She left the Great Imperial Empire,” Ling Ye said indifferently. “She’s not one of my people anymore. Whether she lives or dies—that’s her problem.”

As long as it didn’t affect him, as long as it didn’t interfere with the women beside him, he couldn’t care less.

“If you’ve already reached the Soul Realm, why haven’t you gone to Nine Nether to take back all your power?” Ling Ye asked.

“Bai Luo isn’t stronger than you anymore, is she?”

Bai Luo was also in the early Soul Realm.

With Leng Youyun’s current strength—plus the entire demon race on her side—she should be able to reclaim her full power.

So why hadn’t she acted yet?

“You really want me to regain all my strength?” Leng Youyun glanced at him and smirked.

“As long as you don’t eunuch me, I don’t mind,” Ling Ye joked.

“Hmph! Don’t worry,” Leng Youyun snorted coldly. “I’ll eunuch you sooner or later!”

BOOM!!!

Just as the two were walking leisurely, a sudden explosion rang out from the thunder barrier in the distance!

Both of them turned their heads to look.

A group of figures was forcing their way through the Heavenly Thunder, breaking into the island!

At the front was a woman clad in black.

Her face was covered with a veil, leaving only a pair of stunning phoenix-like eyes visible.

She was the one who had endured the thunderstorm, leading the group behind her through the barrier!

Both Ling Ye and Leng Youyun narrowed their eyes in curiosity.

For someone to break through the barrier, they had to be at least in the Soul Realm.

Judging by her exhausted state… she was also in the early Soul Realm.

But the real question was—

Where did another Soul Realm cultivator suddenly come from?
