Chapter 2: Song Wanci

“Fine!” Qin Feng clenched his fists tightly, the spiritual energy gathered in his hand dispersing instantly.

“Thirty years on the east bank of the river…” Qin Feng glared fiercely at Xu Linxiu, as if he’d suffered the greatest injustice in the world.

“Hey hey hey!” Xu Linxiu raised his hand to stop him from continuing, then looked up at Qin Feng and said speechlessly, “Don’t give me that look like everyone owes you something.”

“And don’t even start with that ‘thirty years east of the river’ nonsense. I’m telling you—even if you had three hundred years, it’d be useless.”

Xu Linxiu’s voice was filled with absolute confidence as he looked down on Qin Feng with disdain. He had figured it out. So what if the entire Mystic Profound Continent existed to serve Qin Feng? Even if the will of Heaven in this world sided with Qin Feng—so what?

If Qin Feng had even a shred of decency, Xu Linxiu might have had second thoughts about opposing him.

After all, he was the villain, destined to clash with the protagonist. He had even gone out of his way to avoid Qin Feng all these years, yet it had all been for nothing. Today, he was finally facing off against this so-called child of destiny…

So what?

Qin Feng would definitely die by his hand!

[Detected host possesses a strong desire to seize destiny.]

[Fate-Seizing System successfully bound!]

Xu Linxiu froze, then pressed down the corner of his lips to hide the smile that was forming. He had been in this world for several decades already. In the past, he had hoped for this golden finger every transmigrator dreamed of. He’d also been disappointed and doubtful…

In the end… better late than never.

Qin Feng gritted his teeth and swallowed the rest of his unfinished words. His eyes swept coldly over the female cultivator and Xu Linxiu, as if trying to carve their faces into his memory so he could avenge today’s humiliation.

Finally, under Elder Qing’s repeated reminders from within the bracelet, he flung his sleeves and left in haste.

“Are you okay?” Now that Qin Feng was gone, Xu Linxiu finally turned to the girl who hadn’t spoken a word the whole time. But the moment he looked, he froze. The girl was trembling slightly, and fine beads of sweat covered her pale face.

Was she frightened by that thing called Qin Feng?

Xu Linxiu narrowed his eyes slightly and maintained a proper distance from her. The girl shook her head and opened her mouth as if trying to speak, but no sound came out even after a long while.

“What’s wrong? Did that Qin Feng scare you?” Xu Linxiu formed a hand seal and tossed out a few message talismans.

“Don’t worry. That guy won’t bother you again. I’m not sure exactly what happened, and it’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it. But remember to clearly explain everything to the elders and the Disciplinary Hall when the time comes.”

Xu Linxiu smiled gently, the corners of his lips lifting into a warm expression. The girl pursed her lips and closed her mouth again.

Seeing this, Xu Linxiu gave a few reminders before turning to leave.

After all, being alone with a girl in the middle of the night could damage her reputation. Besides, he was also eager to return to his cave residence and check out the system.

“I hate you…” A faint voice, laced with grievance, entered Xu Linxiu’s ears.

Xu Linxiu froze mid-step, his foot hovering in the air. Still facing away, he pointed at himself in disbelief and mouthed silently, “Me?”

What the hell? Why does she… hate me?

Come on, Xu Linxiu didn’t mind, he wouldn’t get defensive over this.

It’s just… he has this friend who might be a little hurt right now.

Just as Xu Linxiu turned around to ask her what she meant, the girl had already walked off quickly.

“Hey! Wait!” Xu Linxiu was still caught up in the sting of that rejection when a fragrant pouch on the ground caught his attention. It must have fallen from her just now, so he called out.

But the girl was already long gone.

Xu Linxiu curled his lips and picked up the pouch, noticing three gold-embossed characters stitched onto it.

“Song Wanci…” Xu Linxiu read them aloud and realized that must be her name. He didn’t think too much of it. After putting the pouch into his storage ring, he quickly made his way back to his cave.

…

…

“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!”

Inside Qin Feng’s cave residence, everything that could be smashed had been smashed. The place was a complete mess.

The elder known as Elder Qing emerged as a spirit from within the bracelet, appearing in the room.

“Qin Feng, it’s fine to have the desire for revenge. But you need to channel that into your cultivation,” Elder Qing advised as he stroked his beard, sighing inwardly.

Qin Feng’s aptitude was exceptional—a true cultivation genius. He had showcased his talent in today’s Azure Cloud Sword Sect Grand Competition before all the elders. No doubt, he would receive focused training going forward.

With Elder Qing’s collection of unparalleled techniques, Qin Feng’s future looked promising.

However, his temperament… was far too extreme.

Though it was likely due to the trauma he suffered as a child, Elder Qing could only take it one step at a time now. He withdrew from his thoughts and glanced at the furious Qin Feng, sighing silently again.

“I understand, Elder Qing. I’ll focus on cultivating the Wasteland Radiance Manual, and I’ll crush everyone who dares look down on me!” Qin Feng clenched his fists, then added, “And I’ll find a set of immortal remains to help Elder Qing restore your body.”

Hearing that, Elder Qing nodded, a faint smile finally appearing on his face.

“Alright, start cultivating now. Use the spirit stones you earned in the competition over the next few days and absorb them quickly.”

“Yes, Elder Qing.”

…

…

Xu Linxiu rushed back to his cave residence and immediately called out to the system.

“System? Hey, System?”

[I’m here, host.]

Hearing the response, Xu Linxiu curled his lips into a smile. It wasn’t an illusion. He really had awakened the golden finger every transmigrator dreamed of.

“What can you do?”

Calming down, Xu Linxiu sat by a chair, made himself a cup of tea, and asked.

[The Fate-Seizing System, as the name suggests, allows the host to seize the fortune and opportunities of the chosen one and make them your own.]

[All the host needs to do is find ways to weaken the protagonist’s fortune to earn corresponding Fate Points.]

[Fate Points can be used to exchange for all kinds of cultivation treasures, even directly for cultivation levels, and can also unlock supreme treasures that do not belong to this world.]

Xu Linxiu didn’t respond. He took a sip of tea, while his other hand tapped rhythmically on the table.

He had been in this world for so many years, and only today had the system bound to him. Xu Linxiu guessed it was because he had previously avoided all contact with the protagonist, staying far away from the so-called child of destiny.

But after witnessing how wretched Qin Feng was today, he had decided he wouldn’t keep cowering anymore.

That shift in mindset must have aligned perfectly with the system’s requirements, triggering the binding process.

“System, can I view my personal panel?” Xu Linxiu asked, suddenly thinking of something.
