Chapter 127: Another Twenty Million Deposited

Zhou Xue stared in disbelief at the photos scattered on the floor. Her hand trembled as she reached out to touch the face of the little girl in the picture. She couldn’t believe that there was someone in the world who looked so much like her.

Moreover, this girl seemed to be around the same age as Fang Qin.

Zhou Xue took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Perhaps there really was someone out there who resembled her so closely. She had to stop overthinking. Otherwise, she would be doing a great injustice to her daughter, Fang Qin.

But she couldn’t help it. She kept picking up the photos, examining each one carefully. There was something about this girl that made Zhou Xue feel a strange connection.

Suddenly, Zhou Xue’s expression changed. She held one particular photo with a look of shock and disbelief.

In the picture, the little girl—who looked exactly like Zhou Xue—was being scolded and beaten by a middle-aged woman who was yanking her ear. The girl hunched her shoulders, trying to shrink away but unable to escape. She looked so pitiful.

But what shocked Zhou Xue wasn’t just that.

It was the fact that the middle-aged woman—who was hitting the little girl—had a face that was identical to Fang Qin’s.

That round face, thick eyebrows, small eyes, and wide mouth…

The only difference was that one was still a young girl, while the other had already started aging.

Zhou Xue’s face turned pale as her hands trembled uncontrollably.

She had always assumed that Fang Qin’s appearance was the result of some recessive gene from Fang Hao’s family. That was why Fang Qin looked nothing like her or Fang Hao.

But now, a terrifying thought surfaced in her mind.

Fang Hao was the first to notice Zhou Xue’s strange reaction.

Having grown up together as childhood sweethearts, he knew her better than anyone.

Fang Hao immediately rushed over, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and asked in a worried tone, “Xue’er, what’s wrong?!”

Then, he turned and shot a fierce glare at Su Chen.

He assumed that Su Chen must have done something to make Zhou Xue so upset.

If anything happened to Zhou Xue, even if it meant completely severing ties with the Su family, Fang Hao would make sure Su Chen paid the price.

Zhou Xue’s eyes were red as she shakily handed the photo to Fang Hao, her voice barely above a whisper. “Hao-ge, look at this.”

Fang Hao frowned, glancing at Zhou Xue in confusion. He had no idea what could have shaken her so badly.

He lowered his gaze to the photo in her hands.

The moment he saw it, Fang Hao froze.

A little girl, identical to Zhou Xue, carrying trays in a small restaurant…

And that same girl, being scolded and beaten by a middle-aged woman who looked exactly like Fang Qin.

Fang Hao’s jaw dropped as he stared at the photo, then looked up at Zhou Xue, then back down at the picture. Finally, he turned his gaze toward Fang Qin.

His mind went blank.

A terrifying realization dawned on him.

Fang Qin felt uneasy under her parents’ stares. Their expressions were unfamiliar—so unfamiliar that they scared her.

She quickly ran to them, clinging to them like a spoiled child.

“Daddy, Mommy, what’s wrong?”

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I’m scared!”

But before she could reach them, Zhou Xue had already gathered the photos and stuffed them into her pocket. Then, she turned to Su Chen with a desperate plea.

“Su Chen, can I borrow these photos for a few days?”

“And can you tell me where you took them?”

“I really appreciate it!”

As she spoke, Zhou Xue clasped her hands together and bowed repeatedly in gratitude.

Fang Hao’s expression had also changed. He no longer looked angry at Su Chen. Instead, there was a newfound respect in his eyes.

“Su Chen, no matter what, I owe you a thank you.”

Su Chen, however, remained calm and smiled lightly.

“Mrs. Fang, no need to be so formal. They’re just photos.”

“The location is written on the back.”

Zhou Xue quickly turned the photos over and saw an address—right in Haishi.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Su Chen.

“Su Chen, thank you! Thank you so much!”

Then, without sparing Fang Qin a single glance, she turned and ran out of the room.

Fang Hao didn’t hesitate either. He quickly assigned a servant to escort the Su father and son out, shot Su Chen a look of gratitude, and hurried out as well.

Fang Qin watched as her parents left without acknowledging her. Her expression darkened.

What was wrong with them?!

In the past, if she acted spoiled, they would immediately comfort her.

Did they… already know?!

The thought terrified Fang Qin.

No, impossible. Those people had promised to stay far away from Haishi.

Fang Qin was too lost in her own panic to even think about Su Chen anymore. She absentmindedly left the room, completely distracted.

Su Zhenxing stood there, dumbfounded.

What was going on with Fang Hao and Zhou Xue?!

They just abandoned their guests and ran off?!

And why were they suddenly treating Su Chen with so much gratitude?!

Scratching his head in confusion, Su Zhenxing turned to look at Su Chen, who sat there with a smug expression of confidence.

Su Zhenxing immediately understood.

This little brat knew something!

He wanted to ask but hesitated. He knew Su Chen too well—if there was no benefit, there was no way he’d get an answer.

Su Zhenxing opened his mouth, then closed it again. Forget it.

If something big had happened in the Fang family, he’d find out sooner or later.

And sure enough, just a few days later, during breakfast, he found his answer.

It was trending on social media.

“Is this moral corruption or human depravity? A restaurant owner secretly swapped her daughter with a wealthy family’s child?!”

The article included photos—one of Fang Qin’s infamously round face and another of a young girl who looked exactly like Zhou Xue.

Su Zhenxing instantly understood.

So this was why Fang Hao and Zhou Xue had rushed off that day.

He smugly glanced at Su Chen, who was casually eating his breakfast.

See? Even without asking Su Chen, he had figured it out eventually!

Su Chen, however, paid him no mind.

Because at that moment—

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

Ten consecutive transactions of two million each landed in his account.

Every transaction note read:

“Voluntary payment from Fang Hao as a token of gratitude for helping find his daughter.”

Su Chen’s mood immediately soared.

Perfect.

Fang Hao really knew how to behave.

All those photos he took weren’t in vain!
