Chapter 96: Following You Is to Learn from You

Su Chen glanced at the desk with the large “Reimbursements” sign, then looked at Lu Yunfei’s smiling face.

He might not have understood the intricacies of finance department assignments, but he certainly knew that Lu Yunfei had no good intentions toward him. More importantly, if he got stuck in this position, how was he supposed to deal with Lu Yunfei?

So, Su Chen smiled politely at Lu Yunfei while saying something completely impolite.

“Director Lu, I don’t think this position is suitable for my learning.”

“I am, after all, a shareholder of Su Corporation.”

“I believe the best position for me to learn from is you.”

Su Chen raised his hand and pointed directly at Lu Yunfei, still maintaining his courteous smile.

“Your position—Chief Financial Officer.”

“So, Director Lu, I’ve decided.”

“For the rest of today, I will follow you closely and learn everything about the finance department.”

Lu Yunfei’s smile froze instantly.

Follow him?

How was he supposed to make Su Chen look bad then? He couldn’t exactly embarrass Su Chen in front of himself! That would leave him with no way to explain to Chairman Su.

Lu Yunfei forced out an awkward smile, as stiff as a mask.

“Su Chen, Chairman Su wants you to properly learn the finance department’s workflow.”

“My work has already moved beyond the basic financial operations.”

“If you follow me, you won’t meet Chairman Su’s expectations.”

“So, Su Chen, you should stay at the reimbursement desk and familiarize yourself with the process.”

“Of course, if you’re not satisfied with this position, I can assign you to another one.”

Lu Yunfei thought that bringing up Chairman Su would make Su Chen obey and stay put at the reimbursement desk.

But what he didn’t realize was that Su Chen regarded Chairman Su’s words as nothing more than air.

So when Lu Yunfei tried to pressure him with Su Zhenxing’s authority, Su Chen didn’t get angry. He simply smiled and responded with an even more impolite remark.

“So, Director Lu, are you trying to teach me how to do things?”

Otherwise, he’d be forgetting who the real big boss was.

Lu Yunfei felt helpless in the face of Su Chen’s resistance to his manipulation.

Leveraging authority and persuasion were his usual tactics, and they always worked—until now.

He had never expected that this young man, who had only returned to the Su family two years ago, could be so difficult to handle.

For the first time, Lu Yunfei regretted his decision.

Maybe he had sided with Su Mu too soon.

But to their surprise, it was Director Lu who was being completely overpowered by Su Chen.

Many of them began to change their minds about Su Chen.

Sure, he was young and didn’t understand finance.

But he was definitely not someone who could be easily fooled.

They started to reconsider their previous underestimation of him.

And just like that, Su Chen secured his own position in the finance department.

Lu Yunfei returned to his office, and Su Chen followed closely behind, stepping into the office with him.

Lu Yunfei wanted to make Su Chen give up on his own.

He focused on his work and ignored Su Chen completely, refusing to explain any financial details or procedures.

He had already prepared his excuse—if Chairman Su asked, he would simply say that his work was beyond the basics, and Su Chen couldn’t learn anything from him.

That way, he could even turn the situation against Su Chen.

But Su Chen remained completely unfazed.

When Lu Yunfei worked, Su Chen casually flipped through his documents.

When someone came to discuss business with Lu Yunfei, Su Chen stared intently at their conversation, making Lu Yunfei feel restless and uncomfortable.

An hour passed, and Lu Yunfei finally couldn’t take it anymore.

He decided to go to the restroom to get some relief and escape Su Chen’s constant surveillance.

But as he stood up to leave, he noticed something horrifying—

Su Chen stood up as well.

Lu Yunfei stopped walking.

Su Chen, right behind him, stopped too.

Lu Yunfei clenched his teeth in frustration and sneered.

“Su Chen, I’m just going to the restroom. Surely, you’re not planning to follow me there to ‘learn’ as well?”

Su Chen smiled faintly.

“Chairman Su told me to learn from you.”

“And that doesn’t just mean learning from your work habits.”

“I also need to learn from your daily routines, Director Lu.”

Lu Yunfei nearly spat out blood.

This brat was completely shameless!

Forcing a stiff smile, he turned and walked toward the restroom with an expression as dark as the bottom of a pot.

Su Chen, still smiling, followed closely behind.

When they reached the urinals, Su Chen casually relieved himself right next to Lu Yunfei.

Lu Yunfei, feeling incredibly uncomfortable under Su Chen’s presence, struggled to even go properly. After much effort, only a few drops came out.

Su Chen let out a quiet chuckle.

“Director Lu, that’s not looking too good.”

Lu Yunfei was so furious that he couldn’t even manage the last few drops.

And so, Su Chen truly lived up to his father’s request to “learn properly” from Director Lu.

At lunchtime, when Lu Yunfei went to eat, Su Chen followed right behind him.

Their figures, walking in tandem, happened to be seen by Chairman Su.

Chairman Su felt deeply satisfied.

“Su Chen is really behaving today!”

“He must finally be realizing how hard I work and will start respecting me more.”

Feeling pleased, Chairman Su even ate an extra bowl of rice.

In the afternoon, Su Chen continued to follow Lu Yunfei everywhere.

He called it “learning.”

Lu Yunfei’s entire day was spent in absolute discomfort, feeling constantly on edge.

Finally, when it was time to clock out, Lu Yunfei breathed a sigh of relief.

He had never realized how torturous a workday could be.

At least now that it was after hours, Su Chen couldn’t possibly keep following him.

Lu Yunfei had already forgotten about Su Mu’s request to make Su Chen look bad.

At this point, he only cared about one thing—getting out of here.

Yawning, his eyes filled with exhaustion, Lu Yunfei picked up his phone and car keys, ready to head home.

Seeing Lu Yunfei’s tired expression and watery eyes, Su Chen was satisfied.

The plan was nearly complete. How could he let Lu Yunfei leave so easily?

With just two sentences, Su Chen completely shattered Lu Yunfei’s last bit of relief.

“Director Lu, I feel like I haven’t learned enough about our finance department yet.”

“Why don’t we stay and work overtime together?”

As he looked at Su Chen’s smiling face, Lu Yunfei finally lost control.

Overtime?

He couldn’t afford to stay late!

He needed to go home and “recharge” with heroin!

Right now, he was already feeling fatigued, weak, and exhausted.
