Chapter 4: The Wicked Woman Who Tried to Seduce an Old Man

Su Bai chuckled.

With Lin Xiaoyue’s careless personality, it wasn’t surprising that she forgot her undergarment in the storage pouch. That woman was a cultivation fanatic—outside of the Sword Dao, she had no interest in anything else.

It was precisely because of this obsessive devotion to the Sword Dao that Lin Xiaoyue was also… extremely easy to fool.

Su Bai never dragged his feet. Once he had an idea, he acted immediately.

He headed down the mountain and made his way toward Antique Street.

Lin Xiaoyue wasn’t stupid—fooling her would take some effort. There were craftsmen on Antique Street who specialized in aging paper, to the point their fake antiques were almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

“Too flashy!”

“No one supports my Azure Cloud ambition, so I walk the snowy path to the summit myself!”

“This one is clearly a fake at first glance, needs to settle a bit.”

“This corner piece, sir, looks excellent. Must be from three thousand years ago.”

The people playing with antiques here were all eccentric, speaking in ways Su Bai didn’t fully understand.

Corner pieces? Silver bases? As a seventy-year-old pure-hearted old man, Su Bai had no idea what they were talking about.

“I’ll take some aged paper.”

What Su Bai wanted wasn’t in high demand, but it wasn’t completely unavailable either.

Many fake antique makers, especially those who recreated ancient calligraphy or paintings, needed this kind of aged paper.

The lame craftsman inside the little workshop glanced coldly at Su Bai, then pulled out a stack of paper from the cabinet and tossed it onto the counter.

“Five taels of silver. No haggling.”

Since Su Bai wore shabby clothes and looked like a man past seventy, he didn’t attract attention.

Though the vendor had a poor attitude, Su Bai had long since cultivated patience and wasn’t about to lose his temper like a hotheaded youth.

He tossed down five taels of silver and then took out two more, placing them on the table.

The lame craftsman’s eyes suddenly lit up.

“A tip for you.”

Su Bai reminded him, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

“Of course not! I’m always tight-lipped!”

Upon seeing the extra two taels, the craftsman’s entire demeanor changed. His face bloomed with smiles and he bowed repeatedly.

Such was the power of money!

Now that Su Bai had Lin Xiaoyue’s storage pouch, he had some wealth to his name. Handing out a tip like that was no big deal to him.

“Sir, I also have some special ink and brushes. If you use this ink, the things you write will naturally look aged too.”

Seeing how generous Su Bai was, the craftsman was eager to keep him as a customer and offered free gifts to build goodwill.

Su Bai accepted the brush and ink, then left the shop.

He went straight to an inn, planning to stay there and fabricate a few fake Sword Manuals.

“Sir, would you like some company? We have a newly arrived exotic girl—absolutely stunning.”

“No, thank you.”

Su Bai declined the inn attendant’s offer.

Although he had cultivated the Vermilion Bird Demon-Suppressing Sword, his body hadn’t yet strengthened. He was still an old, frail man.

If a prostitute really came in, it was unclear who would be playing whom.

His old bones couldn’t handle such torment.

Having already comprehended the sword intent of the Vermilion Bird Demon-Suppressing Sword, and since the Fire Phoenix Sword Technique was derived from it, Su Bai could naturally deduce many Sword Moves on his own.

He didn’t prepare too many—only three technique manuals—to trick Lin Xiaoyue.

A single technique manual had earned him so much. With three, Su Bai was certain he’d make a fortune.

Night had already fallen.

Su Bai had no intention of returning to the Azure Cloud Sect just yet. It was already late, so he decided to spend the night at the inn and leave at dawn.

He sat cross-legged on the bed and began to meditate, cultivating the Azure Cloud Art.

He’d practiced this technique for decades, but due to his poor talent, he had never managed to break through. Still, after all these years, it had become a habit.

At midnight, a knock suddenly came at the door.

“Young master, the night is long and lonely. May I come in for a chat?”

The voice outside was soft and sweet, clearly that of a young woman. Yet the tone was so flirtatious that it sent shivers down the spine.

“There’s no young master here, only an old man,” Su Bai opened his eyes and replied coldly.

“An old man is fine too… Such a lonely night, don’t you want someone to talk to?”

Whoever was outside seemed very professional.

She even accepted old men.

Such dedication made Su Bai curious. Could this be the exotic girl the innkeeper mentioned earlier?

“The door’s unlocked. Come in.”

Su Bai invited her in.

The girl pushed open the door and walked into the room. Before he could see her face clearly in the dim moonlight, a strange fragrance hit Su Bai, causing his mind to stir.

Under the moonlight, the girl wore no makeup, yet her face was naturally elegant and refined—a true beauty.

But behind that innocent face were eyes so enchanting, they could steal one’s soul.

Her black, glimmering eyes held a mysterious power, as though they could suck a person’s soul inside.

Her face was unnaturally pale, with a sickly hue, as if she’d suffered a serious injury.

Yet this frail paleness gave her a sorrowful, pitiful charm that made her even more irresistible.

Her heaving chest, slender waist, and long, shapely legs completed her outstanding figure.

Even someone as old as Su Bai couldn’t help but quietly praise her beauty.

“What brings you here?”

Su Bai asked knowingly.

“My name is Ziyun. I’m from the Western Regions. I came here with my parents to do business, but they both died of illness. I have no one to rely on and beg you to take me in…”

Her eyes shimmered with emotion, seemingly able to speak for themselves.

Even someone as strong-willed as Su Bai couldn’t help but feel pity.

“If that’s the case, come here. I’ll give you some silver.”

Su Bai gave her a gentle smile he thought was kind.

But with all the wrinkles on his face, that smile looked quite lecherous.

Ziyun nodded and swayed her waist as she walked toward Su Bai.

She kept her head lowered, pretending to be shy, but her eyes were full of disgust, and the cold smirk on her lips seemed to mock something.

As she got closer, she quietly opened a small gourd in her hand. It was no bigger than a palm, made of lustrous jade—clearly not an ordinary item.

When she was close enough, a burst of black smoke suddenly shot out from the gourd, aiming straight at Su Bai’s face.

But right then—

Su Bai suddenly drew a long sword from his storage pouch and slashed at her!

The girl tried to retreat, but Su Bai’s sword was lightning-fast. His strike came down straight from above.

Weren’t they supposed to talk about money?

Why was he pulling out a weapon?

And such a long one too!

“Hmph, you little vixen, did you really think this old man couldn’t see through you?”

“I could tell at a glance you weren’t human!”
