Chapter 2: The Four Guardians

At the hotel lounge café, four young men laughed loudly without any concern for how they appeared to others. Their conversation, however, was vulgar and indecent.

These were none other than Lu Yiming’s usual band of degenerate companions during his wild and reckless days.

“Tsk tsk, Young Master Lu must be in heaven right now. That’s Su Rongrong we’re talking about.”

“What’s the big deal? So what if it’s Su Rongrong? No matter how pretty she is, she’s still just a woman. Our Young Master Lu has plenty of ways to deal with her.”

“Say, with a figure like hers, if Brother Lu gets bored of her, do you think he’ll let us have a taste?”

“Don’t even think about it. You’d better drop that idea now. If you piss off Young Master Lu, we’ll all be screwed.”

The group spoke without the slightest shame, though it was clear they feared Lu Yiming deep down.

After all, each of them relied on the Lu Family for their livelihood. On normal days, they were nothing but sycophants, always flattering and sucking up to Lu Yiming.

This time, it was one of them who had come up with the idea—to drug Su Rongrong and force himself on her.

Though it was their first time doing something like this, in their eyes, there was nothing in the entire Magic City that the Lu Family couldn’t handle.

So what if it was just a woman?

The way they saw it, if Lu Yiming was interested in Su Rongrong, it was her good fortune.

The only mistake Su Rongrong made was being too low-key at school. If her real identity had been exposed, even the vast Magic City wouldn’t have dared provoke the wrath of the Su Family.

“Eh? Why is Young Master Lu coming down already?”

“No way, it’s only been what, half an hour? Are your eyes playing tricks on you?”

“Exactly. Would Young Master Lu ever let Su Rongrong go before sundown?”

Barely thirty minutes had passed—it didn’t fit with Lu Yiming’s reputation.

“Shh, stop talking. He doesn’t look too happy.”

Lu Yiming walked through the hotel lobby with a cold expression.

It really was them.

Zhang Zun, Wang Kun, Li Rui, and Fan Cheng.

They proudly called themselves his ‘Four Guardians.’

They’d never stopped egging him on back then.

In the previous life, after the Lu Family’s downfall, these four immediately switched sides. Zhang Zun even kicked him while he was down.

Lu Yiming remembered it clearly—when his family fell and he was desperate, he had gone to each of them asking for help to rise again.

And what did he get?

Nothing but mockery and scorn. Zhang Zun had humiliated him the most.

The look in Lu Yiming’s eyes grew colder.

He’d always found it odd—Zhang Zun had told him he used a strong enough dose of the drug.

Then why had Su Rongrong woken up after just thirty minutes?

Back then, Lu Yiming had foolishly assumed it was because he had been too intense.

But now he realized that someone among them had already grown disloyal and set him up behind the scenes.

But why target Su Rongrong?

That was the biggest mystery Lu Yiming needed to unravel.

“Young Master Lu, what brings you down here?” Wang Kun asked.

“Yeah, we figured you wouldn’t be done until at least nightfall,” Fan Cheng added.

The four knew how obsessed Lu Yiming had been with Su Rongrong. They thought that after succeeding, he would enjoy her to the fullest. But now, unexpectedly, Lu Yiming had appeared.

“What’s the fun in someone who’s completely unconscious?” Lu Yiming said calmly as he sat down on the sofa and crossed his legs.

When it came to acting, Lu Yiming was no amateur.

In his previous life, what hadn’t he experienced?

“So, Young Master Lu prefers them feisty, huh?”

“Tsk, can’t argue with that. It really does spice things up,” Li Rui said.

The four were momentarily stunned but quickly followed Lu Yiming’s lead in the conversation.

“How about we go tie her up then? We’ve got all the time in the world anyway,” Zhang Zun said suddenly, his eyes filled with sleazy intent, making Lu Yiming frown slightly.

“Zhang Zun, if I remember correctly, you were the one who drugged Su Rongrong, right?”

“Young Master Lu, I didn’t know you weren’t into that sort of thing.” Zhang Zun immediately tried to explain himself when he sensed Lu Yiming’s displeasure.

But his shifty gaze betrayed him. He was clearly hiding something.

Zhang Zun didn’t notice the change in Lu Yiming’s expression and assumed he had gotten away with it.

Lu Yiming thought, So it really was him.

That bastard had sabotaged him behind his back.

Could it be that Zhang Zun had already found out about Su Rongrong’s true identity and deliberately set this up?

No, even he himself hadn’t known who she truly was.

So what was the purpose?

Zhang Zun’s father was a senior member of the company—a department head with considerable authority. His own father had always been generous to those who helped build the Lu Family’s empire. Zhang Zun had no reason to resent him.

“There’s no need. Just pretend this never happened.”

“But… Young Master Lu, we’ve already gone this far. Might as well…” Li Rui said. “Women care most about their reputation, right? Once she loses her virginity, she might just give in. You could still win her over.”

Had it been the Lu Yiming from the previous life, he might’ve actually been tempted by those words.

But not now.

Such cheap tactics were beneath him.

“That’s enough. All of you, leave.”

Lu Yiming waved his hand as if swatting away flies.

From now on, he needed to keep a close eye on Zhang Zun.

Seeing that Lu Yiming wasn’t in the mood, the four didn’t say anything more. They nodded and left the hotel lobby.

As usual, all expenses were charged to Lu Yiming’s account.

It had become the norm.

In the previous life, Lu Yiming thought nothing of it—after all, they were his friends. Covering their bills seemed natural.

But looking at it now, these freeloaders indulged themselves while he paid the price.

Thinking about it made him feel truly indignant.

“Waiter.”

Lu Yiming waved to summon a server.

“What can I do for you, Young Master Lu?”

“Get a set of clothes in this size delivered to my room.”

This suite was long-term booked under Lu Yiming’s name. Naturally, the hotel staff knew him well and treated him with great respect. The server took the note with a bow.

Meanwhile, in the locked suite upstairs—

Su Rongrong was checking herself from head to toe.

Aside from feeling a bit weak, there was nothing unusual.

That made her breathe a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, she had woken up early enough, and the worst hadn’t happened.

“Bastard.”

Alone, Su Rongrong finally let go of her strong facade.

She hadn’t fully entered society yet. Facing such a traumatic event—it was impossible not to be afraid.

She never imagined that Lu Yiming would use such despicable tactics.

But what she couldn’t understand was—why did Lu Yiming stop at the final moment?

Did he have a change of heart?

No, someone like him couldn’t possibly have a conscience.

Was he… set up?

Could that even be true?

Her thoughts were a mess.

Should she retaliate?

Should she tell her family?

She was just a girl—and she had suffered.

Although the worst didn’t happen, her body had been seen in full by that scumbag Lu Yiming.

Thinking of that made her skin crawl.

The Lu Family…

They were nothing more than nouveau riche who had only recently risen to power.

In Magic City, their industries were everywhere. Riding the wave of economic reform, they were among the first to get rich.

But compared to the Su Family, they still lacked deep roots.

If this escalated into a full-blown conflict, there would be a price to pay.

After all, Huaxia had no shortage of old noble families. If something triggered a larger chain reaction, it could get complicated.

As Su Rongrong weighed the pros and cons, a knock suddenly came at the door.

“Who is it?!”

Could that bastard have the nerve to come back?

“Hello, it’s hotel staff. Mr. Lu asked us to deliver some clothes.”

“Leave them at the door.”

After confirming no one was outside, Su Rongrong opened the door just a crack and took the bag inside.
