Chapter 1: A World Filled with Malice.

Lu Shaoyan woke up in searing pain. A sharp sting stabbed through his cerebral cortex, leaving him dazed, his head swelling and throbbing as if it might split apart at any moment.

Voices drifted around him, distant and intermittent, as though carried on waves he couldn’t quite catch.

“He looks like he’s out cold. Send him back to the ward.”

“Liu Bin, isn’t the electroshock therapy for Lu Shaoyan a bit too frequent? If this continues, he might not be able to endure it.”

“Doctor Wang Hao approved it. If you’ve got a problem, go find him.”

…

His consciousness slowly surfaced from the haze, yet the pain remained relentless. Instinctively, Lu Shaoyan raised both hands to clutch his head, as if trying to pry open his skull just to ease the agony.

Only then did he realize he was tightly restrained to a treatment chair. Under the ghastly pale light, the blurry figures in his vision gradually became clear.

As the device on his head was removed, two figures in white coats reflected in his dark pupils.

A teasing voice sounded beside him, “Oh, the young master’s awake. I’ll take you back.”

“Tsk tsk, drooling so much. What are you, a dog?”

The moment he heard that voice, Lu Shaoyan immediately remembered the man bending over to undo his restraints—Liu Bin, an orderly at Qingshan Psychiatric Hospital.

At the same time, a flood of unfamiliar memories surged into his mind like a tidal wave. The pain in his head grew even more unbearable, and he couldn’t tell whether it came from the lingering effects of the electroshock or from the violent clash of memories.

Wasn’t he already dead?

So… he had transmigrated?

His thoughts were sluggish, tangled in pain, but sometimes, people don’t need to think.

Instinct makes the decision for them.

Just as Liu Bin continued his mocking while unfastening the restraint on his left hand, Lu Shaoyan’s already freed right hand suddenly shot forward. He grabbed Liu Bin’s head and slammed it hard against the solid armrest of the electroshock machine.

A sharp cry burst out as Liu Bin howled in pain.

Lu Shaoyan wrenched his half-loosened left hand free, then seized Liu Bin by the hair and smashed his head against the nearby equipment once again.

The incessant babbling made his headache worse.

Before the other white coat beside them could react, Lu Shaoyan had already grabbed a metal medical tray and swung it straight at his head.

The impact knocked the man unconscious instantly.

Only then did Lu Shaoyan lift a hand to wipe the saliva at the corner of his mouth, left there by the electroshock. His gaze swept across the room—the electroshock therapy chamber of Qingshan Psychiatric Hospital.

This place felt both unfamiliar and eerily familiar.

A deep, instinctive fear rose within him, making him uncomfortable. He knew it came from the memories.

He straightened his hospital gown and said calmly, “Stop howling.”

Liu Bin, writhing on the floor, continued to curse, “You’re dead meat! I’m bleeding!”

“Assaulting medical staff, Lu Shaoyan, just you wait!”

“I’ll lock you in the isolation room for three days and three nights!”

Lu Shaoyan didn’t respond. He simply lifted his foot and kicked Liu Bin square in the face, silencing his barking.

Blood splattered. Something seemed to fly out—perhaps a tooth. As Liu Bin clutched his mouth and groaned in pain again, Lu Shaoyan spoke slowly, “I told you, you’re too noisy… and who exactly were you calling a dog just now?”

Blood seeped through Liu Bin’s fingers as anger and fear tangled across his face, “You… you’re crazy!”

Lu Shaoyan let out a faint chuckle, “I suppose I am. Otherwise, why would I be in a psychiatric hospital?”

Liu Bin stared at him in terror. It was the same person… yet something felt entirely different.

Those eyes, now faintly tinged with red, seemed to carry a chilling darkness. The timid rich young master he once knew was nowhere to be found.

Lu Shaoyan crouched in front of him, calm and composed, and casually pulled a cigarette from Liu Bin’s white coat.

The lighter flicked on. The flame illuminated his pale, cold face. The cigarette tip glowed, bright then dim, as he took a drag and exhaled slowly.

His expression relaxed slightly, and even the pain in his head seemed to ease, “Doctor Wang Hao told you not to smoke during work, didn’t he? Why do you never listen?”

“I… I didn’t smoke… I was just carrying it…”

Before Liu Bin could finish, he felt his hair suddenly yanked.

Pain shot through his scalp as his head was slammed into the ground.

He cried out again, the sound hoarse and broken.

Lu Shaoyan’s quiet voice drifted into his ears, “So I was wrong?”

Another heavy impact followed. Liu Bin’s mind blurred, his skull feeling as though it might have cracked open.

When Lu Shaoyan finally let go, Liu Bin scrambled backward on the floor, desperate to put distance between them.

Blood streamed down from his forehead, blurring his vision. The figure before him had become utterly terrifying.

“I was wrong… I was wrong… please spare me…”

Lu Shaoyan watched his trembling state, took another drag, and said with mild curiosity, “What exactly did you do wrong?”

“I… I was just following Doctor Wang Hao’s orders…” Liu Bin instinctively tried to defend himself, but under that calm, indifferent gaze, he quickly changed his words, “I was wrong, Young Master Lu. I won’t dare again.”

“I won’t insult you again…”

Lu Shaoyan recalled the man’s previous arrogance, along with the faint words he had heard earlier—“Increase the voltage a bit, as long as he doesn’t die, it’s fine.”

“Like a dog. One shock and he bares his teeth.”

The pain in his head flared again, but a playful smile appeared on his face, “I still prefer how arrogant you were before.”

“And your apology… I don’t accept it.”

He stood up and kicked Liu Bin unconscious without hesitation.

Apologies were truly annoying.

Whether it was apologizing to others or others apologizing to him, Lu Shaoyan disliked both.

Especially the latter… because it meant someone had wronged you.

And an apology could just erase that?

What a cheap transaction.

After that, Lu Shaoyan walked out of the electroshock room on his own.

Where to go?

He hadn’t decided.

What to do?

He hadn’t thought about that either.

Right now, his identity was that of a psychiatric patient. Acting like this might be considered impulsive, and it would probably bring trouble… but he didn’t care.

Under the sunlight, Lu Shaoyan stretched lazily.

As long as his thoughts were unblocked, that was enough.

Simply put, after beating someone up just now, he felt much better.

Even the dull ache and heaviness in his head had eased significantly.

Violence couldn’t solve problems… but it was good for one’s mental and physical health.

Especially when dealing with idiots and enemies.

With people like them, what was there to talk about?
